This was by far the absolute worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I was woken up around 7:30 am by an off the clock employee in a Winnie-the-Pooh onsie pounding on my door as if she were the FBI. I woke up in a panic and was sent straight into fight-or-flight mode. This was immediately followed by another employee calling me on the phone and yelling at me. I swear I almost had a heart attack. All because I plugged my electric rental car into an outlet outside the hotel. I truly didn’t think it would’ve been such a big deal. I go to the lobby and immediately the staff has the absolute worst and most unprofessional attitude I’ve ever experienced by workers in public in my entire life. They stated there was a $25 fee. Okay…? Charge me the fee. My car didn’t even charge a single mile by the way! I got little to sleep that night to begin with. I ended up have to sit at a car charger for hours because Altoona has very poor electric car infrastructure. I’ve worked in hotels. I’ve never treated nor seen anyone be treated with such anger and vitriol. There was no warning. There was no previous discussions. I spoke with corporate and demanded a full refund. But I can tell you one thing: that staff certainly couldn’t be paid enough to go to war over something some unobtrusive and simple as someone charging their car with an outlet that, again, didn’t even work.
Nothing warranted me being woken up with such anger and hatred. I spoke with corporate and demanded a full refund. The staff here is TRASHY and UNPROFESSIONAL. And they should be ashamed of themselves. My nerves were on fire for hours because of getting woken up like that. They mentioned how I was flaunting my money with my car. It was a rental. The staff member in the pajamas stated to me outside as I was packing my car with my things: “mommy and daddy must pay all of your bills”. Who says that? One of my parents is dead and I barely speak to the other and he certainly doesn’t help me financially. People like this are going to be forever stuck working low wage jobs. Despicable behavior. Not to mention the room was gross....
Read moreI feel completely disrespected by the staff and disgusted by this place. The room smelled disgustingly like smoke. I called the front desk as soon as I got in to ask to be switched and they told me that since I had booked on a travel site and not on their site, that he couldn't switch my room (huh? did he make this up because he didn't want to push a few more buttons? Did they have no respect for people who book on Orbitz or Expedia?). I offered to pay more if needed to switch to a different room (although in hindsight, I should not even have offered this). He still denied my request. Then I thought, perhaps he doesn't have any more rooms (trying to give the rude man the benefit of the doubt) but when I went on their website, I saw that they indeed had other rooms. Why wouldn't he just switch my room to keep a customer happy? Such a simple thing to do that wouldn't cost them a thing.
Mind you, I'm not the type to complain and tried to make the best of the situation so I sucked it up and sat in a smoke filled room that made my head and chest hurt (dirty no less) for 20min. When I could no longer take it, I walked out with my stuff to the front desk to tell the front desk rep that I wanted a refund if he couldn't switch my room and he said he could not give me a refund because I had already spent too much time in the room (EVEN THOUGH I CALLED HIM AS SOON AS I ENTERED THE ROOM). Some people don't understand the value of a customer and good service. This is that place. Even when I told him my head and chest hurt, he had NO EMPATHY.
I ended up leaving and driving ten minutes away to the Days Inn that even gave me complimentary soup for dinner. What a difference. Please be warned, avoid this place...
Read moreMore like 3.75 stars, but theres no option for that. So this “hotel” is already pretty run down, would be more fitting to call it a motel. We come in, the front desk people weren’t too nice/welcoming, especially the old lady. But they weren’t rude either, just somewhere in the middle. We go to our room, and the smell hits us, it reeked; don’t know what it smelled like, it was just musty. The bathroom smelled even worse, like someone pissed all over the floor and the staff just put some paper towels over it and called it a day. But the shower was actually very good, the pressure was nice and the height of the shower head was perfect. 10/10 shower experience. The breakfast was very simple, nothing was prepared. If you want waffles you have to cook them yourself. (But cooking them is really simple, you just pour some batter in a waffle maker and wait two minutes) Butter tasted and looked like mayo, but without it the waffles were too dry so I had to eat it. The area nearby is nice. But you can’t walk around much, there are no paths and there are literal signs saying that walking is illegal. Yeah so take a car. I do recommend to go explore the little shopping center nearby, the dollar store was so nice. It was clean, and 95% of the items were $1.25! We got 20 items for $30. We also went to the olive garden, pretty good food, but don’t order the 6 oz sirloin, it was so dry 🤢(if you do order it don’t order it well done). Also meat and the side of fettuccine alfredo it comes with don’t really go together. But the chicken and nochi soup was good, so it was okay. Plus the soup was included with my meal. Okay wrapping up my essay here, if you read all of it I...
