I don't know what those other people are talking about. I found this hotel to be outstanding. Every member of the staff from the front desk clerk to the cleaning crew had a smile and a friendly 'Good morning!' The room was immaculate. It didn't have that funky "hotel room" smell you sometimes get. In fact, it was one of the very few hotel rooms I've stayed in where I was comfortable going barefoot! Every surface had been wiped spotlessly clean. My room even had a kitchen, full-size refrigerator, and a sofa with one of those lap-trays you can pull close so you don't have to sit at a desk and eat. The alarm clock had a wireless charging pad too... a nice touch. Another nice touch was that there was a sliding barn-style door that you could pull closed to separate the bathroom area from the bedroom area which really made it feel unlike a hotel room. The absolutely only thing I found to complain about was that the lighting in the bathroom was very dim and the light fixture on the wall over the sofa was not plugged in and there was nowhere to plug it in. But there were enough other lights in the room that it was well lit. It was my first time staying at a Suburban Studios but I will definitely stay there every time I...
Read moreI want to preface this by saying that the staff was amazing - from the front desk to housekeeping! The location of this hotel is also awesome - make sure to go to Perkins and use your 10% off if staying at the hotel! The free breakfast was also really good!! Onto the not so great stuff… the bed felt like we were sleeping on milk crates! My hips hurt so bad and my husband had a pinched nerve in his shoulder by the end of the weekend. The bed also only had 2 twin pillows and it was king size. The area with the living room was dark the entire trip. There was a light in there but nowhere to plug it in. The wall next to the shower was chipped and moldy. The shower knob was broken so while you could turn it on and off with the water control, you couldn’t turn the shower nozzle itself off so it’s only coming through the faucet. The shower didn’t have a plastic liner, just a very thin cloth curtain, so the water sprayed all over the bathroom floor. It also did not drain well so you end up standing in the water while it drains. The microwave was all black on the inside. We would not stay here again unless they have renovated the rooms. Someone did comment that they renovated them but ours...
Read moreStaff were super personable friendly, Jake in particular was the reason for placing a repeat stay in a few weeks!
Pricing was competitive with price quoted by their competition where we usually stay when in the area; in fact have already booked another stay for our next upcoming trip through Altoona.
Location was ideal, although somewhat noisey with local traffic. Comicon event guests also occupied hotel but were quiet: only negative was they were at breakfast same time as us and were coughing and sneezing repeatedly with several sleepily bumping into our chairs despite ample room between tables. Tired youngsters I guess, but questionable health respect of others.
It appears hotel is a 2 winged hotel, one arm is the hotel, one is longer stay 'collection' suites. Full kitchen advertised, Cooktop, medium size fridge and microwave, however no plates, nor cuttlery nor toaster, nor dish soap or kitchen towels, scrub brush.......so acceptable if one knows ahead, but NOT a fullkitchen classification to...
