This was the third time that we have stayed at this LQ/Hawthorn Suites by Windham. The management/reception is very friendly and reponsive to our requests for room location. We travel with our large dog, so prefer a room close to an exit door. The room that we were assigned (101, I think) was large with a very comfy kingsize bed. I like their bedside tables that are built into the wall with light switches, electrical outlets and charging ports easily within reach. There is a microwave and small refrigerator in addition to a large desk area and large TV. (I am not very electronics savvy, so getting the TV channels that I wanted was very difficult for me. There was not a TV channel guide in the room, so I had to scroll throught the guide on the remote which took forever to find the channel(s) that I wanted.) The location of this hotel is within very easy walking distance to several restaurants. (We "discovered" the Swadley's BBQ on our first visit and have returned to it everytime we pass through Ardmore. I highly recommend. ||After a long drive from Seguin, I was very tired. So after dining at Swadley's, I got all tucked into bed early and went to sleep. About midnight, I woke to a need to visit the bathroom. The bedroom was very dark. As I walked over the threshold of the bathroom, I stepped barefoot into a water puddle. I thought "What the Hey!" Fumbled around for the wall switch. In my sleep-groggy mind, I couldn't understand what was happening. Water was dripping, almost streaming from the ceiling over the sink/toilet. I grabbed a towel to wipe off the necessary fixture and the sink, and immediately called the front desk. The frontdesk receptionist responded to me immediately. First she asked if I needed to switch rooms, but having partially unpacked, plus having my dog and a cat in tow, and it being after midnight, I said no, just help me with all this water. The receptionist brought many big towels to sop up the water on the floor. (Thank goodness there is a threshold into the bathroom because water was 1/4"+ deep on the floor of the bathroom. Without the threshold, the water would have flooded the hotel room.) She gave me the remainder of the towels and hurried upstairs to awaken the person in the room above me. In just a minute or so, I could hear the person above me moving around. Apparently, he left water running in the sink? Or the toilet running over? Or something equally as obnoxious. ||The receptionist wanted to compensate me somehow. I was hoping for a reduction in my room cost. But instead, Wyndham gave me a bunch of extra Wyndham Rewards points. Now as considerate as this was, I suppose, I am a senior and don't travellas much as I used to. So I'm not so sure that I will find the extra rewards points all that useful. But anyway ~ the breakfast was very good with scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy and breakfast potatoes with sauted onions and peppers. They also offer cereals, pastries, juices and some fruit.||Considering my appreciation of the reception's quick response and my 2 past experiences at this hotel, I recommend it to anyone traveling with a pet or pets. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast is good and the staff are very responsive to...

Read moreArrived for check-in at 3:45pm. Two ladies were talking down the hall as I waited to get checked in. Finally, I overhear a lady say, "There is someone waiting out front." The hotel guest had been talking to the front desk employee. She seemed upset to have been interrupted. Simply stated," You have a reservation?"; no greeting of any sort. |Stayed on 2nd floor. Hallway smelled like cigarette smoke. Upon arriving in the room, we have 3 towels for 4 people checking in and no hand soap. The toilet paper holder went loose once I pulled for paper. No pot or pan in the kitchenette. I had brought one and made it work, but i thought there would be at least one| The beds are not comfortable. The pool needed chemicals, so it was closed. Rervation for 2 nights, so asked when it would be open. Employee wasn't sure when it would be opened. |Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Staff member was present refilling as needed. I'm not sure why she was putting small refills at a time, but she was on top of it. There were a few people without shoes at the breakfast area. I'm not used to seeing that. |Hallway had big dumpsters full of linens and towels on the first floor in the hall towards the pool exit. I'm not sure if it's common or if it's because the pool is closed; I just didn't find it appealing or professional. Yes, it needs to get done, but don't have them sitting during the day. |Overall, we made it work but wouldn't...
