Where to start…. My friend (Riley) and I were passing through town at 11am on a Sunday. We decided to stop by Sakura Hibachi and Sushi for some eats. Willing to wait for an hour we were hopeful for a good experience.
After waiting that hour, we walk in and are ignored for 15 min before being approached by a staff member. He was very kind upon meeting, he then sat us at the hibachi table and left left us for 20 min. Upon his return he takes our drink order and comes back 10 minutes later with our drinks. Leaves for another 10 minutes, then comes back and takes our appetizer order. I got the Philadelphia Roll and Spring Roll, my friend got the gyoza. The Philadelphia roll was good for $5 and the spring roll was cooked well with a crisp to it. The Gyoza was slimy and had no taste. The boat plates were kind of cool.
After the appetizers, he sits another family with us to complete the table. He then takes our order and not theirs. After waiting 15 min, more people than expected showed up with the family that sat with us. The waiter had absolutely no idea how to handle this. He chose us to be removed from our table where we had just waited 45 min. After the removal, the cook came out with some good energy. I ordered the steak and scallops and added chicken, and my friend ordered the steak and chicken. Being positive we still had high hopes for the food which we were about to receive, Amen. The fried rice had to be drowned in yum sauce and soy sauce to be decent. The steak was trash but with salt I could eat it. The chicken was the only redeeming quality of this meal. The scallops were trash.
I was so displeased by the end of this consumption of food, I left majority of the food on the plate and left. All in all my experience...

The bento box was a generous spread with an array of flavors and textures. The teriyaki chicken was tender, coated in a sweet and savory glaze with just enough richness to be satisfying without feeling heavy. Paired with perfectly steamed rice, each bite was comforting and filling, ideal for a busy workday.
The bento also included crisp tempura—light and delicately fried vegetables and shrimp—which added a satisfying crunch and balanced the meal nicely. A side of California rolls provided a fresh, cool contrast, and the miso soup warmed me up in a way only good miso can.
Overall, this lunch was a delightful escape from the grind of the day, bringing a bit of comfort and variety to my work routine. For anyone deployed in Ardmore or just passing through, I’d highly recommend the chicken teriyaki bento box at Sakura for a meal that’s both hearty and packed...
Read moreWas placed at a booth in the back behind the kitchen where we were pretty much "out of sight, out of mind". Then when we ordered, our waiter barely spoke English, so communication was an issue from the beginning. When the food was brought out, I got something i didn't even order, my wife found a hard piece of plastic or something in her avacado salad. The waiter came to the table twice while my wife and I had empty drinks, we never got refills. Then the check comes... we told them we did not want to pay for something that I did not order, or eat. Then the woman who runs the place ( I think) got an attitude and said she was the only one who spoke English there, and acted like it was OUR fault that our waiter couldn't understand us and we couldn't understand him. Other than that the food was good, the service is just horrible! Don't plan on going back anytime soon. If you go, learn...
