For almost $400/night, one would think rooms would be in great condition. Friendly staff but should have nice new quality. I have been a marriot bonvoy member for about 3 years now and this has been the worst hotel stay yet.
1st the room we booked was a “city view” and the city view we had was just looking at another building. The walls are thinner than college rule paper at this hotel. There was a door connecting my 1 bedroom to another bedroom, and I could hear the other rooms talking, walking, eating, watching tv, snoring, showing, brushing their teeth it was MADDENING. I had a 2 night stay and maybe slept 5 hours in 2 day.
They are in the middle of reconstruction so they started that daily at about 8am. I had no access to the pool or top deck but I assure you they ran a jackhammer and had trucks beeping in reverse starting daily at 8am.
Positives: neat lobby, and every single staff member was nice. You can tell they are well trained. Location is AMAZING and the only reason I didn’t give this a 1-2 star. You can walk out and be directly on the strip so many great places to eat and drink.
Negative- the carpet in the hallways and in the rooms were OLD, worn, and stained. Some walls weren’t finished being painted. We had holes and cuts in our curtains. For a 400 dollar room you’d think the TV would be bigger than 30in felt like I was watching tv on an iPad. My sheets were very very loud and every time I moved I felt like I was running in a fleece track suit. Lastly, uppon check in you’d think there would be some instructions for how to check in. The 1st floor only has some elevators and there is no place to park as you are downtown so you are required to pull into the parking garage and check in on the 2nd floor. However no one said anything about this via email or anywhere else so very confusing 1st experience here.
To conclude this hotel is not bad but it’s also not great. It is clean besides the carpets and some walls needing to be painted. The people are nice and the location is 2nd to none for this town. However the thin room quality and the work they are doing on this hotel should NOT BE THIS MUCH MONEY PER STAY. I felt the only reason they can get away with this price is ONLY the location. If this hotel is anywhere else in the world it would be a 1-2 star stay just based on the sleeping situation and all the work they are doing with no warning to people from other states.
Lastly, there was 0 notice online about construction going on. I have been here 2 days leaving now and found this image below attached hiding on a desk in the corner. Thanks for the notice after I book...
Read moreFirst time I had the chance to stay at an Aloft property, and let me assure you this hotel is absolutely stellar.
One thing that immediately stood out was the parking situation, while I'm pretty sure anyone can park in the parking garage, the hotel does have dedicated spaces for their guests. We never had to walk more than 20 seconds to get into the hotel. There was a daily charge for parking at the hotel, but after seeing the great downtown location and being able to tell parking in the area was nothing short of a nightmare at times, I gladly paid for the parking garage and would do so again.
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, however after an 8 hour drive we were ready to grab some food. The awesome people at the front desk offered to keep our bags safe in a locked room while we went to stuff our faces at a nearby restaurant.
After about 45 minutes got a call from the front desk, room ready, headed back and walked into our room.
To be completely honest for a prepaid, basic room i wasn't expecting anything fancy. And while it wasn't the most exquisite hotel room I've ever been in... it was really really awesome. Bigger than expected, great shower, and those beds... I didn't want to leave the bed. Hands down best bed I ever slept on. And ridiculously clean... plus a mini fridge!
The pool deck on the third floor, as well as the balcony and bar on the second floor were pretty cool to hang out on and mingle with fellow travelers or just to sit and relax.
If safety is your concern, the elevators do require you to have a room key to scan in order to access floors 3+, where the guest rooms are located which I personally thought was a nice touch.
Now if you want downtown Asheville, currently, there isn't a better hotel location wise. Personally when I come back to Asheville I wouldn't stay anywhere else but here.
Breweries, coffee shops, and several excellent restaurants within a 1-2 block radius of the hotel. It's a no brainer, stay here, you won't regret it.
TLDR version: clean, awesome staff, great room, great bed, had to pay for parking - however, completely worth it. Personally would only stay at this hotel...
Read moreMy fiancé and I planned a trip to Asheville for a Covid friendly vacation.
We originally planned two nights in the mountains and two nights in downtown. We ended our trip in the mountains quickly due to a horrible experience at the place we rented, we came into Downtown early on Friday morning and asked if they had availability to extend our stay by a night and they were so understanding and quickly accommodated us within a few hours.
As soon as you enter the hotel it doesn’t feel so stuck up and cut and paste as many other higher end hotels do. This hotel is clean, with beautiful attention to detail in their youthful and eclectic artsy/music style. Not to mention it’s pet friendly with plenty of dog art all over the place! They even have a dog pen with an adoption program, there wasn’t currently a dog there but even that spot was thoughtful and cute! Our room had two beautiful windows that let in the perfect amount of natural light, we never even had to use the lights during the day! The detailed wallpaper, wood grain decor, and thoughtful touches of art and modern furniture combined with a super comfortable bed (I have a bad back and am a bit heavier person, and it was the perfect amount of soft and firm, most likely a hybrid bed) this hotel gives you a resort feel, with the proper covid procedures, as well as a lounge/bar open in the evenings with great drinks and a gorgeous outdoor balcony with cute tables and a perfect view of the city.
My dog loves it too! There was plenty of space for his crate and there’s a grass lot behind the hotel.
Oh, and I forgot to mention how kind and helpful all of the staff is!
Definitely stay here if you’re looking to visit downtown Asheville! Everything is right out the front door, you’ll be in the heart of it all with a general store and a bunch of fabulous restaurants! We have one more night here and I truly don’t even want to go home yet, it’s such...
