Hotel- Kimpton Arras Date- August 2020 (2 nights) Overall: 5/5. Excellent. This is one of my favorite Kimpton properties. The property itself is immaculately kept and maintained, and the staff is flawless, a true tribute to the brand. The location is ideal, and the restaurant is tasty. Traveling with our cat, this hotel was perfect for us; no hotel welcomes us or our furry friend better. Rewards Club Recognition- 5/5. Excellent. We were thanked for our loyalty and given Welcome Amenity points, (since the hotel does not offer the Raid-the-Bar credit option while there are no minibars stocked in the hotel). Our room was upgraded, and we genuinely felt like valued guests. Staff- 5/5. Excellent. Alison from Ohio, who checked us in, was delightful and fun to interact with, as were the other front desk representatives. Will & Andrew were also cordial and engaging. Kudos to the staff members here; they set this hotel apart, above so many others! Accommodations- 5/5 Excellent. First we were assigned a smaller âMountain View Kingâ room, but when we asked the front desk if a better room was available, the front desk staff checked and was able to move us to a better âExecutive Suite.â What a difference! The corner bedroom and âliving roomâ were separate, which worked well for an early riser and a night owl. The spacious bathroom separated the two. The bed was super comfortable. Housekeeping- 5/5. Excellent. Our rooms were immaculate and pristine. The bathrooms sparkled and were stocked with an adequate supply of toiletries for the length of our stay. Great job housekeeping! Pool/Gym- Not evaluated. Breakfast/Meal Options- 5/5. Excellent. The restaurant Bargello served a very tasty Trout dish, and the pasta my spouse had was devoured- an obvious sign of how good it was. The minibar is emptied during the pandemic; select items were available at the front desk. Wine hour was from 5p until 6p, and coffee service was provided from 7a until 10a. Coffee was self-serve, which was unexpected during the pandemic. Laundry- Not evaluated. Computer/Printer/WiFi- WiFi was strong throughout the hotel and streaming was smooth. Property Appearance & Maintenance- 5/5. Looks shiny and new! Fantastic upkeep! Exterior- The hotel is eye catching, even from afar. Landscaping/exterior upkeep was notable. Interior- The hallway walls and carpets are in great condition, and the light fixtures throughout the property were functional and interesting. The elevator walls and floors were clean, and the no touch system in place was fascinating. (Why arenât more elevators of the world like this?!?) Other- Valet parking has resumed and is $27/night. Disinfecting gel stations could be found throughout the hotel. One thing to note: the windows are not soundproof. So, the fire trucks and ambulances that pass by can be heard even on the 6th floor; if you face Pack Square, expect to hear...
Read moreThe Kimpton Hotel Arras is a stunningly beautiful and luxurious brand new hotel in the heart of downtown Asheville. They have managed to create an upscale, yet laid back and fun environment that isn't pretentious. We were greeted by Amy and Erica at the registration desk. These two employees are true assets for this business, and I cannot say enough about how nice and helpful they were. I sprained my ankle a few days before our vacation and hobbled into the hotel lobby on crutches. Since the crutches meant more time at the hotel rather than exploring downtown, they upgraded us to a beautiful, spacious suite. They inquired about the nature of our stay and when they found out we were celebrating our anniversary they surprised us with decadent cake and bottle of wine in our room the next day. Amy and Erica went out of their way to make this a fantastic vacation for us, and they played an integral role in making a very frustrating situation (on crutches) so much better.
It's remarkable how much of a difference it makes when everyone you encounter who is working at the hotel is in a good mood. From the moment we walked through the doors to the time we left 5 days later everyone who worked at the hotel was cheery and willing to help, including the bellman / doorman, check in personnel, bar staff, housekeeping, and what appeared to be a manager. It's obvious that these people take pride in their jobs and have been given the training and latitude to take care of the customers (not to mention that the hotel has figured out how to hire the right people, which is not easy to do). We are not high maintenance people and don't expect a lot, but it is so refreshing that people were cheerful and willing to help when we did have questions or a small request.
The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring downtown Asheville. It's within walking distance of a ridiculous number of amazing restaurants and entertainment. There are so many things to see and do within a block of the hotel that being on crutches wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
Different complimentary wines and a small treat are available daily from 5 to 6 in the hotel lobby. These free small bites are elevated culinary treats, which were not my thing, but my wife absolutely loved them. We also hung out in District 42 where they had a large selection of games available. You don't normally see games like scrabble, sequence, etc., in such an upscale environment but we loved the combination of luxury and fun, and it appeared a whole bunch of other people staying at the hotel did to.
Our stay wasn't all that expensive, but there are cheaper options in the area. Hotel Arras was going to be a special treat just for our anniversary. After this experience we will pay the small percentage higher just to come back here. We are frugal but willing to pay for things that...
Read moreWow! We love this hotel! A little background first⌠weâve been living in hotels for 6 months due to a work situation. Weâve been everywhere with our 2 fur-children (2 medium/large dogs)! I tell you this so you understand that we are well accustomed to what we love in a hotel and what we hate!
Prior to arriving at the Kimpton, we had a not so great experience at a âresortâ hotel and let me tell you there was nothing âresortâ about it. We were in a sour mood arriving at the Kimpton due to an unfortunate exchange with staff at this other hotel.
Immediately upon arriving to the Kimpton, we were greeted with Valet and Tori ready to help us with our bags! Let me tell you our car and luggage was a MESS because we got out of that last place so quick we just threw it all in haha! Tori was super welcoming and made us and our dogs feel like we just got home!
This is a FANTASTIC place, especially if you have dogs! All the staff was eager to greet us, get us checked in and say hello to our pups! One gentleman Tommy??, asked us if weâd like dog beds brought up to our room (ummm, YES!!). We had thrown ours out because it was too much to lug around hotel to hotel so this was a major bonus! They gave us treat bags too (which included a squeaky tennis ball and coupon to use at their partner pet store!).
Onto the actual room/hotel, thank goodness we had Tori with us to explain the cool features of the room and the thermostat!! Their room comes with robes, a yoga mat and a Chromecast to cast your favorite shows! Their beds were so comfortable we wanted to sleep forever and the black out curtains to cover the large windows kept it dark!
With 2 restaurants in the lobby of the hotel, there was plenty to do without actually leaving but another bonus was the central location! Aside from hiking, we walked everywhere and it was always less than 10 minutes! When we did want to hike, we texted Valet for our call and it was ready when we got there!
We wanted to give another special shout-out to Tori because heâs the main reason we loved this hotel so much; the perks for our dogs and the comfy beds helped but we loved seeing Tori everyday! He was bright, welcoming every time we arrived, acknowledged us by name and gave us short but sweet conversations in between! We really got to know him when we were heading out and heâs a very special person to have on their staff! We appreciated him a lot because when you travel so much itâs hard to feel like youâre welcome anywhere!
Sorry for the long winded review, we just wanted to give the whole picture! Thank you everyone at the Kimpton,...
