French Broad Food Co-Op — Local services in Asheville

So the instructions are to share more about my experience. That could be pretty long! I'm a member of the French Broad Food Co-op (and you can be too for a very reasonable yearly fee which once you have paid your full share as I have is no longer required. Last I knew it was $25 a year but everything goes up so I can't promise on that one. But members get more than enough benefits to make that worthwhile.Also you're have the pleasure of knowing that you are supporting a community owned grocery store ) I have been a member for about 30 years and I've never regretted it. It's one of the only places in the area where you can buy produce knowing that absolutely everything is organic. It has,everybody agrees, best bulk herb section and most knowledgeable staff about those herbs in at least a three adjacent county area if not all of Western North Carolina. There's a wide selection of other bulk foods and it is well stocked with everything we would expect from a grocery store that caters to those of us that try to avoid GMOs and pesticides. Indeed a very large proportion of what is sold at the French Broad Food Co-op is Organic. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough. And if you become part of the community you will be made aware of truckload sales and other member appreciation sales which offer you great deals and can seriously help one to weather the current inflation storm. Depending on how well the store does members get rebates at the end of the year if my memory serves me correctly I have received significant rebates (note rebate might not be the right term) based on the purchases I made over the previous year for many years now. That is not guaranteed but when our Co-op does well we all benefit and over the last decade or so that has been the case. BTW there's plenty of parking which is a real plus in jam...

I am madly in love with F.B.F.C.!! Comparible prices, Great variety of LOCAL ORGANIC PRODUCE. A large variety of Organic NON GMO products. The "Food Coop" as I endearingly call it, has a wonderful plethora of items for vegans, as well as those who are a far cry from vegan. They've an ENTIRE ROOM DEVOTED TO BULK HERBS, DRIED MUSHROOMS, dehydrated fruits, bulk grains, coffees & much more.. I wanted to make sure I mentioned the Bulk Herb room because believe it or not, I had made several visits there before I realized that little TREASURE CHEST was just sitting back there, waiting to be noticed. Once I stepped thru that door, I became theirs.. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.. I completely& utterly fell in love. 💚😮AN ENTIRE ROOM DEVOTED TO BULK HERBS OF ALL TYPES!!😮💚 I know that this may not be as exciting to certain ppl but for ME? I just don't have the words to describe how HAPPY just being in that room makes me😊... SO!! IF you're in the downtown Asheville NC area & want to check out a great store, head over there. F.B.F.C. is right across the street from Wicked Weed & Orange Peel in a brick building, next to LaZoom.. Their Staff are a group of really great knowledgable people that won't hound you while you're in the store but are more than happy to help you when you ask.. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND F.B.F.C. to anyone who lives an organic, non gmo, raw, natural, vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. But I recommend F.B.F.C. to ANYONE at all. I joined the FBFC in April when they were doing a membership drive offering free reusable bags with every membership. It’s really reasonable to join and the savings really add up on the members only deals. The prices here are comparable to other stores, but you are supporting local and investing in Asheville 💝.

The bulk section is the majority of my shopping, their prices, selection and freshness are unrivaled. I also love they carry Purifoy Essences and Purifoy Sacred Ways Apothecary products 💗 highly recommend for overall energetic wellness!

Their coupon books also have really great deals in them, and I love how they put one in every basket for those times I leave my coupons at home. Plenty of parking and a really nice parking attendant that can help guide you to a space on busy days.
