If you're looking for elegant quarters in a warm and engaging atmosphere with concierge services and staff ready to assist with all of your hotel needs, then I would highly recommend booking reservations at the Foundry Hotel Asheville, Curio Collection by Hilton! The five buildings that comprise the Hotel, are absolutely stunning in decor! My accessible room was extremely spacious with a sitting area, a small bar area, a luxury bathroom and two comfortable Queen beds! The exposed brick walls were beautiful! In my capacity as a travel agent, I have visited countless upscale properties, locally and globally. I recently booked six rooms for family and friends to attend my son's intimate wedding and reception, in the budding Asheville, North Carolina area. My group of guests, including two very young children, came from various parts of the country. Upon arrival, we had an abundance of luggage and an excessive amount of boxes needed for the wedding ceremony and reception. Check-in was extremely efficient and the customer service was impeccable! I had the pleasure of interacting with three phenomenal Managers: Ashley, Danielle and KJ, throughout my stay. They were the consummate professionals. Irregardless of the immediate need, they rolled up their sleeves and jumped in to assist their staff with several tasks associated with getting our group settled-in, and off to a scheduled dinner on our first night. On the day of the Wedding, I could not have asked for a better group of Hotel staff and professionals to help with requests, small and large; stemming from something as small but important as getting buckets of ice delivered to our rooms to ice-down drinks for a 2-hour drive in a luxury van to the top of a mountain, to ensuring that an abundance of decorative guest bags, gifts, and large boxes, needed for the ceremony and wedding reception, were carefully delivered and stacked in the Van. The staff's attention to detail helped to take a tremendous load off of my shoulders! On our day of departure, Hotel staff graciously made breakfast reservations in the on-site restaurant for a farewell meal, where we were treated like royalty! Upon Check-out, we were faced with getting everyone efficiently out and on their way to airports and highways! Once again, each of my guests received outstanding customer service from courteous and professional...
Read moreA Memorable Thanksgiving Stay at The Foundry in Asheville Just in time for Thanksgiving, The Foundry, along with the rest of Asheville, finally had its safe drinking water supply reconnected, and we were so excited to experience everything the area had to offer after two months of closure due to Hurricane Helene. Our family had a fabulous three-day stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. From check-in to checkout, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. Even though the restaurant didn’t reopen until the following week, the head Sous Chef still came in and prepared custom gourmet breakfast sandwiches to die for with complimentary coffee served in their beautiful lounge area. Manager Roy, wearing many hats, ensured every guest had a wonderful start to the day before we headed off to explore the Biltmore, enjoy an Ebike tour, and experience the vibrant ambiance of Asheville recovering. The community’s resilience after the devastation of Hurricane Helene is truly inspiring, and hearing the local stories was humbling. Ashville is OPEN – come back and support these hardworking individuals as they rebuild this beautiful mountain town. The Foundry, part of the Hilton Curio Collection, offers an incredible combination of history and modern comfort in a very private setting in the heart of Ashville. Every aspect of the design, from spacious rooms with super comfortable beds to the impeccable restoration of the century-old buildings, tells the story of Asheville’s rich past. Totally walkabout location to everything downtown – there is SO MUCH TO DO! Pack your hat, coat and gloves for beautiful cool, crisp, sunny days. A special shout-out to all the staff who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not just memorable, but truly a 5-star experience. Roy, Seth, Jessie, Tony, Takidra (who before the hotel was back open was corresponding by email with us to help us plan our stay with dedication, warmth and hospitality) , and Donovan the awesome, “nothing is too much trouble” valet—thank you for your outstanding service. We can't...
Read moreAsheville has long been one of my favorite travel destinations with my partner, but this was our first stay at The Foundry and overall, I was very impressed.
PROS:
Gorgeous, new-ish (opened in late 2018) property…Asheville’s historical steel factory transformed into an upscale hotel with industrial and “steampunK” style accents. The room was quiet and comfortable, with great bedding, high ceilings, remote-controlled curtains, and a beautiful view of the hotel’s inviting, grassy, central courtyard area.
Location is ideal, within walking distance of so many excellent downtown restaurants, bars, attractions, and parks.
Staff is absolutely awesome…I have to offer particular shout outs to exemplary employees Matthew and Gabe, as well as charming Cam and “Tesla Jake”…they just don’t come much better than these folks.
CONS:
Housekeeping was surprisingly erratic for a hotel in this price range. Some surfaces were noticeably dusty and calls were repeatedly required to ask for expected basics like bath tissue, towels, and drinking glasses.
No iron or ironing board in room, hotel provides a small clothes steamer instead. I know most travelers don't want to spend their vacations ironing clothes but, as this visit was in August, I had several linen shirts in my luggage that REALLY needed to be touched up with a hot iron...that steamer definitely wasn't adequate for the job.
Highly rated Benne on Eagle was a bit of a disappointment. Slightly above average for a hotel restaurant, I guess, but nothing truly special.
After checking in at the front desk, I noticed the couple next in line behind us were offered their choice of champagne or water…no such offer was made to my partner and me. What’s up with the inconsistency with that little amenity, Foundry?!
Regardless, the major pros definitely outweigh the minor cons and, again, I highly recommend this property for its...
