Solid option in Asheville for travelers with families. Room: We stayed in a queen-bedroom suite (#426), which featured a walk-through kitchen with a closet, sitting area with a couch, desk with rolling chair, and TV, corner bedroom with another TV and closet, and a bathroom with shower/tub combo. The corner room is a nice touch but is noisy even at night as it faces the highway. The living room couch folds-out into a futon sleeping surface but doesn't include a mattress. While the finishings are pretty typical of a TownePlace, we still enjoyed the modern amenities in the suite - plenty of lighting and storage and sturdy roomy interior (~700 sq ft). Facilities: The hotel is relatively new (opened in Aug 2021) and the interior still looks fresh. The free breakfast offers plenty with hot entrees (croissant ham sandwiches, tasty quiches, french toast sticks, etc.), muffins and pastries, yogurt, oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, etc. The exercise room, washer and dryer facilities, and outdoor area with fireplace are located on the first floor. There is surface level parking and a parking garage downstairs, which can be tight to navigate. Service: Michael and Susanna offered a friendly check-in. Location: The location is located close to downtown Asheville and right off the highway exit. As other reviews have noted, the rooms facing the highway (suites and double queen rooms) are noisy, even at night. I'd recommend a single bed (facing the parking lot away from the highway) unless you need two beds. Value: Our total came out to $173/night (including a $15 charge for parking), which was ok value. During our visit, this price point was on the budget-side for stays in the Asheville area.

This review has been edited from one star to two stars. The manager requested several times for me to change my review and focus more on what the hotel had to offer as opposed to safety inside the hotel. I found these interactions very uncomfortable and found myself leaving through the side door to avoid him. The room had some nice features. We enjoyed the kitchen and also the large screen TV. The room we had had a nice view. Now for the bad parts. The fold out sofa bed did not have a mattress for it. I know from stays in other locations there is a mattress that is supposed to go on top of it. So the person sleeping there was very uncomfortable. The bathtub had some rusty screws that someone could be injured on. I couldn't risk taking a shower there as I have a condition which makes me prone to infections and slow healing. This is especially bad since this is a room for people with handicaps. Safety was a major issue for us. When we checked in there was a homeless encampment in front. While we were taking our things up to our room a homeless man was waiting in the stairwell and as soon as we called the elevator with our key card he walked out and got on with us and went to another floor. Two days later we were going out to dinner and couldn't leave because a police car was blocking us in. A guest was robbed inside of his room. The men took one of the large screen TVs. We heard him giving his report to the police while we were waiting to leave.

This was a great hotel experience. We've stayed in a lot of hotels, and this one ranks up there on the better side. First, the location is great. It should be noted it is literally alongside the freeway on one side. Although we can't talk to the rooms along that side of the building, my husband did report that the fitness center was well sound proofed which was on the freeway side. I personally would bring earplugs and a face mask, in the event that the sound and lights were a problem. However, this hotel was easy to access from the freeway and also was within a few minutes walk from downtown. Secondly, the staff were super friendly and professional. Third, this hotel has a lot small considerations for the guests: games to borrow at the front desk; a snack area where guests can purchase a beverage or other items; a laundry (cost $2); a nice hot breakfast. Finally, we really liked the room, which looked recently updated and was outfitted in a considerate way. We made use of the pegs to hang up our jackets. We used our little kitchenette. Although not a new thing, I still enjoyed they have the plugs directly to USB plug-ins. We both thought the shower was nice and we were pleased with the window shades. They have pull down shades (sheer and blackout). We are pretty picky about light at night, but the blackout shade was pretty efficient. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

This beautiful Marriott TownePlace Suites property is perfectly situated in downtown Asheville just off I-240. The property is just a 4-minute walk (0.2mi.) to Trader Joes and Harris Teeter grocery stores, an 11-minute walk to Harrah's Cherokee Performing Arts Center (0.5mi.), and a 12-15 minute walk (0.4-0.8 mi.) to the downtown bars, restaurants, Art Museum, Museum of Science, etc. This property is a new hotel with clean and modern new furnishings, comfortable bedding, and nice linens. The suites have a refrigerator/freezer with ice-maker, a 2-burner cooktop, dishes and glassware, utensils, etc. There is a nice desk/work area with plenty of USB and electric connections and more than adequate lighting. There is a nice quaint fitness center with cardio machines, kettle bell weights, etc. Unfortunately, this property does not have a pool. There is limited parking outside and in the hotel parking garage (both with very good lighting) at a $15/day parking fee. The common area is nicely furnished and provides adequate seating for the daily breakfast served, which included eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, fresh fruit, breakfast breads, milk, juices, and delicious hot coffee during our stay. Our breakfast was kept fresh and plentiful by Jessica, who was coordinating the breakfast preparation and service during our stay. Jessica was kind, courteous, and very helpful. The housekeeping and maintenance team members did an outstanding job maintaining the cleanliness of the rooms and common areas, and were very friendly and courteous as well. Other front desk associates that were very helpful during our stay were Revelyn, Talomy, and Rachel. All were always very welcoming, smiling, and courteous, and reminded us of amenities available if we would like to use such as various board games or a BBQ grill and tools should we want to grill outside! They took the time to reach out to us as guests to inquire about our stay, and see if there was anything else that we could possibly need. On check-in day, we were greeted and checked-in by Chris, the Ops Manager, who provided exceptional customer service. Chris thoroughly explained all of the hotel amenities and locations, and thanked us and valued us as guests. Shortly after check-in, Chris followed up making sure all of our requests (pillows, extra linens, etc.) were fulfilled, and that we were comfortable in our room. The next day we had the opportunity to meet Tonya, the General Manager of the property, who reached out with a warm welcome and smile, inquiring about our stay, and reminding us to reach out to her or her team if we had any other needs. What was most impressive was the positive attitude and exceptional service provided by all associates, including hotel management, that exceeded our expectations. Their dedication to their guests was evident in all of their words, actions, and positive attitudes. This is a property that we highly recommend, and look forward to...

SAFETY: The hotel advertises that it is steps from downtown dining and entertainment. It isn’t safe to walk to the downtown area because there is a large homeless camp under the interstate and you can’t really avoid it if you are going to walk downtown. We were advised at check-in that the property has 24 hour security at night. We noticed people waking up in the lots close to the hotel. The area is not safe to walk around in the evening.

HOUSEKEEPING: Our room was not made up during our entire stay but we were not ever told that limited housekeeping was being provided. We checked in on Monday and departed on Thursday. We requested towels through the app on Wednesday morning and they were marked as delivered as delivered at 1:49 pm. We arrived back at the hotel in the evening and we still only had the same towels from the first day.

FRONT DESK: Tuesday evening we received a call at 10:45 PM from the front desk asking if we would change rooms in the morning. We were shocked that they would call us this late when we had plans to leave for a tour early in the morning. We were even more surprised that they would ask us to change rooms. We refused and the next day our keys were deactivated. The front desk reactivated our key for us without any issues. When I checked out early Thursday morning I was advised by the front desk clerk that he was not sure how to check me out and asked me to be patient. He was the only employee present at 6:40 am and he told me he was only a trainee and he was just learning how to check out a guest. He was kind and polite and I told him he could check me out and email me a receipt. I received my receipt as promised.

NOISE: The hotel sits right next to the interstate and if you are a light sleeper you will notice the noise.

APPEARANCE: The front porch is very attractive and includes a fireplace and chairs but they face the interstate and are very close to the road. The hotel does not include a business center or conference room but the lobby is comfortable and spacious. The gym is well equipped and there are laundry machines onsite. Our room was brand new and very nice. The bed was very comfortable and it had a nice little kitchen. If you are looking for a nice comfortable room and you are willing to drive to your destinations it will not take you very long to travel to downtown or over to the Biltmore by car. The staff is friendly but they are poorly trained.

BREAKFAST: The breakfast and coffee was better than most similar properties.

OPTIONS: There are great hotel options in Asheville and because I am a Marriott Titanium Member I try to stay at Marriott Properties. This property does not represent the quality that I customarily experience when I stay at a Marriott. There are so many great hotel options in Asheville but this is not a...
