Had an absolutely insulting experience with the salesperson here today. If your vintage beaded dresses are so delicate that I can't shop in peace or carefully hold them up to my person (because I am an adult and capable of this), then I certainly can't wear one to my upcoming Gala and won't be spending over $100 on a dress and hat. The salesperson went as far as to PHYSICALLY BLOCK the dresses I was looking at. I have never been treated like trash in a coture dress shop or a high end vintage store, but boy was it clear that I wasn't welcome. Won't be back. Won't reccomend to my friends. Perhaps you should consider a locked door with a doorbell so that you can pick and choose your customers if being polite and accommodating is too hard.
Update, because I DO appreciate your response, but I fully and completely disagree that staring me down while physically blocking me from the sales space is at all appropriate, no matter what sign you may have had up. To make its clear as day-- the photo featured on this page is literally the space you disallowed me from. There is NO logical explanation for how it would ever look like a part of the store a purchasing customer wouldn't be welcome in-- you literally choose that section to represent the store! She even went as far as staring me down once I had already left the area, and further blocking the area off, making her nonverbal communication directed at me, and observed by my companion clear as day. I immediately left. Embarassing people who are legitimately interested in a purchase will NEVER result in a sale. This is not customer service, and you lost money because it created a hostile environment for me. You don't get to decide if my discomfort is 'just a misunderstanding' on my part, that's deflection, and it's insulting. If this were truly an ongoing issue, WHY was it not resolved long ago. Again, what a TERRIBLE experience this was! IF the dresses we displayed in plastic (which would protect them) and displayed in a manner where I could have seen them easily this would never have happened. That's on you. Your store won't be featured in the fashion notes of a very popular regional event, so you lost advertising and you lost money.
Judging from the other reviews, and your responses to them, I can see that you are trying to cultivate a business, but if you alienate POC, and regular people just trying to get a damn dress in peace, the supposed LBGTQIA safe space won't be an attractive selling point anymore, because you're not providing a safe space for anyone else. Start believing...
Read moreEDIT: I mentioned Amazon because the exact corset that was in your store was a modern fast fashion piece from Amazon. It’s quite literally called the “Amazon corset” by a lot of vintage sellers and is pretty well known. I’m not trying to compare your store to Amazon. I’m saying you can’t sell an item for $55 and call it vintage when it is MODERN and STILL SOLD on Amazon / Aliexpress / Fast fashion unethical garbage for $20. That’s misleading. The performer you mentioned most likely got it from there or they also got misled.
I am leaving this review as a vintage curator for context! This is a very interesting store with a lot of unique finds for very reasonable prices! The staff were also friendly and helpful. The only reason why I deducted a star was the jarring random modern fast fashion pieces priced THE SAME as vintage pieces. As in, I saw an Amazon fast fashion corset you can buy right now for $20 that’s low quality priced at $55. The tag makes it obvious too even if I hadn’t seen it on Amazon. I also saw modern band tees you would find at Walmart or Target priced the same as the vintage band tees which makes no sense to me. It’s pretty common knowledge that printed on tag means modern but these very generic mass produced shirts were priced the same as the vintage ones which I feel could mess up for the experience even for someone that doesn’t know their vintage. “I could’ve sworn I saw this in target last year…” I just wish there was a bit more of a review process to make absolute certain that the pieces are good quality...
Read moreI’m giving Honeypot 2 stars because I, at least like the nice selection of vintage finds here. However as I browsed through the items I notice a trend. Regular t shirts and sweaters with an overpriced tag. I found a regular t-shirt. It was priced as 42 dollars. A pink light cardigan priced at 32 dollars. This was not a brand named item neither was it cashmere, wool, or anything which might contribute to the price. I noticed even the earrings( nothing extravagant) were priced at 15-35 dollars. For a vintage shop with Some second hand items you would think it wouldn’t be so expensive. After all that’s not the point of a vintage clothing store( with second hand items) with the fur coats and fur hats it is understandable. Items more in delicate condition would be understandable. After noticing this overpriced trend I left the store. I may come back to browse but I certainly will be saving my money and will instead spend my money at a vintage/consignment shop with reasonable prices
Response to Owner: the passive aggressive tone oozes from this reply yikes. And no I highly doubt you went to search throughout the entire store. I’ve been doing google reviews for a while now. There’s no reason I would lie whatsoever about a price. The t shirts I saw were 30$+. What I should’ve done was take a picture of it but I didn’t. You guys have some high priced regular items just accept you got a negative review and...
