The Windsor Boutique hotel is a great idea and works well with a few problems. The hotel is situated in the heart of downtown and you can walk to almost everything. This hotel doesn’t have parking so when you arrive it’s a bit of a struggle to park out front (if you can find a free spot). Once parked you have to unload your entire vehicle on the sidewalk in front of people walking and touring the city.
When you get inside the hotel you’ll notice how nice it looks in the small lobby, they check you in under 3 minutes and your off to your room. The lobby has free coffee and drinks that are always complimentary.
The rooms are huge with a nice kitchen, eating area, living room, bedroom and bathroom. But here are where the problems start.
The building is very old and has been restored, they kept the super cool old floors and if you stay on the 2nd floor you hear everyone above you at all times. So make sure you rent 3rd floor rooms only!
Each room has DirectTV to watch your favorite shows but they disabled recording so you can’t record, rewind, pause. Not a huge deal but I missed 15 minutes of our late night movie on a bathroom break.
The minisplit heat and AC units are mounted on the walls, one was right above our bed and cold air was blowing right on the bed. My wife couldn’t sleep with the air blowing directly on us and I had to turn it off.
Bathrooms are a bit small and women don’t have a place to sit and put makeup on and do their hair.
Anytime you want to drive anywhere you’ll have to fetch your vehicle a block away at the parking garage this hotel doesn’t offer parking.
The Hotel has a huge kitchen but they don’t offer any room service at all. The closest grocery store is a mile away, you have to get food, come back and find parking in front of the hotel and unload. Then you have to drive a block away to the parking deck and walk back to the hotel. Not a big issue but a little trouble for some food.
If you can get past those small issue this is a great...
Read moreThis hotel is about as close to perfection as it comes. The location is great for us. We are able to walk to everything we needed. Of course since it's in downtown Asheville, there will be noise sometimes, and you will see panhandlers or whatever, but that's the trade off of being in downtown. I think it's unreasonable to expect otherwise. The building inside is beautiful. The lobby is nice and the complimentary snacks are great quality (fruit leather, nespresso, keurig, etc.). The rooms are huge and appliances are top notch. The bathroom is small, yes, but it's an old building so it's understandable. Everything is SUPER clean and the front desk is always kind. The best part about this hotel is that they clearly listen to every complaint. Before I booked here, I looked for the few negative reviews I could find online. Some mentioned the noise - now there's a white noise machine (and I'm not sure about other rooms but my bedroom has double pane windows installed). Some mentioned lack of parking - now there's free parking. Some mentioned no one to help with luggage - now they text you before arrival to find out when you will come so they can be sure to help you with your luggage - they helped us with ours and took all of them to our room for us. You will not find this level of service anywhere. There's not a speck of dust on anything - even the hard to reach areas. All of the pots and pans and utensils are even sparkling clean. Not a single light bulb is out. That is no easy task! The rooms aren't cheap but while we are here they are sold out, so that should tell you something. This hotel also makes you feel very safe. They lock their front door at night and you access it with parts of your own cellphone number - easy to remember and secure. This hotel is...
Read moreMy husband and I came up for one night for my 30th birthday. Once we got into our room we realized our toilet wasn’t filling with water so we couldn’t flush. We notified the front desk on the way out as we left for dinner that night. On the way back in we were told that there was an issue with the water filling but maintenance would be by in the morning to fix it. The front desk left us a note (see picture) explaining the issue. They also left a $25 gift card to a cocktail bar. Unfortunately this does us any good as I am pregnant and can’t drink. Not to mention we were only staying for one night and were already in for the evening so when was even my husband going to use this gift card? So for the entire night and morning my husband and I took turns filling up the toilet with water so we could flush it. When we woke up the next morning to brush our teeth, we noticed brown water coming from the sink. No one had mentioned to us any issues with water so we had no idea what was going on. When we checked out that morning we were told we would be given a $50 credit (out of $600) for not being able to use our toilet. We asked about the water and were told there was a boil advisory for Asheville, although we were “supposed” to have been told about it when we checked in. So we couldn’t use the restroom, couldn’t brush our teeth/wash our face and we paid over $600. Would have been better off staying at the best western. Extremely disappointed by the communication and conflict resolution by the management staff. We definitely won’t be returning and will make sure all of our friends and family...
