HIGHLY RECOMMEND—Awesome food and absolutely amazing staff

I love the food here…it’s so good that I craved the calzone for 4 years after moving away from the AL location and was reunited at this NC location 🥰. Our waitress was so sweet and put some extra smiles in our day.

Not only is the food delicious but the staff is even better. Tonight a friend and I were roaming around popping in and out of shops until after dark, when 2 men began to follow us and attempted to isolate us into an alley close by. Luckily we are always alert and made sure to cross several streets and dip into Mellow Mushroom. We asked the hostess to use the restroom as we were being followed, she immediately pointed the way, and after offered to let us hang out at the bar or even step outside with us to determine if it was clear to access our car just up the road (right where the men were previously standing and watching us enter MM). Once we agreed to look as a team, she notified her manager who took it upon himself to walk us to our car and stay there until we were locked in and safely driving away.

Let me say, thank you thank you and thank you. We had an amazing lunch and then were made to feel welcome and safe with the actions of the staff. We are both more than appreciative and want to encourage others to be aware of your surroundings and DEFINITELY stop in for some delicious food 😊

Ms Kim recommended Mellow Mushroom as an excellent spot in downtown Asheville, and she wasn't wrong about the food. We were able to grab a table outside on a beautiful day, far enough from the street to people watch but not be bothered by vehicle traffic. The well outfitted outdoor area was comfortable with plenty of flora to make it cozy and intimate. We were seated immediately, and our wait staff popped up almost before I could settle into my seat. We ordered drinks that arrived just as we decided on food. I picked the House Special pizza, like the meat lover's but add veggies too. It wasn't just good, it was special... tender but crisp crust, ample toppings, precisely sliced Roma tomatoes and all perfectly cooked. As a pizza lover, I was both pleased and impressed. They have ample menu selections to satisfy any palate, the service is excellent, the ambiance is casual but classic pizza place, outdoor seating is the way to go, and the beer is cold with a nice selection of draught beers including Highland Gaelic Ale, a local fave. We love this pizza spot, it’s our go to in Asheville, and we order from it often. Tonight, we ordered 2 pizzas as takeout and showed up at about 7:15 PM (it closes at 9 PM) and picked up our pizzas from the bar. It was a mellow night, not too busy or crowded. We decided we wanted to enjoy the funky atmosphere and eat our takeout at the restaurant and asked the guy behind the bar, Taylor, if we could. We suggested we could sit at the bar and order some beers and just eat out of the boxes. Taylor told us we couldn’t dine in because then someone would “have to clean up after us and wipe the table”. I told him we wouldn’t make a mess and eat out of our box and not need anything other than maybe ordering a beer at the bar. He kept telling us we couldn’t. We’ve had great customer service here in the past, so this was shocking. It would have made sense if they were super busy or about to close but neither were true in this instance. If we had shown up as customers to dine in, they would have seated us and we were willing to order some drinks to have something to tip on additionally. We love this place but this service...
