We stayed here for the four-day weekend of Valentine's Day. We chose This hotel for its location And we were traveling with myself, my husband, my son and my mother.
CHECK IN: We arrived early and they allowed us to check in early but charged us $25 a room. Also, there is a $150 deposit that is due per room. I've never experienced this at any other comfort hotel before. Checking in was OK but the lady at the front desk was not very personable or friendly.
ROOMS: The rooms are dated but we are only using it to sleep so this was fine. One use of the microwave and all the lights went out so just be careful with that. There were holes in both of the curtains for both of our rooms. The bed was OK to sleep in but definitely a firm mattress with minimal padding. The blankets were very thin and I was told that the front desk did not have extra blankets so I recommend bringing an extra One if you have someone in your room who is a hot sleeper. I ended up layering bath towels to keep warm because my husband is a hot sleeper. The room was clean so there were no issues with that. Basic Toiletries are provided which included soap, Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. You also get an ample number of towels. We were given four towels, four washcloths and four hand towels. Throughout our stay, our room was not cleaned. not sure if this is something you had to request but no one ever came into our room. They did come into my mother's room but only made one of the beds
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Other than our initial experience, customer service was fantastic. Ruby, the person we saw most at the front desk, was amazing. She was very quick to respond to any needs, extremely friendly and personal, and overall seemed to enjoy her job and be good at it. The breakfast crew was also on point. They kept stuff stocked and hot. For some reason, we had to reset our keys every day. Every 24 hours, our key would not work for our room so we had to go get a new one. This was the same for my mother's room. Checkout process was also very easy and the front desk staff was friendly.
BREAKFAST Breakfast was on point. It varied each day. On day one we had eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, waffles and fruit. On day two, there were roasted potatoes, cheese omelettes, waffles, biscuits and gravy And French toast sticks. They also have cereal, yogurt and an assortment of pastries each day. Drinks or apple juice, orange juice, a mixed fruit juice and water (all of which were properly chilled).
LOCATION The location for us was great. It was about 2 to 5 miles to everything we wanted to see. Bus 49 runs right to the hotel parking lot and takes you down to five points in about 15 minutes. Five points is a major train hub so you can get almost anywhere. We opted for the four day pass for $19 and "got our moneys worth." There are several food areas within a few blocks walk in the hotel recommends a barbecue place down the street. We were not impressed and it seemed overpriced but it is a good option with a variety of food. There are also tons of options for delivery to the hotel.
THE ATMOSPHERE The ENTIRE place smells like marijuana. I'm not sure if this is a normal thing in Atlanta but it's not legal here in Texas so we were shocked about how prevalent this smell was in places that we went. People are regularly screaming and yelling, and overall generally very loud with their conversations and interactions. It was not uncommon for people to have full on profane arguments on their cell phones on speaker during breakfast, in the halls, in the parking lot, etc. It's definitely not what I would call a "quiet or peaceful" hotel. Also, there's quite a bit of traffic noise because it's right off the highway. Recommend earplugs and preparing your children for the smells and...
Read moreThe Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. The bad outweighs the good, but let's start with the good. The Good: Cordaelia and Kimyata at the front desk were AWESOME!!! Cordaelia gave us a nice gold member packet with snacks in it when we arrived, and Kimyata asked to make sure we received one when we left. Great attitudes and amazing service. The manager was great that first night as well. Breakfast was hot and the serving lady refilled everything with a great attitude on day 1. She was nice to us and our children. Very cordial and sweet. Kids loved the in-room jacuzzi and the orange juice. Some of the staff greeted us and were nice as well. On to the bad: As Gold members, we at least expect the bare minimum, like a shower curtain. Water went everywhere and it took a way too long to get one in the room. We only had one working lamp. 2 other bulbs were out and asked to be replaced, but they never were, even after they promised to fix that issue. Roaches were in the dresser drawers. Room smelled funky upon arrival. AC didn't work well at least in our room. Long hairs were under the pillows. In the stack of coffee cups, the last one had a long black hair in it. No room service almost the whole stay. Emptied our own trash into the lobby trashcan. Had to request towels because of no room service. We were brought pool towels on the last day (thanks), along with the shower curtain we asked for, but the person who came in threw away my food that I had on the counter. What!? Who does that!? And why? My meal for later was gone when arriving back at the hotel that evening, and I was hungry! Grrrr. But we didn't complain and just ate other food we had brought. The 2nd day was crazy at breakfast. The really sweet server lady must not have slept well, because she was - to be frank - quite rude out of nowhere. Definitely didn't see it coming, and hope whatever her personal problem got resolved. She scolded me for leaving a large serving spoon in a serving tray. Which in actuality, was already there prior to me using it. Then the waffle batter was running low and almost empty. So I stood there holding the batter tap to let whatever was left drip into my cup (I had 2 minutes to wait for another person's waffle to finish), and lady goes OFF on me for holding the tap. "IT'S EMPTY! CAN'T YOU SEE THAT, SIR?" Lol, Okaaaaaay. I said nothing. Later I tried to make her feel better and thanked her for serving everyone so well. She smirked and said something sarcastic. After that she yelled at me when I was getting orange juice for not seeing a spill that she was about to clean up. What a deranged jerk she was on day 2! Can't believe it was the same precious lady from the day before. What in the world? By the way, the only thing I said to her on the second day was the thank you - I did not say one rude thing to her or do anything aggressive or even passive aggressive. Total insanity. Who acts that way toward guests? She should be reprimanded and reminded that she DOES know how to treat people and to act accordingly while leaving her frustrations at home. On to the ugly. The pool was not the best, the parking lot full of potholes. I felt gross after swimming. Those things are not too big of a deal for us, but not sure I would recommend swimming. We had a good time despite everything....because we chose to. :) Some really good things about this place, but had too many negative things occur to give it a high rating. It has potential because of a few great people. Unfortunately there's some slack ones and bad attitude ones too. Hope this...
Read moreA fine location in walking distance of Believe Music Hall! But that’s it. My friends and I checked in this past Friday night for an online booking. The receptionist asked for a card so she could charge the incident fee. I was getting confused as to what I was paying for because I didn’t quite connect the dots to the incident fee meaning the deposit. She just kept telling me it’s the incident fee charge, not really explaining that it is just a hold. I guess she got annoyed at my confusion and this showed when she told me that she “doesn’t understand what im not getting” with a belittling attitude. My friends then came in and told me that it was the deposit that gets refunded and I was like oh! okay no problem. Now one of my friends did kind of make a surprised face of disbelief when the receptionist spoke to me like that! She didn’t appreciate the service and it was an attitude that caught us all off guard. The receptionist then proceeded to talk about how she can read body language and wanted us to be respectful in regards to the surprised face my friend made. And I can only assume that she didn’t appreciate us speaking between english and Spanish amongst ourselves when this was going on. After that little spiff I continued to check-in fine. There was nothing ugly really about what happened. As far as I was concerned it was late and we were all tired and lagging between our long drive and her late shift. But things did get ugly when, after going up to our room (which by the way their elevator wasn’t working and we almost got stuck in it. We had to open the door with our hands when it reached our floor), and getting ready and going out, we come back to the hotel at 3 in the morning and find our key cards were not working. We went downstairs to let them know and come to find out they turned off our cards and were kicking us out. They were saying that we called them threatening them when we did nothing of the sort! There wasn’t even record on any of our phones calling the hotel! The receptionist was saying that she recognized one of our “accents”. (None of us really have such noticeably heavy accents, and she was saying it was my friend who I mentioned made a facial expression earlier.) It was a made up excuse to kick us out, and I don’t even know what to call the fact of them using us being hispanic as leverage to claim we had an “accent”. There was absolutely no reason for such a scenario to be made up other than because of the confusion and a facial expression! And even then that reason is beyond childish and unprofessional. And they had two cops there to make sure we left! Next thing we know we had to rush and pack our bags and hope to find somewhere to stay. (We ended up having to drive 40 minutes away to stay at a friends house) (And even the cops acknowledged that we were falsely accused and the whole situation was uncalled for) Oh! And Fun Fact: one of the ladies told our friend privately (who wasn’t there during check-in with us) that he could still stay if he needed to, she just didn’t like the other four of us girls who had been there during the check-in… if that...
