We really wanted to like this as we moved our office nearby recently and wanted to find a new go to for lunch, but were unfortunately disappointed. I’m from Houston and have spent quite a bit of time in Mexico City, so was hopeful. We tried to start with jalapeños rellenos, but were informed that they were not available. We wanted a white wine, but they don’t carry any that are not sparkling or red so I got a beer and my partner got the house margarita. We each ordered the lunch special consisting of three tacos, rice and beans for $18 per person. My partner ordered the camarones, al pastor, and “ribeye” tacos and I the camarones, al pastor and carnitas. We were informed that they had just gotten some pork and it hadn’t been processed/marinated so the carnitas and al pastor had to be switched. We both ended up with shrimp, chicken, and “ribeye.” The shrimp was actually pretty good, but the chicken and beef were both dry, and if that beef was ribeye as they claimed, I have never had that cut of meat dryer. They made a point on the menu to mention that they mill various types of heirloom corn for their tortillas, and maybe that drove this, but the tortillas were also super dry. The black beans lacked any personality and were overly salty and the rice was mushy and the salsas weren’t much to write home about either. On the upside, the service was friendly and attentive and my partner’s margarita had some kick to it (though she thought the lime component seemed like it came from a mix). At $15, we would have expected better. One other item of note: the online lunch menu had the tacos at $4/ and the menu on the table had them listed at $7/. Could have mistakenly placed the dinner menu? Didn’t impact us since we had the special, but something to be aware of. I really did want to like it, and maybe today was unusual, but it was a disappointment all in all.

Came here with a friend last night for a last minute meal and had a fantastic time. The food was brilliant and the drinks were outstanding. The tortillas are made fresh with your order and it truly makes a difference. We ordered tacos (veg & non-veg). The hibiscus tacos were really flavorful and I truly also enjoyed the mushroom…even though I don’t really like mushroom. The owner (Elio) was gracious enough to let us stay well beyond closing time. Gabe made some fantastic drinks including non-alcoholic for myself. Overall, I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back again. Celiac Update: this place is celiac safe. I called Elio prior to coming to the restaurant to see if it was celiac safe. He was very helpful in guiding me on what was and was not safe. Our entire family loved the food on our second trip to this spot. More importantly, no issues with being glutened!

I saw this restaurant list as "elevated Mexican" and decided to try it. The quality of the food was definitely not elevated. I had the al pastor tacos and the guacamole. Despite being creatively prepared with pomegranate seeds, it still missed the mark. At $18, It was served in a bowl that was deceptively shallow. It appeared to be a very large serving but was actually rather small. Additionally the rice and beans that came with the tacos was remarkably tiny. It's really fine because who needs the amount of rice and beans that you normally get at a Mexican restaurant but it was really noticeable how small they were. The meat on the tacos themselves was very fatty and hard to chew. Definitely do not recommend those tacos. Given the knowledge beforehand I would just choose another restaurant. Most of the food was rather bland. Even a salt shaker would have helped.

Came for the experience of the fun new local Mexican place, thinking the joint could become a casual, regular spot for us as this place lets on. Expected normal Mexican food prices and a casual atmosphere, but left wondering where my money went. Really wanting to find a reason to come back to support a local business but something's gotta change for them to win attention over the neighboring restaurants. This block has such good food.

Prices are definitely marked up more than expected for the spot being a curbside joint, but they are working on that - they were stretching for a price point that just wasn't there on value. Server was extremely friendly and highly responsive but you could tell he and a few others lacked the serving experience that would normally fetch a $100 bill for a meal. Overall he was a good selling point of the place - even went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed.

Food was good, just would have liked to see my dollar stretch farther. I think they have some pretty cool concepts, just need to sell the stories better to fetch the prices they want. Walked out paying $96 for 3 drinks (2 beers), 1 app (bean dip), and 2 entrees (tacos).

We live nearby, but May take our money to one of the neighboring restaurants next time - more bang for the buck and the value proposition feels more spot on.

If they get their menu prices right, and dial in the experience of their serving staff we will definitely be back. 4 stars for being new and figuring it all out! Good luck with the new restaurant,...
