Came by Big Softie to have some ice cream after lunch on Friday. I'd had this bookmarked for a while and so I was excited to give it a try. Big Softie is right next to its sister restaurant, Little Tart (a bakery). It's a small shop with only a couple of counter seats, so definitely plan on taking your treat to go! No big deal and not unusual for ice cream shops, just something to know. Honestly, the vibes were immaculate, and I almost rounded up to a 4 based on those alone. Very progressive space that feels welcoming. I was personally happy to see the extra surcharge that goes toward employee health insurance. Plus, any place that's playing Ashnikko when I walk in gets bonus points. However, service and product were just okay to me. The employees weren't quite as friendly as those next door at Little Tart. Not unfriendly per se, but not going the extra mile to be super pleasant, either. That's okay, really; my main complaint is that I ordered my ice cream in a cake cone and it came out to me in a bowl. I was in a really big hurry and didn't want to be a bother so I just took it and left, but it was still a little disappointing. The soft serve itself was decent. I got a chocolate and vanilla swirl with cookie pieces on top. I liked the chocolate part better than the vanilla; it had a more distinct chocolatey taste. While they were generous with the cookie pieces, it wasn't what I expected based on the description on the menu. I was assuming it'd be like crumbled Oreos, but these were definitely like CHOCOLATE cookie pieces (think like the cookie base of a double chocolate chip cookie, or a crumblier chocolate cake). That honestly would've been fine, but the crumbles were very stale. The ice cream rehydrated them a little bit but some of the larger pieces remained pretty dry. I'd consider returning, especially to try a more experimental flavor (sad I was just a few weeks too late to try the Thai tea soft serve), but would probably avoid the chocolate cookie pieces going forward.

After a very fulfilling dinner, ice cream was a MUST!!! This place was recommended by a very nice man, we met while buying ice cream at another establishment. Lol. Don't judge me. He was right, this place is MAGNIFICENT!!! Reminds me of my childhood obsession with Mr. Softee ice cream but BETTER!! All the ice cream is made in house(vegan too I believe) and you can tell by the taste. The quality is on point!! They had a flavor of the day perhaps month: Salted Caramel soft serve on a waffle cone and I could not live without my rainbow sprinkles!!! The rainbow sprinkles were not only beautiful but TASTY( like no sprinkles I've had before) The cone felt like it was just made, that is how fresh it tasted! All 3 ice creams costed less than $20. I would have paid more and I have for mediocre to pretty bad ...so called ice cream!!! We went during the week, so there were no lines but constant customers coming in and out. They had a nice variety of ice cream, toppings, cones and so forth!! Don't think about it just GO!!! I will dream about my next flavor to try and hope I return asap!! This place over exceeded my expectations and I'm finicky....the employees were super pleasant and gave me plenty of input on my choices. They obviously know what they are talking about. Sooo in LOVE with this place. The surrounding area is adorable. Plenty of shops, restaurants and so forth. Thank you!!!

The weather was nice, the friends were out for a stroll after a morning of volunteering, what better reasons to stop into Big Softie for a cool treat! LoL.

As I walked in my senses were attacked by fresh smells of sweet cream and fresh waffle cones. To say I was instantly excited would be an understatement. I was overjoyed by the instant memories of childhood and the local ice cream parlor. The nostalgia was free with my order. Ha!

Walking up to the cashier to order, the young lady was very nice and greeted me with a smile. As I was the last of the group to order I knew what I wanted. I partook in a small vanilla on a cake cone with rainbow sprinkles (jimmies where I’m from). I placed my order, provided my name, and stood to the side.

Once my order was ready, my name was called and my excitement started all over again. The ice cream was perfectly sculpted. It looked as if every sprinkle was perfectly placed and the ice cream to cone ratio was perfecttttttttttttttttttt.

I’m one who bites the top of the swirl off first and upon FIRST BITE… I was planning my next visit back. LoL.

Fresh Ice Cream Fresh Cone Super Fresh Sprinkles And best of all, the cream to sugar ratio was algebraically perfect.

It’s official. I’ll be back in two weeks for my next fix. Dare I say, Big Softie is now in my Top 5 for Ice Cream, and #1 for Soft Serve.

Do yourself a favor and get...
