Where to begin with this mess of a hotel. Upon walking through the front door you are greeted with the pungent aroma of odoban mixed with a lovely array of cigarette smoke and what I assume might be pet odor. You make your way to your room hoping the smell will be left in the lobby and find that your room dropped right out of a 1980’s horror movie. Cheap bedding, patched walls, a damp smell probably from years of in wall air conditioners being run. When you get inside you expect that what you paid for was the most basic of rooms because you did only pay $69.00 for a single night to catch your extremely early flight out of the airport in the morning, but you don’t expect to find an unsafe, not up to code, pit that isn’t even suitable for the family of the staff who work here, that live directly above your room. Water pressure is like that of a slow trickling mountain stream. Relaxing when you are in the mountains but pointless for trying to brush your teeth with. The bathroom door is a lovely pocket door for out of the way clean lines, but when you remove the track for the door to slide in it makes for a less than stellar experience to listen to all your family members pee and just pray and cross your fingers that dinner agreed with everyone that night so you don’t have to experience the horror of listening to them poop their brains out because the door can’t be closed. We did attempt to close the door but it took two people and it dragged across the drab carpet rocking back and forth like a hobby horse. If there was a fire it would be a great place to say your final prayers since you might not be getting out of there if you are alone or your family already left the room screaming. The TV in the room has a wonderful volume control button for those who are hard of hearing or deaf. You can range from loud to loudest. The walls are onion thin and allow you to hear full conversations between your neighbors or the maintenance staff who are running their radio at 1am while they work in the industrial laundry room that sits with the door open right across from your room. This hotel is the perfect spot for all nocturnal customers. The family that I mentioned earlier that live upstairs run an all night jungle gym for your children. They will have such a great time jumping on the beds across the gap, occasionally landing on the floor. Which is a free service to create open living space between your room and theirs above. The front desk is more than happy to call the jungle gym room to see if they have open availability for your children but when the room is run by children, and all the fun going on, sometimes you will find that it was hard for them to get through. Multiple calls may be necessary at the 10:30pm, 11:30pm, and 12:30am times that you call. Be patient with them. They are busy working downstairs while their children run the jungle gym room. All in all, I think my car would have been a mistake to sleep in with all the quiet I would have experienced there. This was a great way to spend the night so that I didn’t have to wake up an hour earlier at my home around 2:30 am to make my 6 am flight out of Denver, rather than experience the Denver night life of a cheap hotel. Thank you econo lodge for providing such a lovely time. We will be back when Elon Musk...

The front desk ladies were nice, but not personable (which some people actually prefer). They can speak both English and Spanish.
Yes it smells like smoke (there are smoking rooms available) but it is NOT overpowering whatsoever. Not only that, this is the first hotel I have been to that didn't have cigarette burn holes on the blanket and sheets in a smoking room, which I was surprised and pleased about. Hotel was clean inside and out.
The location is clean and only a fifteen-twenty minute ride to the airport. I felt safe in the area where the hotel is (surrounded by other hotels and across the street from a nice apartment complex). The hotel also has multiple security cameras around the building.
I had only a few issues with my stay.
I overall enjoyed my stay and would recommend staying here for someone booking...
Read moreElevator was out of service so I had to carry my luggage up the stairs. Room was clean and the bed was generally comfortable, but there was a spot on the blanket that appeared to be old blood. I almost always lock the latch behind me, but was tired and went straight to bed without thinking. I fell right asleep and was startled when I awoke close to midnight from someone coming in to my room and turning on the lights. It was another customer!!! The lady was very apologetic and freaked out. The front desk had assigned her to my room forgetting they had already given me the room. I fell back to sleep, but unfortunately I had nightmares from the event all night. The front desk called about 15-min after the incident, waking me up again, and instead of being apologetic just wanted to know who was in the room because "no one was assigned" to the room. I wish I was more awake so I could have stated my mind- how on earth would I have got the keys?!
Some where between being woken up twice and the nightmares, I had a horrible night sleep.
The next morning I told the front desk about what happened when I checked out. They did not care one bit and just offered an explanation of what probably happened- which I did not ask for because I had just told them the explanation. No sincere apology was offered and one of the staff members snickered when I mentioned thank goodness I was not right out of the shower or changing.
Hopefully this is just a one time thing and no one else has to go through this. Mistakes happen, but I was not impressed how the staff handled the situation and did not feel like a...
