I honestly have to say this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
It all started at check-in. We booked online, and although the person who made the reservation wasn’t physically present, we had another adult with us. The front desk told us we needed to pay a $25 deposit—which was fine—but when we tried two different cards, both were declined, even though there were sufficient funds. No one explained anything until we contacted the person who made the reservation, and they told us it had to be paid with the same card used to book. This was never communicated by the hotel staff.
To make things worse, the man helping us just walked off mid-check-in and passed us off to a rude woman with glasses and locs. She ran the correct card and gave us our keys. The room itself was decent—clean and basic—but everything else was downhill from there.
Shortly after, I left to go to the 7-Eleven next door. When I came back, my key didn’t work. I went downstairs and the same woman told me she forgot to scan my card. I let it slide—people make mistakes—but the disrespect didn’t stop.
Later that night, I went downstairs to buy an ice cream. The same woman was vaping outside, came in, and told me, “These are $9—are you sure you don’t want to go to the gas station down the street? They’re $3 there.” It felt like she was implying I couldn’t afford it. I told her it was fine and bought it anyway, and then she made a slick comment like, “Oh, y’all got it like that.” Completely unprofessional and unnecessary.
The lobby was nice and the rooms were okay, but the water is not safe. I came to the hotel with clear skin, and while staying there I broke out in multiple spots on my face. The water doesn’t feel clean, and I would not trust it again.
Housekeeping was nonexistent. I stayed for a full week, and no one cleaned my room—not even once—even though I requested it several times. Completely unacceptable.
As for the staff, they were generally rude and unhelpful. The only person who showed any professionalism was a man named Bernie (I believe that’s his name). Everyone else made it feel like we were bothering them by simply asking for basic things. When we extended our stay and I asked for a new key, the same woman refused to give me one, even after I explained the reservation holder was upstairs.
At one point we asked for plastic utensils—she claimed they didn’t have any, then came back with just one fork. When we politely asked for another, she rolled her eyes and reluctantly brought one back. The attitude was constant.
The worst part? They overcharged us. They took more money than what we actually spent, which caused our account to go negative. When we brought it up to them, they casually said it was because of a “double charge”—something we were never told about. They offered no help or explanation. And to this day, our bank account is still not fixed because of the charge they messed up.
And finally—on our last day, we tried to extend our stay. The supervisor failed to mention that the room had already been sold to someone else. So while we were still staying in it, they rebooked the room. We ended up going online to extend our stay ourselves, only to be told later that it was no longer available. We were forced to leave, and they refunded us, but the fact that they sold the room while we were still in it is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.
To sum it all up: the hotel has rude, lazy staff, terrible communication, hidden charges, dirty water, nonexistent housekeeping, and no accountability. They’re quick to take your money, but completely avoid explaining anything when problems come up.
I repeat: DO NOT stay here....
Read moreI first stayed at this hotel two years ago. I thought they may have listened to their customer complaints and address some issues, but they did not. I arrived Monday 7-21-25. The Hotel lobby bar was all out of pizza and burgers. The manager said they were really busy over the weekend. The lobby bar now discourages drinking with exorbitant prices.... a domestic beer 12oz bottle is 7 bucks, a tiny little canned mixed drink is 18. there's wine by the glass, and no bottled booze. The hotel is showing its age, the carpet in the halls has tattered seams. The bathroom fixtures have chipped chrome. I overheard a customer in the lobby complaining about having to pay for parking, even though they are guests at the hotel.
The room is still okay. The hotel has free wifi.
I stayed in a room with a king bed and a sofa-bed. The shower and toilet are in the same little closet space and the sink is in the room. There is a bar sink, microwave and little refrigerator on the other side of the room. There is no separation between the king and sofa except for a partial wall between them, so don't expect privacy. There is only one TV, that turns to face one side or the other. The clock radio has two USB A sockets for charging, I use a data blocker adapter on my cord to prevent possible juice jacking. There is a table that doubles as a desk with a light. The room has two bottles of Evian water for 8 bucks each. The little pantry next to the front desk has just as expensive convenience pricing on water and candy (4 bucks for a small bag of M&Ms, 9 dollars for an ice cream bar). Go next door to 7-11 for snacks. Don't forget to pack a nail file and clippers, neither the hotel or the 7-11 carry these items.
Tuesday nothing out of the ordinary. Wednesday morning, no dinner plates for breakfast. I made a waffle and had to split it between a bowl and a small plate. Urban Sombrero moved to a new building in the same parking lot. Co-workers in the same class as I had some service issues in there this time. A different Mexican restaurant is opening soon in its old location (in the same lot ??). There is a new place called Boozy Biscuits (I didn't go there). The Uno's is closed. There is a pizza place in the same parking lot next to the (coming soon, Mexican). I walked by, and they appeared to have seating.
For good nearby food, I suggest Woolley's Bar & Lounge, located at the Woolley's Classic Suites. This hotel is next to an Aloft, located behind Applebee's. It's a 5 minute walk from Denver Place Hyatt. I only stay here for the close proximity to restaurants. The other hotel my company uses is a very long walk away from food.
I waited 45 minutes for a Hyatt Place 16250 East 40th Avenue shuttle... Only to find out after I Uber'd, it does not have a regular pickup like other hotels in the same area. If you need a shuttle to the hotel from the airport, you must call the front desk and request it.
Even though the hotel has a 45 minute to the airport shuttle, the driver doesn't swing around to arrivals on his way back. You'd also have to wait at the airport for 45+ minutes for pickup.
If you are standing at the airport, and seeing multiple shuttles from the same hotels, thinking to yourself where the heck is my shuttle....
The Hilton Garden Inn Denver Airport, 16475 E 40th Cir, Aurora, CO 80011, does have a regular shuttle (20 minutes). This airport is located behind the Hyatt Place Denver, so you could take that one and just walk...

DO NOT STAY HERE!!
I booked and paid for my reservation online two days before my arrival in Denver. I arrived in Denver on 08/08/2023 after a long, delayed flight. Since it was already after midnight, and had to take an UBER ($22.80) to this hotel as the shuttle ends at midnight and this was main the reason I chose this hotel for the shuttle service.
At check-in, I accidentally called the female a sir and she made it clear it very clear that she is the proper pronoun which upset her. I understand as a gay man, but it was solely by accident after a long day of traveling.
After that, I gave her my ID and credit card to check in giving her a heads-up about the credit card I was using. Then I had to stand there and listen to her lecture me on the policy and procedures of this hotel, GOD FORBID YOU INTERRUPT HER as she stated numerous times, “You need to let me finish”, I just wanted to know if I was going to be able to stay there. After listening to her for 15 minutes, she refused to check me in as the credit card used was not in my name, though I had signing rights she could have called to verify that information per the credit card company but refused to do so, and because I keep interrupting her made her upset. I gave her a heads-up about the credit card, not a surprise, didn’t try sneaking past her but followed the recommendation from the credit card company on how this should happen. Who talks to customers like that and left me at 1 am without a hotel room due to a credit card for incidentals as the room was all ready paid for, now having to look hotel for myself in a city I have never been to? Even calling the local hotel directly at that time in the morning, you still get overseas call centers. I was in Denver for a job interview the next morning so the stress of not having a hotel room was a lot. I was finally able to find a hotel at 3:45 am with NO issues at all taking the credit card to pay for the room and incidentals, and another $27.57 for an UBER. Then she refused to refund me the amount I paid, due to third-party booking. So at 3:50 am, now I had to call the third-party company to have them obtain a refund and go over everything with them as to why I’m requesting the refund for under $400.00. No one should have to go through this, no one.
I am 59 years old, not a child, nor a teenager, nor a partier, drinker, or smoker, but a professional. So to lecture me and then toss me out to the street I will never stay at a Hyatt Place again if this is how they treat their customers no consideration at all and lack of customer service and rudeness.
I'm a big karma person.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
If I could I would leave NO stars. Interesting that reading the reviews, The staff at this location is horrible and rude, bad attitude and lack of customer service!!
Update: I see that another customer seemed to have an issue with the same employee. Hey Hyatt, do you think something needs to change with...
