I don’t know why I am writing this review. This restaurant will not exist six months from now. Probably sooner but I’m hedging when I say six months.
The list of things wrong with it is long. So I’ll just describe a few of them. First of all, it was opened in a now shuttered Pizzeria Uno. This is obvious because they have done absolutely nothing to disguise the fact. The dining room is identical down to the tables and chairs. I’m always astonished when a restaurant goes into the bones of an old restaurant and doesn’t do anything to try to make themselves look different. It’s like “Hey! The old restaurant didn’t make it! Maybe try something different!”
Second, their staff is, while not unfriendly, indifferent. The hostess/server who took care of me, spent most of her time sitting on a stool at the bar watching television. I don’t blame her. They weren’t busy and I would be bored if I was in her shoes. It just struck me as peculiar having worked in the service industry. “If you have time to lean, you have time to clean” has been replaced with “do whatever you feel like because this place is doomed anyway.”
The food. I’ll start off with the best thing I can say. I had the biscuits and gravy and the biscuits were actually good and the gravy was actually good. But the ratio of gravy to biscuits was really terrible. I had thought to ask for more gravy, but by this point in my meal, I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Also, when the server took my order, she didn’t ask for my preference for eggs so I had to stop her and say “hey, I would like my eggs fried hard.” But alas, they were not fried hard. They were fried medium, and even a little soft in places.
At the end of the day, if you’re a breakfast restaurant and you can’t get eggs correct then you really should not be in business. It’s like a steakhouse that doesn’t know how to cook a medium rare steak. You’re just not gonna make it.
$20 says this place is out of business by the end of this year‘s...
Read moreThe food was great and Our waitress was great. She went above and beyond and did what she could to help us. The service outside of our waitress was subpar at best. My husband and I watched as 4 servers went into the bathroom during their shift and stayed in there for over 15 minutes. They all came out laughing and giggling while all the rest of their servers were busting their ass and helping the customers in their own section as well as the sections of the missing girls. One server broke a glass and was too busy chatting and sitting in the bathroom with her friends for 15 minutes to even bother to clean it up properly. We watched her "attempt" to clean it up twice before a family with Littles came and sat in the section with broken glass and we let them know the glass had not been picked up as we could still see glass everywhere. Finally, a more competent server came and did the job. When our waitress was tied up with a difficult customer and a failing Point of Sale system. Management refused to help. It was a busy day and my husband and I were trying to pay with a system that wasn't reading our cards. Our waitress went to get a manager to see if he could help in anyway and I watched as he WALKED AWAY from her whilst she was asking him a question. It was extremely rude and I couldn't believe that she had to put up with a busy day with little to no help from other servers or management
If you value service at all, do not come here. Our poor waitress deserves to work at a better place. Management obviously didn't care about her or...
Read moreThe Boozy Biscuit and The Urban Sombrero share the same building, and although we eat at The Urban Sombrero once a month because we love it, this was our first time eating at The Boozy Biscuit. It surpassed our expectations! Four of us shared the stuffed French toast, as an "appetizer" and it whetted our whistle for more! The French toast was light and fluffy with a hint of citrus and we could have licked the platter clean. I ordered the Southwest Skillet which was loaded with delicious home-style potatoes, chorizo, jalapenos, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and cheese, and topped with two eggs. It came in a sizzling skillet ensuring the food stayed hot for a long time. The portion was huge and I was only able to eat half of it, but I've saved the rest for breakfast tomorrow. I'd highly recommend it! My husband ordered the Sweet and Spicy Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit, and he raved about how flavorful it was. Not too spicy, not too sweet with a spicy raspberry jam and pimento cheese sauce on it. The portion was huge, and he wasn't able to finish it either, so I won't have to cook for another week. The menu at The Boozy Biscuit is as big as their portions and we're going to have fun working our way through each of the entrees from shrimp and grits to chicken and waffles. There's something for everyone. They have a full line of adult beverages, too, from Bloody Marys to a Boozy Mimosa with a shot of Grey Goose. The coffee is top-notch, too. All-in-all, this is a great place for brunch....
