First the good. I should establish that my family traveled constantly in my youth (I’m 30 now) so my barometer for what a good hotel should be is very well-rounded. Hotel staff is VERY nice. Generally very accommodating and quick to answer the phones. Weird that 3 buttons on the phone all call the front desk, though. And now let’s talk about the bad. The main issue is the location and fees. $15 a day for parking (even though I never used it), $50 a day for the security deposit, NO kitchen or freezer or basic utensils, which is by design since the trend of nickel-and-dime charges don’t end here. No ceiling fan, no bathroom fan. Air conditioning goes down to 60 degrees but it only felt like 80 at the lowest. Bathroom has no fan (and is, in fact, painted shut) because they don’t want stoners getting high so they punish sober people. No laundromat, so I had to go to a public one 8 minutes away and bring a bunch of quarters. Keep in mind I paid $150 a night for my week-long stay and these are the amenities I get. A tiny mini fridge with no freezer and no kitchen means eating cheap is an impossibility. The restaurant in the lobby is nice but every entree is around $15. Every meal for my partner and I ended up being around $40+, not including tip. Housekeeping is hit-or-miss. The maids themselves are lovely, but the late-night staff is somewhat lazy. I got a cold and I asked if they could deliver me some Advil, and they just said no because no one on-staff was around to deliver it. They’d rather I touch every door handle and elevator button instead of send someone on a 2-minute errand to help me in my quarantine endeavor. One lady delivered my towels one night and INSISTED I open the door and take them. I was sick and in my underwear but she REALLY didn’t want to simply leave it in front of the door. When I left my room as housekeeping got there, I came back with my partner and the sheets were untouched. I called the front desk and they said they only do a “full clean” once a week. Bull. Hilton is the only hotel on the planet that takes these kinds of shortcuts: the receptionist confirmed this. They cited COVID for their reasoning but I wasn’t buying it. Also the moment I walked into my room I witnessed a cockroach crawl into a crack in the wall. Lovely. Simply put, absolutely unacceptable for the price of admission and lack of amenities. I will be avoiding Hilton in the future unless I’m compensated for my horrendous experience.

I had an absolutely horrifying experience at this DoubleTree Hotel and would never recommend it to anyone. Upon waking up, I discovered blood stains on the comforter—an appalling and unacceptable situation. When I brought this to management’s attention, instead of showing concern or urgency, I was met with dismissive and condescending responses. The front desk lady, Summer, was unhelpful with providing me contact information for corporate - I had to take it upon myself to find the information online. The hotel manager, James Prendeville, repeatedly used phrases like, “I’ve been in the industry for over 30 years” and “I know what a stain looks like, and it definitely was not blood,” essentially gaslighting me into believing I was mistaken. He even tried to claim they were coffee stains - as if any stain at all on bedding is acceptable. Regardless, the fact remains: there were stains on the comforter, and that is inexcusable. To make matters worse, the customer service was atrocious. I had to jump through several hoops just to get a response about a refund, which I was informed was up to the hotel manager’s discretion. Neither James nor Jackie, the front desk manager, seemed remotely concerned about the issue or how to ensure this doesn’t happen to future guests. The so-called “triple sheet process” James described only made me more skeptical about the hotel's questionable sanitation practices. If that wasn’t bad enough, I also found a dirty sock under the bench in my room—further proof that cleanliness is clearly not a priority here. Bottom line: This hotel is a disaster. The lack of cleanliness, the dismissive and unprofessional management, and the frustrating customer service make this one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had. Save yourself the headache and stay anywhere but here!

The location of the hotel is very convenient being right off the freeway, and there are a few restaurants near. I arrived at this hotel with my husband for a company function. Our room was clean, outdated extremely warm. The air doesn’t flow very well. Our refrigerator was broke maintenance did act quickly to come and correct these issues.. at the function while eating, the bus boy insisted on taking my drink before I finished it, and taking my silverware that I was not using, which I felt was very rude being that I was still sitting there eating and drinking when I told him I was still using my silverware and still drinking out of my glass. He was upset as if he couldn’t finish or complete his work. I felt it was very rude because I was still sitting eating and drinking. Then when I got up to go get dessert, he decided to clean my area as if I was not even coming back. I asked him politely to leave my things there again. He got frustrated with me. My husband stepped in, and the bus boy got an attitude with my husband, which I thought was unprofessional. my husband, and I proceeded to get our dessert come back and sit down and before we knew it a manager named Johnnie came to speak to my husband. I interjected because the situation happened to me. Johnnie put his hand in my face and told me to be quiet and not to talk because he’s speaking to my husband and that I don’t need to say anything. He even threatened to have the police escort us out because it was said that the busboy felt intimidated because I told him not to take my drink and silverware. This was extremely embarrassing extremely disrespectful extremely unprofessional. I proceeded to speak again, and Johnnie did the same thing. He was not understanding at all was not trying to hear me at all which I believe he was racist because I’m a black woman my husband is a white man and out of about 200-300 people there were only less than one handful of Black people in the entire event. I felt Johnnie saw this and use that to his advantage and just thought that he could talk to me as a black woman any kind of way I thought he would have apologized before the night was over but instead his apology was getting my husband another drink. There was nothing said to me nothing at all I will never go back to that hotel ever again. I’m a corporate travel agent and I will never recommend that hotel to any of my clients as of right now I feel Johnnie is extremely Racist and I wouldn’t feel safe around him even with 1000 people in the area. Worst...

So I was here for the Say What! Tobacco-Free Conference with students. When we arrived we at 12:30pm we unpacked the van and proceeded inside. I asked the young lady at the front desk if we would be able to check in since we arrived early. She went to ask her manager and we were told because there are several large groups coming we had to wait. I'm thinking it would help to process them and check them in if rooms are available to avoid the rush, but I didn't choose hotel management as a major so I digress. We decided okay let's wait until 3pm as we were instructed. After we check-in with the conference staff, they gave me room assignments and told me to take it to the front desk so we can check in. This is around 2:15pm. I go to hotel desk because Im thinking rooms are obviously ready. Im just following instructions. Stale face ( no smiles or happy to be at work) says to me "did someone call you?", I said "no she (other lady next to you) told me come back at 3pm." She said "oh no ma'am someone will call you." I said, "How will someone call me?, you don't have my number." She then says "oh, what's your number?"......By this point Im over this hotel for real. (Went to the desk 3 times following instructions). Finally 4pm comes and there are 2 fellas at the front. They are clearly prepared and glad to be at work. We get our room keys go upstairs to find out we have 5 room keys but its only to 2 rooms for a total of 10 ppl. I tell the kids just split up in the rooms I will be back. Go back downstairs and the gentleman tell me "we are working on getting the other 2 rooms prepared." Ok no problem. To sum it up we finally got the rooms straight about 5:30pm. I've never had this many issues with Hilton and I'm a Hilton Honors Member. I was totally shocked. I am not sure if I would go to this one again. Pros: On-Site restaurant, pool and fitness center on 2nd floor, conference rooms great service (housekeeping). Cons: With employment rates high as they are if you don't want to work or you're not a peope person maybe choose a job where you don't have to interact as much. Be prepared for conference crowds. Think ahead...
