We have patronized this restaurant twice in the past two weeks. The first visit was at 7pm on Saturday 6/14, and it was a nightmare to find parking. We found a spot and was only late for our reservation by a few minutes.

We were seated at a table by the kitchen, which actually worked in our favor. The service was as the best I have experienced in my life. Refills of everything happened frequently and before we could ask. The food was cooked well, and the portions were huge. Getting an appetizer, house salad and a main dish left us stuffed. The desserts looked wonderful, but there was no way we could eat more. We left a 25% tip, sadly learning that Pappadeaux uses tip pooling, meaning the server did not get the full tip he deserved. He even gave us full size soft drinks to go at the end. Five stars for this visit.

The second visit was on Tuesday 6/17 at 8pm. Plenty of parking, but the restaurant closes at 9pm. Spoiler, the staff does shut down everything at 9pm and actively push patrons out the door.

The server was very snarky, did not bring any refills until we pounced him, and the biggest problem was that we were seated in a corner booth by the front door, as far as possible from the kitchen. We were basically ignored, regardless of the fact that our reservation stated that our party of three were celebrating.

The food was overcooked and barely edible, and arrived at the table late and luke-warm just before closing. The waiter had a listening problem, screwing up our orders repeatedly He offered no dessert, no take home drinks, and actively started clearing cracker containers and other items from the table as we sat there, as if he thought we would steal them.

Needless to say, I wrote considerable feedback on the bill, including the fact he should have to pay us for the 25 minutes we waited for the bill. This server was the worst waiter I experienced in 42 years of world travel, and he received zero tip on a $243 bill.

I will pursue the manager to discuss the experience, considering the contrast with the first visit. 0 stars for this visit, averaging the two for an overall 3 star rating.

If you visit the restaurant, go early (perhaps 6pm) on a Friday-Sunday event. Service likely will be better, and plan on sending food back to the kitchen fo immediate remake if it is not perfect. This restaurant is too expensive at a rate of $75-100 per person to...

I have been to several locations up north, but never one in the south, so I was excited to be there. Walking in Pappadeaux #03 6319 I-35 N in Austin, Texas on 9/2/2923 we were immediately seated which was great. Our waiter Kenneth M did voices to entertain us when we were seated. A little unorthodox but not really annoying, although he did that all night when he came around. Then after that, it seem to go downhill. It took the waiter forever to come back even with just water which he put on the table and walked away barely answering us regarding he lemons he forgot. It took forever for our orders to be taken, because Kenneth M was preoccupied with the table, next to us. He eventually sent someone to help him yet that took time. Once our food was there, he did come over eventually to ask if the food was satisfying. The food itself was a large portion so I decided to get a to go box because it was so much. While we were talking with each other a roach was crawling on the box. All I can think about was the food I have already consumed, and it made me nauseous. Although the roach was on the outside of the to go box, I could not stop thinking about where it came from? Who handled it and didn’t see it? Was in crawling all in the container? When we called the waiter over, so he could see it because I am not in the position of killing roaches, in restaurants I’m paying to eat at all he does is pick up the container, take it off to the side where we can still see what he’s doing and switches the food over to a white foam container out of the clear top black bottom container. I told him I did not want the food at all anymore. When he dropped the bill that’s when he apologize for taking so long, and that he was just so busy throughout the evening. Needless to say, I cannot get past the fact that there was a roach on my container , near my food and possibly in my food that someone else had to point out. It made me nauseous and it made me think about what else is going on in the kitchen area. I was not satisfied, and I will not be going to another one in Austin Texas of probably anywhere for quite some time, if ever again. Which is sad because I really used to like this restaurant atmosphere and food up north. If I’ll be honest. I expected more from a restaurant of...

Our experience at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the outstanding service provided by Manager Jasmin. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine kindness created a memorable atmosphere that made us feel truly valued.

Jasmin’s personal touch and dedication to customer care made a significant difference in our dining experience. It’s rare to encounter such exemplary management, and her efforts truly helped us create lasting memories during this special occasion. With all the amazing new restaurants, food trucks, and trendy spots available to explore in Austin, it can be easy to pass over the old stand-bys. So, it had been over 11 years since we last ate at Pappadeaux - though it had been a go-to for a reliably great meal. I am happy to report that on our return we found them alive and well, and still serving some of the best Cajun food in Austin in a lively, warm atmosphere with well-trained and hospitable service. We couldn't resist ordering our signature seafood favorites: Redfish Pontchartrain & Blackened Redfish. Both were excellent with generous lump crabmeat and shrimp. We also tried the lighter crispy Atlantic Salmon which included perfectly cooked scallop, shrimp and lump crab on a bed of steamed spinach in a soy/ginger sauce. But the standout was the Spanish Octopus appetizer. My 8-year old son had been wanting to try octopus, and this did not disappoint with a single huge tentacle presented front and center on a plate including silky potato puree and crisp fennel, arugula and blistered tomato salad all in a fresh lemon and olive oil dressing. My son thought it tasted like steak and it was absolutely delicious with a meaty, but not at all rubbery texture. The sauce was so good we mopped it up with the still-perfect french baguettes they serve with individual dishes of whipped butter. As has always been the case, the portions are huge, but we planned on leftovers (dirty rice is fantastic for breakfast!). We were celebrating a birthday, so we also ordered the banana pudding and creme brulee: both excellent; one served with a birthday candle. They comp'd us a dessert and coffee, plus a scoop of ice cream and the manager and waiter both offered sincere birthday wishes. All in all, Pappadeaux is still doing it, and doing it really, really well.

This (at the end of June) is hands down my bestest most favorite meal of 2019! I had the Crispy Atlantic Salmon & Scallop (photo) for $33.95 consisting of Salmon, scallop, shrimp and jumbo lump crab. Let me tell you.....best value ever. The flavors. The presentation. Each bite leading to the next. I started at the top with the shrimp and crab....moved on to the scallop and only then broached the main event. The salmon had a thick glaze on it and to be honest I felt guilty cutting into it. Presentation of the whole meal was top notch! Service? Well, being alone I sat at the bar and Taylor had me taken care of. Super helpful and pleasant I couldn't have done better. I often feel at a bar I'm getting a tender first and waiter as a side duty....NOT with Taylor! She had me taken care of from start to finish. Top notch! Dessert. Well, I never do it. But the meal was so good, well....yeah. Praline Cheesecake for $7.95 and to be honest it looked so good I forgot to take a picture! Delicious! To die for! What else??? Just try it! The atmosphere here is elegant casual if that makes sense. I'm in jeans and a Tee but feel welcome even though I'd also feel fine wearing slacks and a polo. To sum up....best meal of the year for me. Awesome service and great 'vibe'. I'll be back any time I visit Austin!!!!! Well Done!!!!!!

So my wonderful niece took me out to lunch last Saturday, and when we first walked in the black lady at the podium right when you walk in I take it she's the hostess she was not friendly or professional whatsoever. My niece asked about her reservation she pointed to a group of young ladies at the counter where they take you and seat you they were very friendly all smiles and talkative so one led us to a booth seat it was the perfect spot. Then our waiter came and he was very nice and helpful the whole time. The waiter did a perfect job bringing what we ordered to drink and our food and was the food delicious or what. I asked for a to go box so my man could taste the delicious food they had it was just right and for the appetizer before the food came out I got to try alligator 🐊 for the first time. They say everything tastes like chicken it really did it was great too. To go along with the alligator they had shoestring fries and french bread. The only thing I would have asked for them to adjust is to make the French bread a little softer the next time. But great food and an excellent waiter. His name was Scott too like my man name.
