My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this location as we were celebrating his birthday and our christmas together. Although this hotel states it has a pool and hot tub and shows photos with pool and public hot tub, they in fact do not have a public hot tub. It has been cemented over and is unavailable. Luckily for privacy we had chosen a room with in suite hot tub. At first glance walking in the room. Wow. The room smelled fresh and clean. As they should. The bathroom was roomy and there was a roomy walk in shower , which was nice. The bathroom was updated in comparison to our visit to the Wyndham on w 150th in Cleveland. I did notice there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom, the water pressure was very low and the water temp changed throughout all of my showers. Hot warm cool hot... the mini fridge did not have a freezer which was okay because it allowed us to put our dinner left over containers In the fridge. There was a mini kuerig machine for coffee for those who drink coffee. There was a small room w a couch and TV with a table/desk area if needed before you got to the bedroom area. There was a TV in the bed room area and king size bed was comfy and there were plenty of pillows. Off to the left of the bedroom area was the hot tub which also had it's own TV. Surprisingly enough there was only one grab bar on the left side of the hot tub which was right next to the faucet which honestly didn't work out. There should be grab bars on both side of the wall for ease to get and out. The faucet spout was very loose as it looked like people may have grabbed on this to get in and out of the hot tub. We were able to enjoy the hot tub for a couple hrs the first day. However the second day we were not. The hot tub above our room started leaking through the light fixture. We called maintenance and they came up right away. We recorded the leaking. It was first the light fixture and then it also started leaking from the sprinkler fixture. This went on for a couple hrs as the room above us had been using it most of the night. The maintenance worker Kylie said they could have offered to change rooms but couldn't guarantee they had another hot tub room. Check out was in the morning so it would have been inconvenient plus they couldnt guarantee another hot tub room. We paid quite a bit extra for this room because of the hot tub, no one from management addressed the situation and was no offer of any type of reimbursement for the inconvenience. There was no way I was getting back in the hot tub afterthe water was leaking through the light and sprinkler fixtures. This was very disappointing as we were celebrating my boyfriends birthday. I did test out the fitness center as I try to get my 10k minimum steps in daily. I took a trip down and used the recumbent bike for 20 mins to finish out my steps for the evning.. There were a couple treadmills 2 ellipticals a recumbent bike one regular bike and weights and exercise balls. The fitness room stays open all night. I was the only one in there. The ice machines were broke on the floor in which our room was on and also the second floor, there were no signs indicating they were broken either. We had to go to the fourth floor to get ice. So that was a pain. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holiday season with many Christmas trees and ribbons and bows. They had a nice big screen TV and fireplace below it with a couch. They did have a large bar and a dining area. We did not go to either. Since the hotel is located near Avin commons there is no shortage of restaurants or shopping. There are plenty of choices. I do believe my bf will be sending an email to corporate since management did nothing to rectify the situation as I was uncomfortable using the hot tub after the leaking from above. I think this hotel has great potential and would be willing to give it another go the next time my bf is in town. I can only hope the hottub rooms get reevaluated to be sure there won't be further interruptions and inconvenience with any plumbing issues. I included...
Read moreI am very, very disappointed in this hotel after this last visit. I travel for business and pay everything via Expedia in advance. I booked this hotel months in ago because I’ve stayed here before and have had wonderful experiences. The hotel rooms are large, clean, and its in a beautiful location.
Fast forward to today: I check in at approximately 12:15am after traveling 3.5 hours to get here. The lady was frustrated a little, but I blew it off. I assumed it was because I “interrupted her being on her phone”, which I later found was true after what happened next.
I go up to my hotel room in the 4th floor and hop into bed, extremely exhausted. As I’m drifting off to sleep, I get a phone call from her telling me my “card for incidentals actually didn’t go through and I needed to come back down”. I come back down and swipe it again. It says approved on the card machine and I get an alert in my phone that a transaction went through. She then tells me it didn’t go through and to try a different card. I try another card and it also says approved on the machine and I got another alert on my phone that my second card was charged. She told me it also didn’t go through and it “doesn’t matter what the machine says or what my phone says because it declined them on her computer”. She then told me there was an “alert on my account to not let me stay unless I paid”… I found that to be extremely offensive since I have stayed before and always pay in advance and never have had any issues with payment on anything. She said, “believe me.. I was watching videos on my phone and was interrupted. I want this to go through too, but it isn’t. You were my last check in of the night, and I already had to wait on you… What I should tell you is that you need to go upstairs and get your stuff and leave bc my computer isn’t letting your cards go through so you haven’t paid.” I said, “will it make you feel better seeing my receipt on Expedia saying it is paid for?” and she told me she “didn’t care” and declined to look at my receipt. Another person came to check in and she asked me to move over so she could check him in. I didn’t mind, the guy behind me was very kind and seemed concerned as to why I was being treated so poorly. After checking him in, she then turns to me and says “Nevermind, I just hit cash and it worked, you can go back to your room now”.
I’m very confused as to what just happened. Also, I’ve never felt as insulted as I have tonight and I don’t think I will ever return...
Read moreOverall, I think this is a very nice hotel, and I was impressed by both my room and the friendliness of the staff. Upon check-in, my wife and I were greeted warmly and treated well upon check-in, and the same occurred any time we interacted with staff. That's always tantamount to a good hotel stay, regardless of how "fancy" the property is.
The room we were booked in was on a corner on the 4th floor, so we had a glassed out view for basically 20% of the room, which was fun. The room itself was very large (impressive for the price I booked it for on Priceline), and the design was modern, and the entirety looked well kept.
Having a nearly empty toilet paper roll in the otherwise nice and large bathroom was a bit off (though there was one extra roll nearby), but bonus points for a large and intriguing walk in shower. It was also a little weird to have such a modern room without USB chargers or either TV having smart connectivity, but the amenities were nice otherwise. The bed was very comfortable, though I wish the pillows were a touch less deflated for what is considered a high star hotel, but again, that's a small gripe.
The surrounding area was very convenient, with a very popular Mitchell's Ice Cream and two busy restaurants within walking distance, and a large shopping center just behind the hotel. This would be a good hotel to stay at for an extended period of time because of this, as is the location that feels away from hustle and bustle, but is minutes from the highway and around 20 minutes from Cleveland proper.
The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because of what was advertised that gave the hotel its star rating compared to what was actually offered during my stay. Initially, a hot tub was boasted with the pool and gym, but it is no longer in service. And there was a very nice looking and well stocked bar right past the check in area, but it was closed for the two days we stayed for whatever reason, and there was no mention as to why on our end. Minor things that didn't hurt our stay, but I feel like some guests may feel a bit of bait and switch with amenities that help establish the star rating, so it needs to be said. But overall, this is a very nice and well kept hotel that is certainly worth the stay if you're...
