First time here at the Avon location---a slight break from shopping at a nearby plaza. This cafe/diner is not your typical. It's definitely a cut above the rest. From the location, to the interior decor, to the rich and tantalizing menu, it is certainly worth coming back to. All ingredients and meats are local and everything made from scratch, from light to decadent, vegan to carnivore options, it literally has it all in such a concise menu. Price is more expensive than your usual cafr/diner type...BUT the food experience and ambiance is deserving of the price! Parking was a little tricky, in that you had to come out of the plaza in order to get to another mini plaza adjacent to it; parking was plenty but very tight. Reserved via Google and seated within the time given (awesome), greeted by the hostess, and received by a very top notch waitress, Juliet. Kudos! She was very knowledgeable and gave me options as a first time visitor. Attentive and always with a smile. She knew when I needed another refill for coffee (thank you)...AND THE COFFEE--- cinnamon/coconut as the standard. That is rather high! I see what you did there; Smooth move... I ordered the Short Rib Hash on a skillet--- miso mustard , red onions, brussel sprouts, on a bed of potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, 2 cracked eggs on top, buttered lightly- toasted french bagette, and spicy aoli...wow! Filling and big portioned. I just wish it came with more bread to soak in all that oil/butter goodness! Nonetheless, the plate was clean when I was through. Very delicious. 5++ stars all the way.

I’ve been to this reimagined Heck’s Cafe several times after moving back to the Cleveland area 5 years ago. Heck’s was once the jewel of John Searles career and Rocky River. It was fun to work there for a summer with its eclectic staffing and boutique upscale design. Today the menu looks to be constant and without change - no more risk taking. The food is good quality, but not as crisply produced decades ago. The interior is very middle of the road and the furniture shows wear and tear. And, the new patio appears to have no thoughts with wear and tear at post hurricane levels. The biggest detail missing, that keeps me from ever feeling special eating here is just that - details. There is no longer anyone paying attention to details. Track light is randomly aimed at absolutely nothing, giving the bar and main room more of a Friday night football stadium feel than dimmed for dinner overhead. The patio table kerosene lights might help create a warmth and intimacy ambiance - but you need to light them. And, the tiniest detail gone, are the single fresh flower in a bud vase on each table. I know they don’t cost much at Heinen’s. A tulip, a rose, something unique. Heck’s is no longer unique. One word of advice, find the rheostat and dim those lights. The artwork is Kmart at its best, but to each their own.

Even more recent visit Dec 23 They had a gluten-free bun, and it was amazing! I can't wait to go back. Literally. 2017 We stopped here for a burger and weren't disappointed. My husband ordered a brieberry burger, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had an avon burger, but it was just ok. The fries were great. Dessert wasn't spectacular, but it tasted good. visit Oct 2022 I ordered potstickers. You get 5 for $13, and they were just okay. Also, when I got there, I had to use the restroom. As soon as I got to the door, I noticed the office door was open, and there was a good amount of cash on the desk. No employee around. I walked back to the front and waited for someone and walked them back, and showed them. This person said, "I'm aware." "I just walked away for a minute." 🥴😳 Wow. I was astonished at the complete lack of concern. If I were a bad person, I could have just grabbed it and went about my day. If I were that person's boss, I would have written them up immediately.

That was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I would give it 0 stars if I could but since I had to I’ll give one for the atmosphere, but that was the only good part. Not only did we wait for an hour to get our food they tried to give us the bill at full price! We ordered our food at 12:46 and our food didn’t come till 1:50! We were able to watch a family get their food, dessert, bill and leave before we got our food and a whole other family walk in, get seated, order their food and get it before we got ours too! Who knows how long it would have taken if we didn’t say something! They said that somebody took our food and gave it to another table and they had to make another. It doesn’t take that long to cook! We order to avocado toasts, grilled chicken and a hamburger. That stuff only takes like 20 minutes to cook at home and it would probably be ten times better! Our food was cool the eggs wore so bland and horrible and they offered to reheat but nobody wants hot avocado and we were hungry! We could have gone to two restaurants in the time it took them! I would honestly rather eat at McDonalds and I’m not a fast food person. Then at the end they were gonna give us our bill full price and then they took 20% off a normal tip is 10% so we would have gotten only 10% off our bill that’s crazy! So we didn’t leave a tip and they didn’t deserve one! Also the manager and our waiter were total bubble heads and like deer in head lights, they had no idea what was going on! And when something like that happens it’s common knowledge to fix what happened! Horrible first experience, would not come back, unsatisfied and definitely...

One of those restaurants that is 100% worth every single cent spent. The food is phenomenal, the staff is great, and the atmosphere is perfect. I wish every restaurant would buy these chairs for their tables. Every bit of food was delicious. Nothing was meh. The French onion soup is one of the best I've ever had and my flatbread was loaded with delicious balanced toppings. My husband's burger was so good too, and my son's steak frites(kids menu). Let's talk about the kids menu. It is so so nice to see a thoughtful kids menu. We get so sick of kids options at places all being the same, low quality, overpriced, dump from a bag items. This kids menu is well rounded and still well thought out for kids taste buds. Our son was very happy. He loved his little steak and fries. We also very much appreciated that the steak was handled just as well as it would've been if it was being served to an adult. Seriously, you guys rock. Last... the freeken flourless chocolate torte. So, so good. Like chocolate butter. I am so finicky with desserts and am often disappointed with the low quality they usually are. This was delicious. As an aside, shout out to the staff. They were understaffed and busy, especially in the bar, so our drinks took a very long time. Mine didn't come until after I recieved my food. Our server immediately apologized and offered us a free dessert to make up for it. We didn't even say anything. 100% recommend this place for anytime. Date night, family dinner,...
