Mezquite Mexican Kitchen and Bar — Restaurant in Avon

One of the worst Mexican places around. Total scam on the "extra tequila Golden finish" for the margaritas, they brought our glasses out n no extra tequila, when asked about they said it was already mixed in. Scam. Also they up charged us on the margarita and the extra cost for a flavor in the margaritas. The waiter could not explain why. We showed him the menu to show him that there was no indication of a dollar charge. He looked at it and said that he would go ask the manager. Apparently, on the menu in a much smaller tiny font and in realy light blue color, it doesn't have $ just says + 1 and lists the flavors. The place still looks like IHop with a bunch of colored disposable placemats (literally) hanging from the ceiling Prices are really high and portions very small compared to a way better Mexican place called Fiesta Jalapeños in North Ridgeville that has better portions witb side included for a lower price.

Also, my wife's food came out several minutes after the 3 of us got her food AND it was prepared wrong. Asked for black beans instead of fried beans and got no beans at all on her burrito. While they offered to fix it, we never send food back in feR of retaliation, so that...

The service here was amazing. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night, and less than a minute after being seated chips and salsa were brought to us, followed by water. Our waiter wasn't far behind to take our drink order.

I had the steak fajita quesadilla which was mouth watering good. I loved it and couldn't ask for anything better. My girlfriend, however, ordered a taco salad that was utterly disgusting. It had the consistency of baby food. It was like they used the shredded lettuce for tacos for their salad and it neither looked nor tasted good. The dish was nauseating (I tried a bite) and she couldn't even finish it, it was that bad. It's a shame, because the atmosphere price and location are great. We would go back if it were not for that poor excuse of a meal...

Not your typical Mexican restaurant. No brightly colored anything. This may be because the building was previously an IHOP and not redecorated.

While all this may sound like criticism, it really is just the opposite. We found the atmosphere to be more relaxed allowing you to focus on your dinner partner and your meal.

Intentional or not... It works for us.

Service was excellent. Unrushed. We had drinks which were generous yet reasonably priced. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty.

Our questions about menu items were carefully explained making selecting new things for the meal a pleasure.

The food was also excellent. It was hot, nicely presented and portions were generous.
