Our recent visit to this restaurant was an utter disappointment. I would give it zero stars if I could. Specific incidents where the restaurant fell short are:
-- When we were served our drinks, the server placed a drink on my side plate (yes on the ceramic itself). I do not expect a drink to be placed on a plate I'm going to eat off, as I don't know what was in contact with the bottom of the glass. -- Our server was scarcely around. Another server needed to bring us more salsa and chips (which lets you know that we were waiting for a long while for our food to arrive). Our server was also not there to refill our water. I had a difficult time finding him to flag him down for anything. -- The pen I was given to sign my bill was broken -- not cracked but broken (there were pieces of the plastic casing that were missing). Where I would hold the pen, a sharp piece of plastic would have poked my hand. I do not expect fancy pens, but I do expect those that are provided to sign bills are in good working condition that will not cause injury if reasonably used -- not the case here. -- A charge listed as "non-cash charge" was added to my bill. I wanted the server to explain the additional charge, but he was no where to be seen. In the end I just paid and left as we had been there for so long.
I usually don't post a negative review if the establishment does take measures to correct the issue. I wanted to email the restaurant, but their website did not provide an email address. I found an email address in response to customer reviews here, and reached out to customer relations outlining my issues. It is one thing to get poor service, but quite another when communications with the restaurant customer relations are just as indifferent. Below is the response I got:
"Good Evening Sr. I appreciate your taking the time to leave us a review on private directly instead of online. Your feed back is the best tool we have to improve and I personally appreciate it. I read you whole email and I will be working personally today with the GM for this location to solve every item you mentioned. I don’t want to make excuses for your bad service only do my best to fix it. We had to hire new people at that location and it was probably our lack of training what lead to this result. Please come back in the future to see that we take everything to hearth and try to fix it. Thank you"
Usually when a restaurant admits to falling short of their standards, they try to make amends by either providing discounts on future visits or reimbursing a portion of the bill. Neither of that happened here (and seems unlikely that it will since it has been a few days). I can only conclude that they REALLY don't care. I'm glad there are other restaurants in Beachwood as I will not be visiting...
Read moreThis is my 3rd or 4th time to Tres Potrillos before reviewing. Every trip food is just missing something, a little bland. I have ordered steak fajitas & carne asada.
On the positive I really love the atmosphere & the staff. You are guaranteed to have at least one person who doesn’t speak English, thats a ++ for me in a Mexican joint.
House margarita is good despite not being on the menu.
The portion is super generous. However I believe they give such a generous portion because they use cheap roast quality cuts with meat tenderizer. I would happily pay the same price for a smaller portion but have angus inside skirt steak instead of… whatever they make the fajitas out of. The meat is pre sliced into thin strips & you can taste the sweet chemical tenderizer. It’s just not fatty or juicy. Very dry fajita steak. On the positive they use red bell peppers. There was 100 strips of bell pepper but like 10 slivers of onion.
Side plate had generous portion of rice, beans, guac, etc.
My biggest disappointment is salsa. They have one and only one red salsa that is obviously out of a can tomatoes and very little spices. Very bland. No hot option. If you ask for verde they bring you a very sugary enchilada sauce.
Friendly staff & convenient location to my hotel bring me back. I realize the owner wont change food quality based on a review but hopefully this will set expectations for customers.
I will return to Tres Potrillos for...
Read moreI’m going to try to be nice, but I can’t guarantee that’s gonna happen. I’ve tried this restaurant several times, and I’ve been underwhelmed by the food each time. I ordered a fajita with chicken pineapples and shrimp (I think it’s called the Hawaiian fajita.) It came with refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream, and lettuce . I don’t understand how you can make refried beans that are bland. So was the chicken and shrimp in my fajitas. The saving grace was the sour cream, lettuce and pineapple with fajitas vegetables. I’m so disappointed I wasted $25 on this meal. I really really tried to give it a second chance and hoping that maybe the first time I went there was a fluke. Refried beans that are bland? Chicken and shrimp in your fajita that has no taste and looks like it only was seasoned with pepper? I knew I should’ve ordered from my favorite restaurant - Comprades. I’m upset that I wasted my hard earned money during this recession. I knew I should’ve ordered from my favorite restaurant- Northfield’s Comprades. We are in a recession, money does not come cheap. I tried to give them a pass because it was 8 PM when I ordered my food but No!! It’s still really bad, If you want good Mexican food go to compadres in Northfield Ohio. Food is seasoned well!!
Sorry but not...
