We had dinner here tonight during one of our last evenings in Cleveland before heading back home. Since I’m in town for surgery and still wasn’t feeling 100% up to dining in, we opted for takeout. When we arrived to pick up our food, the restaurant had a great atmosphere and welcoming vibes. The staff was friendly and pleasant to interact with, and their extensive menu offered plenty of tempting options. I ordered the Melting Chimichanga with cilantro rice, and it was absolutely delicious. The queso drizzled on top was the perfect touch, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. My mom chose the “Pick Two” combo with a chicken burrito and ground beef enchiladas — she found both dishes flavorful and loved her meal. My step-dad went with the Chori Pollo, which he also really enjoyed. He mentioned that it would have been even better with an extra helping of queso. The chips and salsa included with our order were excellent as well — fresh and full of flavor. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would definitely visit again next time we’re in Cleveland. Thank you for a great meal!

This was our second stop at this restaurant the last few years - we stopped on a whim a couple of years ago, and wanted to return every since. The bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer is amazing (no..really...you MUST try it!). They have a large selection of "street tacos", which my daughter loved. I got a carnitas plate, with roasted pork, beans, rice, guac, salad w jalepenos, and pita. I was disappointed in the flavor - there just wasn't a lot of flavor to the food. The pork was tender and well roasted, but lacked any real flavor. The beans and rice were pretty good, but again, not that flavorful. I hope it was just an off day, since our first visit was positive. If you go, definitely try the bacon wrapped shrimp. they are cooked to perfection so that they POP when you bit into them. the bacon is super smokey, and paired with orange slices everything just SINGS.

This is my 3rd or 4th time to Tres Potrillos before reviewing. Every trip food is just missing something, a little bland. I have ordered steak fajitas & carne asada. On the positive I really love the atmosphere & the staff. You are guaranteed to have at least one person who doesn’t speak English, thats a ++ for me in a Mexican joint. House margarita is good despite not being on the menu. The portion is super generous. However I believe they give such a generous portion because they use cheap roast quality cuts with meat tenderizer. I would happily pay the same price for a smaller portion but have angus inside skirt steak instead of… whatever they make the fajitas out of. The meat is pre sliced into thin strips & you can taste the sweet chemical tenderizer. It’s just not fatty or juicy. Very dry fajita steak. On the positive they use red bell peppers. There was 100 strips of bell pepper but like 10 slivers of onion. Side plate had generous portion of rice, beans, guac, etc. My biggest disappointment is salsa. They have one and only one red salsa that is obviously out of a can tomatoes and very little spices. Very bland. No hot option. If you ask for verde they bring you a very sugary enchilada sauce. Friendly staff & convenient location to my hotel bring me back. I realize the owner wont change food quality based on a review but hopefully this will set expectations for customers. I will return to Tres Potrillos for convenience.

I’m going to try to be nice, but I can’t guarantee that’s gonna happen. I’ve tried this restaurant several times, and I’ve been underwhelmed by the food each time. I ordered a fajita with chicken pineapples and shrimp (I think it’s called the Hawaiian fajita.) It came with refried beans, Mexican rice, sour cream, and lettuce . I don’t understand how you can make refried beans that are bland. So was the chicken and shrimp in my fajitas. The saving grace was the sour cream, lettuce and pineapple with fajitas vegetables. I’m so disappointed I wasted $25 on this meal. I really really tried to give it a second chance and hoping that maybe the first time I went there was a fluke. Refried beans that are bland? Chicken and shrimp in your fajita that has no taste and looks like it only was seasoned with pepper? I knew I should’ve ordered from my favorite restaurant - Comprades. I’m upset that I wasted my hard earned money during this recession. I knew I should’ve ordered from my favorite restaurant- Northfield’s Comprades. We are in a recession, money does not come cheap. I tried to give them a pass because it was 8 PM when I ordered my food but No!! It’s still really bad, If you want good Mexican food go to compadres in Northfield Ohio. Food is seasoned well!! Sorry but not sorry. #Ireallytried

The people at the front were welcoming and the place is beautiful. I was with a friend for her birthday dinner. The margaritas were pretty good. We both ordered Fajitas Texanas and queso sauce for the tortilla chips. The first issue is that the fajitas didn't come out sizzling which is kind of the point of getting fajitas, especially on your birthday. We were very puzzled by that. Despite that, the plates were beautiful, but there were issues. The flavor was fine, but the steak and chicken were extremely overcooked, very dense. The shrimp were cooked fine. With the toppings they only offer a tiny bit of sour cream that is drizzled over the lettuce. While aesthetically pleasing, it just wasn't practical when building with the tortillas. We asked for more and they brought it. I didn't finish my meal and I didn't take it to go, it just didn't hit the spot for me. Oh and we never got the queso sauce. I think the server may have forgotten. Unfortunately we are unlikely to return.

HITS. THE. SPOT. Hands down the best authentic Mexican restaurant in Cleveland. My husband and I do date nights at Tres about 3-5 times a month since it never disappoints. They have quite a few sister restaurants in CLE that we've tried, but the beachwood location has a full food and drink menu that we prefer. We're immediately given fresh chips and salsa within the first 2 minutes of being seated, our drinks come within 5 minutes of being ordered, and the food comes extremely quick, it's piping hot, well portioned, extremely flavourful and just excellent EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I can say that between my husband and I, we've tried about every gourmet taco, fajita plate, margarita, and beer they have on menu; you cannot go wrong with your choice(s). The staff, food, drinks, & music are A++ :)
