**BEWARE of your items||We came to Comfort Inn Birch Run for a quick Family vacation to visit Frankenmuth. What started out as a pleasant vacation turned into absolute disgust. Our 2 son's were playing their video game consoles while waiting for us to check-in at the front desk. There was only another older couple in the lobby and the front desk lady (P.M). By 3:20pm the room was still not ready, so we decided to go out for dinner. As we were returning we asked our son where his game console was and he said he must have left it on the couch in the lobby. We asked (P.M) if anyone has seen it. She snarkly answered "no one turned it in". My son is 8 and was distraught in tears as this was his gift from Santa. We scoured the lobby looking. Our son even asked (P.M) if the cameras worked and she said they don't work only the one above front desk. So this place has a POOL and NO CAMERAS, hallway to staff area has NO CAMERAS, Weight room NO CAMERAS, Door entryways have NO CAMERAS...Wow this place seems really safe. Her answer to me and my son, "Your husband looks more upset than your son for losing it. You know a child that age shouldn't be given something that valuable unless he's responsible" He's 8...Come on. Get's better....so we all have a horrible sleep with the pillows that are flat, bed's that are hard as a rock. We go downstairs to breakfast...PORK ok some people like it but no other option, Runny water eggs from a carton, Fruit non existent, Fake Maple syrup. (P.M) says to my husband "just to let you know no one has returned the game console" He says no problem were going to the police and they will run the tape behind the desk were going to the station now ...well that's when it got interesting. My father in law walked up to the desk with (P.M) there and 2 other staff members and asked if anyone turned it in. One of the staff said "yes it was turned in yesterday and it was here" as they looked around no console to be found. Magically the game console appeared in her hand after she came from the back. She then blamed it on her Manager that was leaving for a few days as she was in a hurry going to a BBQ saying she probably didn't tell her it was in her office. So wait your the Manager an item of value gets lost and found and you don't disclose it to your Supervisor? What kind of hotel is this???We got it back and she stated many people leave things behind like money, wallets, purses, rings, guns..etc...what???? She said they never log those items just in case...in case you want to sell it? We left and filed a complaint with Comfort Inn. We asked why they don't log in lost/stolen items...BEWARE of your stuff and BEWARE of certain staff. For sure if we didn't ask one last time at the front desk it wouldn't have been given back and sold or given to a staff family member. I will make sure from now on not to go to a hotel like this again. I don't blame Choice Hotels but they should background check employees, Franchisers, have proper policies and procedures. Choice Hotels said they are investigating and looking at the tapes and would get back to us were still waiting for a reply 2...
Read moreMy wife and I have frequented this facility on numerous occasions. We elected to use them after leaving our first hotel to do some shopping before heading for home. We have noticed that the overall experience of this hotel has been declining over time. Well, this last trip sealed it for us. I don't normally take time to leave reviews, but this one I won't neglect. We decided to stay an extra night here and extended our stay. Upon check out, I was heading to the elevator to see if I could get a cart to load our things. As I stood there in the elevator, it seemed to take an extra amount of time for the doors to close. I stood there waiting and trying to get the elevator to operate, and noticed one of the employees watching me to see how this would end. So I stepped out to see what she was trying to say to me because the alarm buzzer was loud and I couldn't hear. She was trying to let me know that she'd keep an eye out if anything happened and then would let the front desk know if it did, because the same issue happened the day before. Unfortunately we were on the third level and couldn't get a cart and the elevator was stuck. After not one trip, not two, but three trips to get all our things to our car, I went in to speak with the manager (who was out and would not be back until the following day, so I was told), no maintenance man was available to assist to any capacity because "he was in Saginaw", one of the attendants was very apologetic but could do nothing but give me a card for the manager to be contacted the following day. Nothing was offered for this unacceptable inconvenience. She said "Don't worry, our manager is really great with resolving these issues and will call you tomorrow". Needless to say, I never did receive said call. My wife had to suffer going down 3 flights of stairs after having surgery on her foot and I made them aware of this. The whole experience was infuriating. If you are anywhere in this area, there are other hotels nearby including one directly across the street. Do yourselves a HUGE favor, do not stay here. Your problems will not be handled with consideration and care. Although they claimed to have contacted the repair company for the elevator problem, I hate to imagine if a senior or anyone else would've gotten stuck on this thing that seems to warrant no real attention or concern. Needless to say, this stay was indeed our last. We will not be back. IF ANYONE FROM THIS COMPANY READS THIS, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO REPLY TO RESOLVE THIS. IT WILL NOT CHANGE...
Read moreThis particular location is under renovation. I was greatly disappointed in the lack of communication about this situation. When we arrived there was no place to pull up to the building as much construction materials were in the way. We were hauling a boat and asked where the best place for us to park. The receptionist was anything but friendly and helpful. As a patron, I expected to be greeted with an apology for the inconvenience of the remodel, but happy to help make our stay comfortable. There was none of that. We were told to go to the second exit sign and we'd find the elevator there. The trip down the entire wing was filled with construction dirt, strong paint smell and was a dim hallway. We assumed we were going in the wrong direction and turned around as we didn't want to interfere with the work that was obviously going on. However, there were no other options so we returned to the hallway and made our way to the second exit sign. That doorway was again dirty and the doors to the outside didn't work. They had to be kicked or shoved with a shoulder to open. When we finally made it to our rooms I was disappointed again that we paid $190.00 per room for sub-par accommodations. The rooms appeared to be freshly painted and carpeted, but there was dry-wall mud on the carpets, finish work was not completed around the closets, no doors on the closets, taped fire alarms and dirty shower curtains in the bathroom. The saving grace was that the beds appeared to be freshly made with clean linens and the bathroom and sink areas were clean. I cannot recommend this particular facility and am disappointed that I was not informed of this before hand and was not given any compensation for the inferior situation. I can't imagine treating customers in this fashion. As a business, you depend upon repeat customers and good reviews. I cannot...
