If you don't do your homework before you come here ("here" being both Bisbee and The Hotel La More) and then cry & complain about ANYTHING (with the possible exception of an electrical malfunction) you are the epitome of a stereotypical "Karen". Bisbee is not L.A. or Chicago or Phoenix and Hotel La More is not a Hilton or a Marriott. They (the town & the hotel) are both on a whole other level. My husband and I stayed at this hotel on a last second trip over Memorial Day weekend 2022. There were a few minor issues during our stay but given the hotel was built the same year Arizona became a state, we were willing to just roll with it. In fact, we enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to plan a return trip this year (2023) for the long 4th of July weekend. Much to our surprise, there was a new owner and, along with her, there were some fantastic upgrades, both to the creature comforts (thank you for the mini splits in the rooms) as well as to the kitchen, common area and decor. We feel like we're characters in a Tombstone-esque movie when we stay at this hotel! It's so much fun!! For those crying about the noise: It is literally located in a section of Downtown Bisbee called BREWERY GULTCH!! What were you expecting...a nice quiet forest cabin getaway?! There are bars and breweries everywhere you turn down there! (And they're kind enough to provide earplugs). For those crying because nobody was at the desk: READ ALL THE INFORMATIONAL EMAILS & TEXTS YOU RECEIVE! They have a LOT of useful information that will probably prevent a lot of your crying & confusion. If you stay at this hotel (which we strongly recommend), you will have an experience like no other. Sure, there are no TVs in the rooms. BUT YOU'RE IN A HOTEL THAT'S A STOP ON THE GHOST TOURS!! Sure, there are no microwaves or mini fridges in the rooms. BUT YOU GET TO GO DOWN TO THE KITCHEN & COMMON AREA & HAVE ACTUAL CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER GUESTS ABOUT THE COOL THINGS YOU'VE EXPERIENCED & HEAR THEIR STORIES & GET IDEAS OF OTHER FUN THINGS TO CHECK OUT!! A stay at this hotel will be like nothing you've ever experienced before. In a good way. A stay at Hotel LA More will send you home with some of the best memories. And I have it on good authority there are more positive changes on the way. My husband & I can't wait to come back...
Read moreThis is a wonderful historic hotel/building in Bisbee with a lot of charm and originality. The doors, knobs, banister and stairs appear to be original to the property, as do a few other things (and if not original at least period specific). It has a warm and inviting atmosphere and Lucy, the Innkeeper is a sweetheart with tons of charm and personality herself! She was thoughtful and put a heater in our room in case we wanted to use it and checked to make sure we were happy with our accommodations and gave plenty of eating referrals. The room was comfortable and clean. I would recommend if you want a quiet night's sleep to sleep on the side of the hotel opposite the bar that is next door. Some guests were staying upstairs on the bar side of the hotel and said it was pretty loud most of the night, however, we were on the opposite side and it was very quiet (note, the bar is not inside of the hotel, it is a seperate building next door).
My only suggestions would be to have something for breakfast. There is a kitchen so you could bring food with you and cook or put dinner leftovers in the refrigerator, but some local baked goods (muffins, pastries, etc) from a local bakery/coffee shop would be nice for breakfast. And there is no TV on the property. None are in the rooms and there isn't one that is for the hotel. So, my other recommendation would be to either outfit the rooms with TVs or at least have a "TV room" in one of the common areas with maybe a DVD player and some DVDs. However, they do have wifi and most of the time it was stable enough that we were able to watch Netflix from our laptop that we brought.
Other than the two things mentioned above, we were VERY happy with our stay here and would highly recommend it and would absolutely stay in the future if we return to Bisbee. Please understand, if you are looking for a full service Mariott type of atmosphere, THIS IS NOT IT! However, if you are looking for a historic hotel, B&B type of atmosphere with historic mining town charm, this is definitely the...
Read moreHotel Lamore at Bisbee Inn: A Hauntingly Unique Experience in Brewery Gulch Nestled in the heart of Bisbee's historic Brewery Gulch, Hotel La More at The Bisbee Inn is a true gem. This 20-room boutique hotel is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience that blends vintage charm, Western grit, samurai swagger, and a touch of the paranormal. It’s a feast for the eyes and a conversation starter. The owner, John-Micheal Thomas, is a film industry veteran who had a vision of combining the Old West and the Far East, and it all began with the colorful Chinese lanterns, which he painstakingly hung from the vaulted ceilings in the tea lounge. Each of the 20 rooms is unique, with its own personality and quirks. Some rooms have private bathrooms, while others share communal facilities. Keep in mind the house was built in 1906, and was once a boarding house for the miners that flocked to Bisbee to make their fortunes. Some of them…never left. Hotel La More is more than just a place to sleep. It's a community hub where guests and locals alike can mingle and share stories in the tea room, which offers parlor games and a communal kitchen. Brewery Gulch is the perfect base camp for exploring Bisbee. Surrounded by restaurants, bars, the best magic show in Arizona and vintage shops, you'll never be short of things to do. The hotel itself is within walking distance of everything. The hotel is said to be haunted, and there are plenty of ghost stories to go around. If you're a paranormal enthusiast, you'll love the spooky atmosphere. Be prepared to embrace the weird and wonderful. If you're not a fan of stairs, request a room on the lower level. Take a walk around Brewery Gulch and explore the shops and restaurants. Visit the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum to learn about the town's rich history. Go see Magic Kenny Bang Bang’s Seance Room Show Have your portrait painted by Doug Weber, who lives on the...
