Rooms very spacious and clean. Good value for the price. Only complaints would be that the bathroom heating light had to be left on and Oven turned on with the door open in addition to the single heater in the room to make the temperature tolerable. Check out was at 11:00 AM, And five minutes before 11 AM I was in the middle of cleaning up so that they didn’t have to but gotta knock at the door before checkout time for us to leave. In addition all three people that worked in the office stood outside and watched as me and my wife were taking our stuff to the car. I eventually had to stop cleaning because it was very weird and awkward. I felt as if they were expecting something bad to happen. I’m not sure if they’ve had to deal with problems like that in the past and that’s not for me to judge, but it doesn’t feel like it makes it OK to make new guests feel uncomfortable by multiple people standing and staring as you’re doing everything and trying to talk to each other knowing that everything is going to be heard. There was only two other cars there so I’m assuming they didn’t have much else to do, but it also tells me that they had plenty of rooms available and no need to rush us out but that is exactly how we felt. That made the lack of heating feel a lot worse. In my honest opinion it could’ve been an amazing experience and one that I would very much be willing to revisit when I’m in town, If it weren’t for the easily fixed and controllable situation of the way we were treated when it was time to leave. It was awkward enough to make me never want to go back. Aside from that point everyone was nice and friendly. I always clean up so that the person who has to clean doesn’t have to do much out of respect, and I’ve never had to be told by my wife to” just leave everything and let them deal with it because they already came by and tried to run us off.” Since that was the last interaction that I had with them, it’s the one that is going to be most memorable. I would suggest to the staff to wait until the time that you’re supposed to check out before knocking on the door and not assuming that someone’s not gonna leave on time because the only reason we weren’t is because we were...
Read moreWent there while visiting family at the end of the year (2021). We had reserved via Bookings.com. A mistake was made and the booking was for 5 days, but we were only going to stay 4 days. After arriving in the middle of the night on the morning of Sunday, December 26 which means that we would be charged for the night of the 25th to the 26th, and that was not a problem. When the employee at the front desk showed up, we told him that we would be checking out on the morning of December 29 so that we would only be there for 4 nights (25th, 26th, 27th, 28th). They charged the card for 5 days (based on what the bookings.com had). When we checked out on the morning of the 29th, we were assured that we would get reimbursed the extra $100 or so dollars that we were overcharged. I asked what they could not put it back on my card. The desk employee (who was hard to understand with a difficult to understand Indian accent) said that he did not have the ability to do so himself but that the owner would do so. We even had Bookings.com correct the reservation retroactively so that the owner of the hotel could be reimbursed whatever fee he had to pay them. However, the owner was out of town but would be back soon, according to the front desk employee. It is now May, 18, 2022 and after literally dozens of phone calls, we still have not received our refund. Worse, my mother-in-law had come with us but had stayed in her own room. She was also charged for an extra day and they promised to also reimburse her. Every time, the excuse is that the owner is away. The last thing (from nearly a month ago) was that they were sending a check (I guess the famous, "The check is in the mail"). So, nearly 5 months after a simple error, they still owe us more than $200! DO NOT STAY THERE! We are still fighting to get our money back and it might be time to get the Better Business Bureau and whoever else...
Read moreWe came into town on Friday evening and couldn't decide where to stay and truthfully none of the motels in the area had great reviews but i also like to save money. I was very concerned about some of the reviews for the Douglas Inn but the receptionist was extremely nice (even stated she was new), I mentioned my concerns about their reviews and asked if it was possible to see a room before staying and she didn't hesitate in saying sure and walked across and showed us one of the rooms and we decided to stay. The room was very clean (wife cleans for a living so she knows clean), It was very cold this evening and the heat worked great in the room and it was a nice comfortable stay. When I went over to get ice in the morning I met the owner and she was very personable and I pretty much stated was i already typed here to her and she told me that should we like to show me one of the suites before we left in case we ever need more room on a trip. When we where finishing packing the car to leave she came across and showed us one of the suites that was very nice, roomy and clean ( Would be great if and when we come back with the grand kids). I was totally impressed with the Douglas Inn and so much so when we didn't end up leaving town on Saturday we ended up returning on Saturday night to stay..... Atmosphere here was so nice it will be the only place we stay when we come back...
