We loved the food! We were starving at 8:45 pm due to a long day that unexpectedly knocked us out of our normal routine, so off we go to find anything open in Blue Ridge that is not for tourists. The first Mexican restaurant was advertised as open until 9:30, but when we got there at 8:50 pm, they were closed! We made our way over to Saber a Pueblo, not really expecting much. We had seen it a few times on our visits to Family Dollar, but didn't know anything about it. What a nice surprise!! We decided to share the "Molcajete." It is like a stew in green sauce that offers a sample of everything! Steak, chicken, shrimp, cactus, cheese, sausage, pork rinds, green chiles, and some other things for sure. I really couldn't believe how delicious it was! The best part is the serve it in a stone bowl that weighs a ton, and it kept the dish hot the entire time it sat in our table! It comes with a side ofvricecand beans and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. We each ordered a house Margarita to complete the Mexican food experience. I would definitely suggest you try this, but be a little careful with the green chiles, since they were a bit spicy. Other than that, the flavors were delicious and mild. We were...
Read moreUpdated four star review to a three after a second try. First time was for lunch, second time for dinner.
Food was very middle of the road and our server was sweet. Ordered choriqueso (never received it, don't know if we were charged for it), fajita nachos, and I got their birria quesadilla. Can't speak for the appetizer that didn't arrive but the entree portions were large for the price point. Two entrees and two non-bar drinks came to $38 and some change before tip.
Atmosphere of the restaurant is a very odd vibe and what made the experience off feeling - windowsills peeling paint, no bulbs or malfunctioning sockets in some light sconces (left from the Village I believe), and an absolutely abysmal and dystopian feeling bathroom. The bathroom issues were not a client caused thing - the toilet seat was worn down through the white coating into what looked like a press board core. It felt like all the money renovating the building was put into the exterior and branded banners. Toilet seats...
Read moreIn a place where there are 6 Mexican restaurants within a mile of each other, Sabora Puebla is definitely unique. Firstly, their chips are light and crisp, and their sweet tea is, of course, perfect. We (two friends and I) each got a different meal. I had their Birria Tacos, one friend had their Don Burrito, and the other friend had a plate of steak and rice with cheese. The burrito was huge, easily the size of two, the steak and rice plate was a good portion as well, and the Birria Tacos were fantastic. Perhaps best of all, the prices were outstanding. I had a draft beer, along with my tea and plate, and my bill was only about $24 (not including a tip, which I was glad to provide for their excellent service and delicious food). If you want something different from the typical Mexican fare (which is also good, don't get me wrong) and you appreciate fair prices, I simply cannot recommend the place highly enough. I'll certainly be going back to try that Don...
