Blue Ridge Bird Seed Company — Attraction in Blue Ridge

My husband and I received some of the worst customer service we have ever before experienced, in this store yesterday. The woman working was at a desk when we walked in. She gave me a brief, angry glance and then ignored the fact that we were there. There was no greeting, not even a smile. My husband said she actually looked around him to speak to another customer, still ignoring him.

Despite the rude behavior, I found some bookmarkers that I wanted to purchase. At first, she seemed hesitant to even ring me up. When she did proceed to take my money, it was still with an air of reticence and dismay and she continued not speaking to me. Now, if I was local, I would have assumed she knew me and held some type of grudge...but we were out of towners! Why this woman would chose to single us out and act this way, is beyond me. She basically tossed both my change and my bag at me and stomped off. My husband and I just looked at each other in disbelief.

I always take the time to leave good reviews when I visit places with exceptional customer service, but service this terrible, needs to be remarked...

Love this store! Whether I just need bird supplies or I need help with an identification or question, the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I'm a local and I've heard time & time again from visitors that this is one of the places they always visit when they come to town. I bring my own containers and buy seed in bulk at a discount. They are always quick to answer when I send birding questions to their Facebook page. Their Saturday morning seminars are very informative; I've attended sessions on black bears, hummingbirds and ducks. I always learn something new. They're a true Blue Ridge...

Nice shop with a very large collection of bird feeders, squirrel deterrents, decorations and so much more. We enjoyed chatting with the friendly woman who was working the day we visited back at the end of March 2025. We ended up purchasing a beautiful puzzle that was made in the USA as well as a small cardinal statue to place next to grandpa’s urn and photo back at home. My grandma loves her little cardinal 🥹🥰 The prices of the actual bird seed was very high, but there are other less expensive items definitely...
