Ace Hardware Blue Ridge — Local services in Murphy

I love our local Ace. This review is specific to the gun department.

For starters, it has by far the largest in-stock selection of pistols, rifles, and accessories of any store in the area. Not only the normal everyday stuff you’d expect - Glocks, M&Ps, Sigs, Rugers, Walthers, AR15s, AR22s, bolt action rifles, so many shotguns, etc - but also some fun stuff you don’t see every day. They’ve got two Steyr Augs, a classic Tommy Gun, a Kriss Vector, a good handful of lever action rifles, a Desert Eagle, and some civilian SMG clones like the MP5. I picked up one such clone from them recently - the PTR 9CT. Awesome little gun.

The guys here I’ve dealt with and talked to are super knowledgeable and friendly… Mike, Bob, and Terry.. They’ll show you any gun you want to see, chat with you about it, and they’re enthusiastic and happy to be helping you. You can tell they’re true gun guys.

Prices vary though. Some guns are priced well and you can find some solid deals. Others, they bought at the height of Covid and the shortages and so they’re way over on those. I had to do some negotiating on the PTR I bought… they had it at 2100, but these go for 1700 all day every day from all reputable shops online and the big box stores. In the end, we arrived at a pretty fair number and I always prefer to support local small business over the big box guys anyway.

First visited this Ace in the spring of 2019. Decent gun section. Actually had a hard to find rifle for sale. However, being married permission was not granted. Being from a different part of Georgia, two hours away, I accepted the fact that the rifle was not for me. Through a series of events we were once again going to Blue Ridge in November of 19. My wife knew that the rifle I had seen in April was one that is usually quickly snapped up. Knowing we were going back I asked her if the rifle was still at the Ace would she let me get it. She said I could. I called and sure enough the gun was still in the store. She was not happy. Blue Ridge Ace held the gun for me. We picked it up. The staff was very nice, as they were in April. Loved the store. The Blue Ridge Ace is loaded with all kinds of stuff and differs from some other locations due to the size and selections available. If ever back in Blue Ridge we will return. Ordered a rifle on Monday and confirmed the make and model. Was assured by 3 different employees on the phone that it was on order and in stock at the warehouse during the week. On Friday went to pick up after being called to find out they had ordered some other model and were trying to charge more than 100 dollars over going price for the gun. Very slick employees! Sent the manager over who claimed to be ignorant of guns or any wrong doing. Would not take ownership and reminded me of scammers on Buford Hwy in Doraville where they are known as Scambodia. They should move this place down there where they will fit in. Will let everyone know what they are like. Do your self a favor and stay clear of this place.
