Dined at this restaurant on 2/13/23. The environment is pleasant and clean, and as an outdoorsman myself, I enjoy the various chest mounts adorning the walls. Service was spotty: our server was prompt in welcoming us once seated and processed our drink orders quickly, however she failed to bring more bread (great homemade bread by the way) when our table requested it, and when she did finally do so, she brought only one, stating "she needed to put some more in the oven". It left me under the impression she'd bring more when it was baked, but she never did.
The interval between taking care of our drinks and taking our actual meal orders was very lengthy, to the point we actually thought our server had forgotten about us. Eventually we flagged her down and the night moved forward. Once ordered, the food came quickly.
Prices were reasonable: I ordered a good-sized Reuben Sandwich and fries, and just drank water. The sandwich was $15, and I think the fries were extra (not sure). My wife ordered the chicken pesto-something, and it was a big portion at $16 and delicious according to her. My Reuben was good, though nothing special.
At check time there was some confusion: three parties on the table, two checks (my wife and I were being treated by one of the parties). Server had swapped one of the entrees from the other party, placing it in the wrong check, but then also had an extra entree on another check. It was by now around 9pm and we were one of the last tables in the place: it was very hard to get a hold of our server to get the bill corrected.
Once home, I felt overly stuffed and nauseous. The feeling did not go away. I also got a headache. Eventually around 11pm I decided to induce myself to vomit: I felt much better (headache was still there, but nausea was gone) and good enough to hit the sack. I woke up the next day with a headache, which is uncommon for me.
Did I get sick from the food/drink ingested at the restaurant, or was I sick with whatever is going around to begin with? Wife did not get sick as I did, and as far as I know, no one else in our table did either. I work in a public high school, a "petri dish" you could say, so the chances of me picking up something at work is high.
One thing I do know: I won't eat the Reuben's...
Read moreThis was our third time going and definitely the last. I will first start off to let you know that our server was amazing, so she has nothing to do with this review, 5 STARS FOR HER:) We ordered filet mignon, mine medium and my husband ordered medium well with onions. When they came we had to swap because his was medium and mine medium well, no big deal. However the filet's were VERY chewy. We go out to eat a lot, and filet mignon is our go to, so we are very familiar with a good filet. I did not finish mine, my husband did because he tolerates tuff/chewy meat better than I. I told our server, just wanting to let her know. She empathized and said she just wanted to let her manager know, that they need to know this info that it is very helpful. The manager came over so we showed her the filets that we had to swap and told her that was fine. I informed her that the meat was very chewy and told her that we eat many filets so I just wanted her to know. She than picked up my knife and fork and began slicing my uneaten filet, (cutting the opposite way you slice, with the grain, not against the grain), and said, "that sliced very easy"!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY, picking up my utensils and than saying that. She asked if I wanted another steak, I declined and reiterated that I just wanted her to know. She did deduct my filet from our bill, which that is not why I was telling her of my dismay, however now I am glad she did. As we left she was standing near the from door with 2 other employees, and normally everywhere we patronize, we always here, "have a nice evening", but none of the 3 said anything. I never write reviews but that manager handled this situation DISGRACEFUL and needs to know that all customers who make a complaint are not doing it for a free meal. This establishment is a bit pricey, so I thought for the price we were paying, I should expect a better cut meat, or at least be treated better by...
Read moreUpdate 6/19/24: My kids are off to camp, we're losing power at home with the heat, so my partner and I took an afternoon to spoil ourselves and have a nice meal. I have always enjoyed the Springfield Grille, but I feel like it has gotten even better since I was here just a few months ago.
We were welcomed warmly and we chose a booth in the bar area. Our server/bartender Donovan (sp?) was great. We were greeted quickly and warmly by him despite his being quite busy. He never seemed rushed or helicopter -y. Plates were cleared timely, drinks refilled promptly, and we never once had to look around for him.
I love iced tea, but I feel like it's a high maintenance drink, so I like to ask for extra lemon up front to save the server time. He didn't scoff, and he brought the perfect amount. I was so happy!!
Apps: We had the crab stuffed portobellos - they were tender, well-seasoned, and just delicious.
The lamb appetizer, I don't know if I was able to get pictures we ate it so quickly. Perfect char, perfect temperature. I would eat this every day.
Entree: We decided to go with the filet medallions and crab legs they were offering as a special, and of course I added the extra pound of crab legs that was available. It was fabulous!!
I highly recommend. Prices are very reasonable. Great staff. Great atmosphere.
Previous Review: Amazing service, great food, and an upscale but relaxed atmosphere. I really appreciated that they remembered us from a previous visit a few months back. They make you feel like you're part of their family. Wednesday night crab legs special was a hit. Wasn't a fan of the breadsticks, their house rolls are much better. Also, the house dressing needs a tweak, but those things aside, definitely...
