So there’s 2 parts to my review. #1 is for the resort itself which was absolutely amazing! Prime location right on the peak 8 lifts which is great, you can take the gondola or complementary shuttle to downtown, there are tons of onsite things to do for the family such as indoor/outdoor pools, spa/grotto, arcade room, private family theaters, outdoor lawn game area, a few bars & restaurants, escape room, fire pits and many other activities which was nice especially when traveling with kids. We had a 1 bedroom smaller suite which was nice it included a kitchenette with coffee maker/stove/utensils/plates/glasses and dishwasher, living room area, separate bedroom and a widow that opened up to a non walk our balcony and everything was very clean. Honestly the smaller 1 bedroom suite itself was nice but overall wasn’t anything special but The larger 1 bedroom suite with the balcony is absolutely beautiful and is the one you definitely want to be in! Overall the resort is a 5/5 and I highly recommend staying here!
Now part #2 is for the timeshare presentation. Their ownership level floor was nice, they provide complementary snacks/drinks as well as childcare which was nice. I was really excited to learn more about timeshares as well as the option to purchase one especially since we plan on staying locally in Colorado permanently. Our sales rep was Dave T. he seemed really nice at first and was very thorough in explains the concept and processes of their timeshare model. Everything sounded great and I was interested. He layes out the numbers and they were something we could totally do but I am not the type to just jump into anything especially a 150k+ investment without taking some time to think about it and doing research before committing. I made it clear that I was interested but wanted to take some time to think about it in which we had 30 days to secure the rate. Dave started to become pushy and tried to pressure us into committing on the spot by proving lowered rates, trying to sell me a lesser deal although I was clear that I liked the annual plan and was not interested in the even year plan he stated “I don’t care what you like, I am offering you a great rate with a huge discount for the even year plan we can always upgrade you later” which at that point really made me feel some type of way! From here his demeanor completely changed he started to have an attitude and he was very pushy trying to belittle me for not wanting to commit on the spot! Yes, I understand that you’re trying to make sales, I’ve worked in sales myself before and I do understand that if you can get someone to sign on the spot, that statistics show once they leave they’re less likely to call back and commit but not every person is the same! Here’s the thing, I absolutely loved the resort, the pricing is within our budget, we plan on going to Breckenridge more often as our kids are now old enough to ski/snowboard but I wanted to do my due diligence and look into a few things myself as well as consider a few variables before I fully committed. I planned on calling back within the next week or two when I had made my finally decision on what plan I feel would work best for us but after the way his demeanor completely changed, i’m absolutely not interested in signing up with him! I do not feel that his sales tactics are professional and do not appreciate the way he acted towards the end of the presentation the high pressure sales tactic is outdated and is a great way to push...
Read moreWhat an amazing and perfect place to stay in Breck, we had the BEST TIME EVER! This resort is almost perfect in so many ways, the location is definitely the best out of all places available..... Being on peak 8, it has gondola and ski lifts literally outside the door so you can literally go ski or get to shopping and dining without having to drive (other places don’t have this by the way!) My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, without our kids, and it was a perfect place for us to have a romantic getaway!
The ownership presentation/tour was semi-interesting. We have no desire to pay $160,000 for “ownership” regardless of all of the perks about being an “owner”. The tour was an hour and a half long, but it’s definitely a full sales pitch with a big push and expectation by their sales people to get that sale the same day for a “lower rate”.
L-O-V-E-D our one bedroom! This was more of an upscale apartment, definitely NOT a hotel “room”. Huge kitchen, huge private balcony, fireplace, private washer and dryer, huge soaking tub for two people, two bathrooms, and AN INCREDIBLE VIEW OF THE MOUNTAINS! The only complaint I have is the bed was seriously SO uncomfortable, so that was a huge bummer.
The gondola closes at 5pm to get to and from the town. They do have a free shuttle service that picks you up until 10pm, but it absolutely sucks! You will wait around for 30-45 minutes in the freezing cold and the drivers don’t seem to be on any kind of time schedule. We used it, but glad we also had a rental car.
Cons at Grand Colorado: -No breakfast available besides “Ullr Cafe” which only serves pastries and burritos that come in plastic. It reminds me of a Starbucks with very limited options and quantities. I guess they expect their guests to cook their meals or have to go into Breckenridge? -The front desk people are OBSESSED with being the face mask police. It was super annoying and rude. Their main focus is forcing you to wear a mask before they even treat you like a guest and it’s highly stupid. They need to CALM DOWN. -Housekeeping really lacked on bringing our robes. They take them each clean and are supposed to replace. They only did once during our 4-night stay.... bummer.
Recommendations for your winter trip.... Make dining reservations!! It’s almost impossible to get into the “nicer” places without one. Also, Breck is NOT a foodie town. They may have lots of options, but food quality is pretty bad and expensive everywhere... and so is service! It’s almost comical. Plan to do some cooking! Only bring comfortable water proof boots in the winter. It’s wet, slushy, dirty and cold. Comfort and warmth is key. Book your ski lift tickets and rental ski gear in advance for a discount. GO DO WHITE MOUNTAIN SNOWMOBILE TOURS IN LEADVILLE! So much fun! Eat at the Hearthstone Restaurant for an upscale (and pricey) dining experience. Breckenridge is obsessed with being fearful of covid. Everywhere you go they force a face mask or make you leave. Ditch a mask and buy a neck gaiter. It’s SO much more convenient walking around with that on in the freezing cold streets and being able to just pull it up when walking into stores instead of having to put on a mask over and over.
Overall, we loved staying at the beautiful Grand Colorado and would...
Read moreThe resort is nice, however based on the following described experience, I would not stay in the future, nor recommend anyone participate in this sketchy timeshare scheme:
WARNING For those staying via an invitation of 2 nights for $99 in exchange for attending a 90 min "low pressure" tour/presentation * My husband and I received an invitation offering a $99 stay in exchange for attending a 90 min "low pressure" tour/presentation after signing up for a free 4-day/4-night Grand Lodge vacation sweepstakes drawing. Note: Individuals signing up for a free vacation are not the demographic that have financial access to enjoy one or more luxury vacations a year. With that said, we decided two days would still be a fun getaway, and we were happy to see what the tour was all about.
The 90 min tour ended up being almost 3 hours. The saleswoman who gave us the tour was friendly and excellent at her job. Had we not recently purchased a house and had a better grasp of our finances with the new mortgage and a first baby on the way, we might have been persuaded by the opportunity. Now having a tight budget, however, we are not afforded the freedom to dish out thousands of dollars at the drop of a hat. Even if we had wanted to consider it, by design, they don't allow time to research or evaluate the purchase.
Attempting to negotiate a more affordable package, the saleswoman consulted her manager, who then injected himself into the conversation. This man introduced himself as a pastor (I assume to imply he is trustworthy and has Christian values? ). He tried to sweeten the deal, which was nice, however it simply was not the right time for us to make this kind of purchase. We mentioned that we might be interested in six months or so when we are financially settled from our recent home purchase and move. He immediately went from being a friendly pastor guy to informing us this was a now-or-never opportunity, and if we did not buy now, we would not be invited back. He cited how much money they spent to bring us up there for the weekend (hinting that we were freeloaders). He spoke condescendingly to my husband, explaining that it would not be a good business model to allow us to return without buying a timeshare. We had not indicated an interest in coming back for another "discounted stay"; we only stated that we might consider something like this in the future when we have more financial flexibility. He then suggested we spread the cost out on credit cards since we didn't have the cash on hand. He was rude and borderline desperate to sell us something that allegedly "sells itself". When I explained that we like to be thoughtful about big financial decisions and budget things out, he insisted that all the calculations we needed were right there before us. He insisted we make an un-informed, impulsive decision using high-pressure tactics. This strategy is unethical, and his willingness to make us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome in order to make a sale did not inspire trust that what they are selling is anything more than a scam.
My advice is to take or leave the cheap stay - but the company seems sketchy, and we do not support...
