Gold Runner Coaster — Attraction in Breckenridge

Astoundingly poor supervisor customer service. Visiting in August. First trip to Colorado and a mountain coaster. Walked past three employees in the ticket line checking customers. Purchased a ticket. Walked past another two employees at the base of the hill line to the mountain coaster. Made our way up to the front line of the mountain coaster which is when we were informed we couldn’t wear close toed Teva sandals on the ride. You must wear fully enclosed shoes.

Of course I understood, but I still wanted to know why. One of the three guys at the coaster station said it’s just in case a small shard of metal hits you in the foot. Very strange. My eyes aren’t suppose to be covered but if my feet have any small hole exposure, it’s not acceptable?

They did have some loaner shoes, however, the largest size was a men’s 8. I wear an 11.5.

It’s entirely frustrating to have gone through that entire process and not once did anyone mention we needed fully closed shoes.

I made my way back to the ticket center and asked for a supervisor. I explained the situation and my dissatisfaction for the mis-management of the entire process. The manager appeared confused, as if she hadn’t understood me at all. She looked at my shoes and said I could go up in the ski lift with my shoes. I re-explained the issue was the coaster. She immediately said, “well we have signs posted”. She pointed to a couple signs posted next to a couple of the ticket booths. The signs read something along the lines of, “all activities require fully enclosed shoes.” The sign was not posted on either side of ticket booth I ordered from and even if it was, there are signs everywhere in there. The more signs the less often people read them. Also, apparently you don’t need to follow that sign for the ski lift up the mountain? And I would be willing to bet you don’t need to follow that sign for mini-golf.

I was provided a refund without any issue. However, I’m leaving this review to ensure a change in the process to make sure this doesn’t happen to other people. Of course it would be best if you’re planning your trip to wear fully closed shoes however it’s absolutely their responsibility to catch these issues before families jump through all these hoops only to find out they can’t participate.

I would have had a higher review if the manager was more empathetic to the problem, and forthcoming with a solution to ensure the problem didn’t...

This ride is amazing! I highly recommend getting the unlimited pass so you can go multiple times—totally worth it.

The staff were incredibly friendly and laid-back. One team member named Star was especially wonderful, he connected with my 6-year-old and even let him ride while holding the coaster mascot, Porky.

It absolutely made his day!

"A quickie"

Was expecting a bit more.

We initially thought we would ride this repeatedly but were satisfied with our 1 ride.

Overall it is a slow ride to the top, and then a fun FAST ride down with a couple thrilling curves.

IMO, worth that wait in line once but for us it wasn't worth waiting in the line again for such...
