The Coach Light Inn is a great value hotel. It is well cared for and has many good features.
This hotel has more comfortable beds than the Hilton, Hampton Inn and Home2Suites. I've stayed at all three of those hotels recently while driving halfway across the country. Those are lovely hotels with many nice features, and I think very highly of them. However, after sleeping in a bed at the Coach Light Inn was the first time I woke up without hip pain. The beds at the other hotels are just a little too firm for me (I'm a curvy woman with big hips) and every night just made me miss my own bed more. The bed I slept in at the Coach Light Inn made me miss my bed just a little less. After sleeping in it a few nights my hip pain was completely gone. I'd give the Coach Light Inn a 5 star rating on this fact alone, but there are other nice things about this hotel too.
I stayed in a room that had a kitchen with a two burner stove. Bring your own kitchenware (remember things like a dish sponge, dish soap, paper towels - but there is a walmart and HEB conveniently nearby if you forget anything). The large mini-fridge has separate freezer. The room also had a king size bed and a full size bed. I found the full size mattress to be softer than the king size (though the king size was comfortable). The mattress felt similar to my medium firm bed that I have at home, so that was the one I chose to sleep on.
The alarm clock has wireless qi charger on top. It's much nicer than the alarm clocks in other hotels I visited. It charged up my jabra earbuds and samsung phone quite nicely. The shower has a nice large shower head, lots of hot water. There's plenty of parking. It's safe and quiet.
The hotel is pet friendly and has a nice little grass area for dogs to relieve themselves in (bring your own poop bags). There's plenty of space in the room itself, I even brought a large dog create for my dog and it didn't take much space. The television has lots of channels to choose from.
The wifi is sufficient for remote work. I was able to make calls on MS Teams, and access work resources online with no issues. I was even able to play a video game online with friends with little latency.
Overall I would definitely recommend the Coach Light Inn to others and would happily stay there again should the need arise. For the price it can't be beat, and it's quite...
Read moreI was trying to book a room for my mom via Expedia. The base rate (without taxes/fees) was noted as $57. When we went inside to speak with the owner/manager named, BOB PATEL, he refused to honor the base rate of $57 with Expedia. He kept insisting that Expedia was not correct and that the base rate is $75. HE WAS VERY RUDE AND IRATE!!!! I showed him my phone on how the rate is $57, but he proceeded to get his phone and look it up and showed me that it was $75.00. I explained to him that I am logged onto my account with Expedia now and the base rate is $75, but he kept arguing me on what his rates are. I asked him if he was questioning the rate with Expedia. He was extremely RUDE and not helpful at all. He cannot be trusted. Since Expedia has the base rate as $57, then he should have honored that rate and not show me how his phone showed $75. I WILL REPORT HIM TO EXPEDIA FOR THIS!!!!!! I told my mom in front of him, that I do not trust booking a room with him and giving him my credit card because he may charge inaccurate fees and then we left. I told him that I will report him for this and he said, "Go Ahead! I am the owner"!" I then took a card off the counter so I had his name. As we were sitting in the parking lot in the car (because I was typing up this review), he came out to the car TWICE to argue with me and to show me his phone showed $75. The third time he came out to the car, I did not roll my window down and I just waved him away. Oh, well, that upset him, because then he started yelling at us telling us to get off of his property. If you are booking a room at this old, ancient place, then make sure that your Experida rate is honored and charged. I took my mom to a different place and booked her room on Expedia without any crazy issues like BOB PATEL...
Read moreWhile the room was large, the beds were clean and comfortable, and there were some thoughtful items (such as toothbrushes) to convenience guests, the room did feel a bit overpriced and the staff wasn't super friendly to us. The bathroom wasn't immaculately clean, and the bureau drawers were broken, which feels petty except that we paid about $90/night for our stay. However, the most disappointing part to us was that in our haste to leave the room (after management called within a couple of minutes of checkout time to ensure we were leaving) we overlooked a rather expensive cell phone charger. We called within 12 hours (as soon as we got home and unpacked) to see if it could be either picked up by a relative, or to pay to have it shipped back to us and were told that the item wasn't found. While I don't know about the management, there is apparently dishonesty somewhere amongst the staff. Keep an eye on your belongings, and be sure to grab everything. It won't be returned to you.
*Edit: Shortly after this review was written, we were informed that our property had been found, and shipment was arranged promptly, and we are very...
