The reason for my 2 star review is simple! My mother and shop here on a very very regular basis simply to support the cause. And on multiple occasions items have been "priced incorrectly". During today's visit, we spent about an hour or so looking around. Naturally, we found some things we wanted. 3 of those items were two cd's (which had no price label) and a pair of jeans (which had a price tag hanging from a belt loop). We get to the register and I told the lady that the other cd's said $1 or $1.90. She said all cd's are $1.90. No problem, I'll take them. Then come the jeans. She begins looking all over for the price tag. Keep in mind it's hanging on the front belt loop right in front of her face that says $1.50. She said these jeans are $5!! She said do you still want them? I simply said no thank you. Now to the point. It's extremely upsetting to spend an hour or more in a thrift store just to get to the register and be told oh this is going to cost 3 times the price on the tag! And then to have them not even offer to honor the price. This issue aside, I do love Higgins Branch and they have a wide variety of everything! And I love supporting their cause! It's just very frustrating having to deal with the issue I mentioned. It will not keep me from going back. I think it would be nice to have items...
Read moreI love all that Higgins does for the community, that part does not go unnoticed and I will continue to support them! However, it is SO HOT in this store. My mom, 2 year old, and myself were sweating like crazy. It was cooler outside, and that says a lot considering it was a 90° day. Everyone in the store was trying to fan themselves, visibly sweating, and just miserable. Considering the high inventory, it’s hard to get in and out quickly so I wish that they would at the very least have fans in the store like they do behind the register for employees. My only other complaint is not having shopping carts. Considering how hot and miserable it is in there, holding a 2 year old for an hour was just adding to the discomfort. Bring a stroller (and fan for them) if you have a child or children! I see other reviews mention high pricing. I personally don't think they are overpriced for the items I’ve looked at. They have a huge selection of furniture, wall decor, clothing, books, jewelry, knick knacks, etc. most of which is in good condition. Again, I will continue to shop and support everything Higgins does for the community. I just wish these things would be addressed and changed for the betterment...
Read moreFirst, I am new to the area and went to the old location on Alamo. I learned from a very helpful gentleman next door at The Cannery that the furniture and thrift store has moved to Market. He also shared a lot about the Faith Ministries, which was very interesting! Found the new location and WOW! The furniture side of the store is huge and well organized; there is so much to see. Got a couple really great finds before heading over to the thrift store side. There is so much to see! Also well organized and a good selection of mid-to-high end clothing in excellent condition. Staff is friendly. Prices are terrific. I could have spent more time but decided to save some for another day. I will...
