Thomas Craft Confections — Restaurant in Brenham

We were going to be in Brenham mid day for a bit (we live in Houston)so I looked to see if there was a place for a treat. I was intrigued by its menu and kept my hopes in check. I cannot express the depths of my surprise and pleasure upon entering and then trying the first item--wow doesn't do it justice but these are the best morning pastries I have ever had in the US. This is top notch-could -compete -with -the -best -in -France good. No joke. We ordered an array of items from pastries to cupcakes and even a cookie and all were stellar (one exception was the icing on salted caramel cupcake--too much butter flavoring). I recommend everything. We will come back even if we have to limit ourselves to monthly because it's such a haul. How about a Houston or Woodlands...

I moved to Brenham about 3 years ago because I wanted to return to my small town roots. I was pleasantly surprised to find this little shop that makes toffee and cupcakes. I use to live in Houston and worked in the Woodlands and have been to some of the high end boutique cupcake stores. This place and their creations put those to shame. The owners are too of the niciest and friendliest people you will meet. Small town nice. Their cupcakes are the best creations that I have ever had. I wish them much continued success but I have to get over to the store sooner because they arent a secret anymore and they sell out quick. I must say that I was terribly disappointed in the cupcakes. I bought one of each flavor as a gift and one for myself to try is that was my first time there. They were very dry and the icing was as if it had been placed on there three days prior, not creamy but grainy. I asked some of my friends that I bought them for what their opinion was and it was the same as mine I was very embarrassed .?I did try the peppermint bark malt balls and they were fabulous but will never buy cupcakes...
