Lan Feast in Brookline is an absolute gem for anyone craving authentic, bold, and flavorful Chinese cuisine. This spot masterfully delivers on both taste and ambiance, offering a dining experience that is both satisfying and memorable.
One standout dish is the Cumin Lamb, which is simply spectacular. The lamb is perfectly seasoned with an intoxicating blend of cumin, chili, and aromatic spices that transport you straight to the heart of Northwestern China. The meat is tender, slightly crispy at the edges, and bursting with deep, smoky flavors that pair beautifully with the slight heat from the chili peppers. It’s the kind of dish that lingers on your palate in the best possible way.
Another must-try is their Stir-Fried Noodles, a dish that exemplifies the art of hand-pulled noodles. The texture is delightfully chewy, absorbing the savory sauce while maintaining the perfect bite. Stir-fried with fresh vegetables, garlic, and just the right amount of seasoning, these noodles are incredibly comforting yet complex in flavor. Whether you order them with beef, chicken, or vegetables, they deliver on taste and satisfaction every time.
Beyond the food, Lan Feast provides a warm, casual atmosphere that makes it a great place for both solo meals and group gatherings. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always willing to make recommendations.
For those who appreciate authentic Chinese flavors, Lan Feast is a must-visit. Whether you’re in for the bold cumin lamb or the expertly crafted stir-fried noodles, you’re in for an unforgettable meal....
Read moreMy grandmother and I were huge fans of Lan Feast — we’d drive from the North Shore to Brookline just to eat there, sometimes twice a week. I even made a song about how much we loved it!
Unfortunately, our visit on June 3rd was such a letdown that we haven’t been back since despite sometimes wanting to, because we were so turned off. Two of our favorite dishes, the okra and lotus salads, had an unpleasant slimy, warm texture, the chicken skewers has a strange texture that even my chicken loving 6 year old was unable to tolerate , and even our usual tea was off — missing ingredients we know are normally included because at the same cost, we usually buy the tea to go as well when we visit.
We politely let the staff know, but with no manager present, nothing could really be done. We left most of the food uneaten and still paid for it all. They did offer us a complimentary dessert, which was kind, but didn’t address the main issue.
We know every place can have an off day — but it was the way it was handled that really soured the experience because we really trusted the establishment’s consistency and integrity.
We miss Lan Feast, but it’s been hard to go back after that as we are unsure if we’re willing to risk being so let down again…
(I struggled when choosing the stars to match this experience because there was a time I’d easily give 5 starts but I am seriously so...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible experience at Lan Feast, and things have only gotten worse over time. I’ve been here many times, but each time something goes wrong. The first time, our table was extremely wobbly and they refused to switch it for us. The second time, the noodles were much worse than before. Another time, a dish I ordered never came—even after explaining to the staff, they just said “not sure if it was given to someone else or never ordered,” but I was still charged for the drink on my bill.
But my most recent visit was the last straw. I sat at the bar and waited at least 15 minutes before anyone came to take my order. Meanwhile, people who arrived after me got served first. When a server finally came over, they seemed impatient and rushed us to order, even saying they were “too busy” to make the drink I wanted. It took 15 minutes just to get water, while the staff chatted with others nearby. When it was time to order, they talked so fast I could barely understand and kept rushing us: “That’s it, right?”
This isn’t just the occasional mistake—it’s a consistent lack of respect for customers. I will never be coming back and I’m putting this place on my personal blacklist. There’s no reason to go somewhere that makes eating a meal...
