Updating previous review after trying takeout instead of dine-in. The food was nicely packaged and still warm by the time we got home after picking up. The 6 xiaolongbao pieces were each placed in a container that had 6 separate pockets so they were well protected. However, there was no sauce with the order and we forgot to ask for ginger, which we typically get when dining in. I think those accompaniments should be standard with the order.
The Shanghai buns were a little crushed with the sauce container and a couple got soggy. But, overall, everything tasted very good, close to eating at the restaurant. We would do takeout again, especially when the restaurant is busy.
Dined here for the first time and general impression is good, some dishes were fairly good and others not so much. Interior has been redone from the Six Po hot pot that was here previously and it looks and feels great, very clean and comfortable.
The pan fried egg/chive bun has very good flavors but the skin had an undercooked texture. The steamed pork dumplings tasted good with a good deal of soup inside. The taro buns were our favorite. They were well made, not greasy, crispy on the outside and not too sweet. The spicy beef noodle soup was only mildly spicy and broth was thin. It lacked flavor and the noodles, I felt, were undercooked in the thick part and overcooked in the thinner part, making the texture strange when chewing. I wouldn't get this again but will try the dry noodles that have a sauce on it, which might have more flavor. We were disappointed by the scallion pancake with beef. The pancake was a bit greasy, which was expected, but there was only 1 small thin slice of beef wrapped inside.
Service was fine. Our waiter was efficient and the server that brought the food was friendly and always had a smile. He asked how we liked the food each time. This new place is a good addition to the...
Read moreWe went here for my last meal of 2024 and was very satisfied with the experience.
Service: no wait for 2 people. Servers were nice and food came out within reasonable time.
Vibes: I really like the modern design. The tables were also well spaced out, and it never felt noisy.
Food! The pork xiaolongbao definitely lived up to its raving reviews, with the broth being very juicy, flavorful, and paired with just the right amount of skin dough to meat filling. The steamed shrimp and pork dumplings were also packed with fillings and very well-seasoned. Also, huge kudos to that chili oil, perfect amount of spice and crispiness.
We weren't very impressed with the pan-fried pork dumplings as they weren't really crispy, but the taste is really good. The pan-fried Peking duck buns were a bit underwhelming as well as it just tasted like any other duck-filled buns. But then again, the buns themselves were really well made, it was soft and lightly crispy.
The taro puff was probably the biggest letdown due to its misrepresentation in the menu (purple on the outside), and that it was neither crispy or fluffy. The taste was okay.
Price: definitely a bit higher than I would expect for staple dishes like dumplings, but it won't break your bank, and I felt 70% full after.
Overall it was a worthwhile experience, especially to end the year with :) I would definitely want to come back to try the hand-pulled noodles and other dishes...
Read moreCame to try on a Sat around 130pm. There was about a 15 minutes wait so not too bad. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating for our party of 6 (included one baby stroller). Inside was spacious enough that we didn't feel like we were on top of each other and had room for the stroller. Servers were all very attentive, including filling our water constantly.
For food we got: Cucumber salad - this was very light, needed more flavoring and I would've preferred Cucumber slices as that may soak up more flavoring Pig ears- pretty large dish, had the right crunch, flavor was a little too salty XLB (Xiao Long Bao) - very flavorful, skin was not too thick and was not dry, good amount of juice inside. Would come back and get this again Pan fried bao - the outer skin was not too dry, decent size (not too large to be too filling and can't eat the entree) and not too salty inside). Would get this again if we're around Scallion pancake- this was lighter and not as oily as most places Hand cut noodles - noodles broke apart as soon as you try to pick it up, which made it not as appetizing to eat. Flavors tasted like stir fry noodles Ramen noodles - had decent amount of toppings, very light in flavor Also ordered Bok Choy and Mushroom bao , vegetarian Ramen noodles (stir fried), vegetarian dumplings. The noodle dishes all had a vegetable option and had few vegetarian appetizers options along...
