The first issue came when I received a call from the hotel while on the road to the hotel telling me that the suite I booked through Hotels.com was no longer available. I booked this room on 1/19/21 for 2/19/21. Why was it no longer available? Because the person who had the room the previous night decided at the last moment to stay an extra night. So, rather than tell them, I'm sorry but this room is already booked, they gave them the room and made me scramble to find another room. They offered me another room with two queens which was fine for our group but it doesn't excuse the fact that they just ignored my reservation. The young lady who called me initially offered to call Hotels.com but seemed to back-pedal on that later. I did ask her to please call them on my behalf as it was the hotel's fault and not mine or that of Hotels.com. I wasn't left feeling confident so I called Hotels.com myself. They cancelled the suite I booked, arranged for a new 2 queen room (non-suite), and refunded me the difference. Hotels.com contacted the hotel to notify them of the change. They also provided me with $50 off my next booking with them even though this was not their fault. Who am I going to be more likely to book with going forward? Then, we got to the hotel. I went to the front desk to check in and provided my credit card for incidentals. The back of my card wasn't signed so the man behind the counter said that I had to sign it. I said that I purposely don't sign them. He replied that I have to put see ID on it then. I said that I did not and left my card there for him to take and I showed him my ID. He never took the card - fine with me. But, when he completed the check in, he handed me the key and pointed around the corner and said "over there" and that was it. No 'thank you', no 'your room number is...", nothing else. I assumed that he meant the elevators were around the corner which they were. Luckily I didn't have to ask any more questions at that time. He seemed very angry and looking for an argument. Now, our room was on the far end of the hotel and had what we initially thought was the noise from approaching aircraft very low over the hotel. We thought this was great at first as we are plane watchers and we knew that we weren't far from the airport. But the noise didn't finish off like an airplane on approach plus, were were not in the landing pattern. We just chalked it up to a nearby industrial business and ignored it for the rest of the night. In the morning, we realized that there are train tracks going in two directions that were barely 100 feet from our room. I heard the noise throughout the night but it wasn't why I was awake and it did not interfere with my sleep. However, if you are a light sleeper, find another hotel that isn't on top of the railroad tracks. On last negative (minor in comparison). There isn't any facial tissue in the room. I called the front desk and asked for some but was told I would have to come down and get it myself which wouldn't have been a problem but I really didn't want to see the man at the front desk again. Getting past these somewhat major issues (and one minor issue), the room was very clean and spacious. The shower is very large with decent water pressure. The TV is very large (and clear) compared to most hotel rooms. I dealt with two staff members in the morning who were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be enough for me to consider ever booking this hotel again. In a word:...
Read moreI booked this hotel for business not being familiar with Ohio, and I will definitely add this to my list of select hotels. First, the price was reasonable, and the ride from the airport was only 10 minutes away. The check-in was easy. Ms. Cheryl and her colleague were so pleasant. They made me feel like I was at home. The property is well kept and my room was very clean. Although there is a train nearby that I could hear and see, the noise was not bothersome to me. However, they offer earplugs at the front desk for those who may be light sleepers. They were also courteous enough to have a sign informing guests of the power window washing was going to occur during our stay with a cute reminder to shut curtains to preserve our privacy. I was able to squeeze in a 30-minute brisk walk on the treadmill. The fitness room was clean and low traffic (at least during my stay). The area feels safe, so I was also able to walk some outdoors. I highly recommend this hotel.||As far as food, this location is perfect having multiple restaurants of different types of foods (e.g., Panera Bread, Carrabba's, Starbuck's, Raising Cane's, Tokyo Restaurant, Hooley's Pub), Walmart, Sam's Club, and a gas station literally within walking distance (1 min - 9 minutes). I ate at El Palenque, which did not disappoint! Read my review about...
Read moreAs a family with pretty major allergy issues (both my wife and I and our kids), this was the best hotel experience we have had while traveling halfway across the country. My wife has read that Fairfield Inns were highly rated for cleanliness. This hotel was just that.
Also, this hotel actually invested in some ventilation in their room bathrooms. Something more hotels are skimping on, for profit I can only guess.
Finally - the staff. The evening we arrived we need some sheets and pillows, and they were delivered within 5-10 minutes. I was at a hotel the day before that never even delivered towels when we requested them. (We’re not demanding but the last hotel only provided 2 towels when we clearly stated a family of 4 with two kids on the reservation.)
One last compliment needs to be spotlighted by name - Lowana. She seems to oversee the kitchen. She was responsive to some personalization of food options for our family. We are gluten free, not by choice but due to some serious health related issues. Lowana has planned ahead should any gluten free guests come stay. She had GF blueberry muffins that she gave us. This really started our day off...
