Let me start by saying this.. I can confidently say that I will always have a story about this trip to good ol' Cracker Barrel. We decided to venture here for dinner and with the first step inside, the vibes were off but that's probably just the nature of the food chain. Getting rid of some of the creepy photos on the wall might help, though. Service to be seated was great, staff was kind and prompt. Our server comes over to take our drink and food orders, and our drinks came out very fast. Great vibes so far! Or so we thought. It wasn't too busy tonight either, so we were ready for a quick meal. 10 minutes go by, our server brings out a bottle of honey for our biscuits.. but not the actual biscuits themselves. Server says food will be out "shortly". Perfect! 20 minutes goes by, server brings out a plate of sauces for our chicken tenders, but no chicken. says again that the food will be out quickly. another 15 minutes goes by, and the food comes out. Hooray!! I am hangry by this point, and full of iced tea and lemonade. I then see a drip of something brown drip off of the plate the server is holding. oh? The server then asks if we can move our sauces so they can put the beans on that plate because they're a "little messy". This small bowl was filled to the BRIM with soupy pinto beans, and an added suprise. What is the suprise, you might ask?? The server's thumb. Their WHOLE thumb (with a very long, dirty fingernail, might I add) was in this bowl of beans. Not only was their thumb covered in beans, so was the rest of my friend's food. And the server didn't mention a thing as they pulled their thumb out of the beans and touched both of our plates after. After my friend and I stared at each other in shock, I decide to try what I was most excited for: the hashbrown casserole. However, upon tasting it, I could tell that they were trying to get rid of food that had been sitting out all day. it was luke-warm at best, and dry. The server then came back not even 5 minutes later and gave us our check... we hadn't even had 3 bites of our food yet. it felt like they were kicking us out, even though they didn't close for over an hour after that. I do appreciate that the server came over and said, "Sorry for the wait for your food. here is some free chocolate cake." Now, this was kind and I recognize that, but goodness, the cake looked like it was straight out of Matilda. It was somehow so dry and moist at the same time...? Again, like they were trying to get rid of food that had been out all day. The only redeeming part of this experience was the store itself. There are some cute little things in there, although they are overpriced. But they probably can't do much about that in this economy. I will forever call Cracker Barrel the place with the thumb-beans. Thanks for an...
Read moreJust before we hit the road to come back home, me and my wife, plus two of our friends decided to get breakfast at a local restaurant, Cracker Barrel. The place wasn't very busy. We were seated right away. Within 5 minutes, our waitress came to our table. She didn't Introduce herself but seemed really nice. She asked us for our drink order. So, we gave it to her. We then see other tables getting their food and/or drinks as another 5 or so minutes pass by. Then, our waitress comes back to get our food order. Me, my wife and my friend's wife knew what we wanted and told our waitress. My buddy wanted something that was not on the menu. Then, realizing that he made a mistake and didn't know the item wasn't on the menu, he politely asked the waitress if she could give him just a few more moments to make a decision. Well, this is where things got interesting. She said to my buddy, "Sir, you do realize that your meal may not come out the same time as the others." So, she was staring at him and caused him to make a rush decision. He said, "I really don't want to just get anything I don't want, but I'm going to anyway." So, she took his order and walked away. (I forgot to mention that my friend's wife ordered something that they "didn't" have. But, did when we were there a few days before.) She had no right to pressure him. He tried to play his anger off but I know he was upset. After another 5 or so minutes our waitress was no where to be found. Another lady came by and asked if we were given our drinks yet. We didn't. She apologized and said "I don't know what happened to your waitress but I'll be back with your drinks." The lady came back and gave us our drinks and apologized again for not knowing where our waitress was. Then, another waitress comes by apologized to us and stated that she was going to take over being our waitress because the original one had to go. After that, I heard a loud bang behind our table. It seems that our original waitress had an issue with us; or maybe it was who we were with. She slammed down silverware behind our table. She then proceeded to clean off other tables, not bothering to look at us at all. Then, our new waitress brought us our meals and we enjoyed everything. It seems that our original waitress did not like the fact that there was an interracial couple setting at the table and she didn't know how to express that she didn't want to deal with them. Sad but true, racism still exists. But, we do want to thank a host named DeCary (I hope that I spelled it correctly). He was a big help, getting the right people to help us with...
Read moreBecause of loud music on the speaker directly above our table we asked to be reseated. Our waitress was nice and understanding, but the hostess was rude and unhelpful. Eventually the waitress had to get the manager because the hostess was refusing to help us despite being well within eye sight, aware of the problem, and not helping anyone else. It took him ten full minutes to come over and when he did he was walking around with a coffee pot and only asked if we wanted coffee. He didn’t identify himself as the manager or ask if we needed help. We waited for 15 minutes and, before getting up to leave, asked the hostess directly to move us. She told us the music had been turned down (it hadn’t) and that they were too full to reseat us (restaurant was about 40% empty at that point). When we got up to leave, suddenly the hostess was willing to reseat us and they cranked the music down, only after we stood to go. I understand it can mess with seating patterns to asked to be moved, but the music was dive-bar-on-a-weekend-night loud at 11:00 in the morning, and the fact that no one other than the waitress could be bothered to walk over and let us know they weren’t going to be able to reseat us so we could choose to go somewhere else, let alone accommodate the request to not sit directly under the speaker, was both lazy and disrespectful. If you have anyone in your party with sensory, auditory processing, or hearing loss issues I absolutely cannot recommend this...
