Third Mexican restaurant in this location that I recall, could be more. It's back off the main road a little bit, so don't give up trying to find it They built it a fantastic outdoor seating area that wasn't there before, of course I discovered this in November so I'll have to check it out next year. The food is really good. They do have all the typical dishes you find at your Mexican restaurants in the area but it tasted like it was more homemade, whatever that means lol. We got their table side guac, which they did not prepare tableside, which I'm guessing is just for sanitary reasons. It was a huge serving and it was very very good. I got enchiladas and my SO got a big burrito and everything was delicious. I must have been tired because I didn't take a picture and I always take a picture. You'll just have to trust me that the food was served attractively lol. The service was a little slow but they were pretty busy and they didn't have a ton of servers so just be patient and don't blame your waiter or waitress. They have a lot of TVs hanging that we're playing college football for you sports people. They have a good website with online ordering in case you don't want to go in. I'd say it's definitely worth checking out! P.S. I don't drink, but they had a menu full of really awesome looking Margaritas that were not your typical Margaritas in addition to normal ones and showed drinks. They also had pina coladas and daiquiris. Full bar with both seating. Go check out their online menu...
Read moreOoof. 3 stars would be more accurate, but giving the benefit of the doubt here that this was just a rough one-off as the restaurant is getting up and going.
We were seated at a table that didn't have enough seats for our group of 9. We merged the table next to us ourselves. Not a big deal, if that was the only thing.
The waitress was new and friendly. She made a couple mistakes (ex: gave a side of onions and wanted to charge extra when nobody asked for onions).
The menù didn't disclose dairy on a salad option, which was an allergen for the person who ordered it. The kitchen fixed it and the manager admitted the failure on the menù to disclose, but that meant not all the meals were served at the same time and able to be eaten. Meal was not comped on first receipt after a second kitchen mistake on the second try. When we asked for a comp, they agreed. The original receipt also included 10 meals when we had only ordered 9.
The food was good and the chicken was delicious. I ordered enchiladas and they were some of the best I have ever had. However, I won't be gunning to eat there again any time soon because it was a stressful experience when it...
Read moreI only come here for Carlos. Because of his great service I’ve brought co-workers, friends and family. If he recommends it, I’m going to eat it because it’s going to be good. His drinks taste amazing, he’s great with proportions and I don’t know what he does to his margaritas but they always taste smooth. I have at least 2-3 each time. This is my new favorite place to eat however I wish they had a larger salsa selection. Salsa verde using tomatillo or a chimichurri. The current salsa selection is very small and isn’t suitable for all palates but they have lots of selections of food. Salsas 100% make a difference in the Mexican dining experience experience. Anyways Carlos please never leave I will follow you wherever you work. You just make it so comfortable and fun to eat at. Even when I don’t want Mexican food I come anyway because I want the service and your charisma is top tier. So friendly and kind and knowledgeable. I always look forward to dining at El Palenque because of you! Thank you for making my dining experience truly phenomenal!! I’m drunk right now hahahahahaahaahah it’s your fault for recommending great drinks anyways...
