Nice small boutique Inn (12 rooms). The rooms are situated in a very non-uniform way, which makes it feel like you have much more privacy than the typical motel/hotel with rows of rooms with doors side-by-side and directly across. Everything is situated around a center patio with fireplace going all the time. Some of the bigger rooms have private balconies. It is only half a block off the main street (Ocean Ave), so it is very easy to walk around down town to eat, shop, whatever. In fact, when I arrived, I parked my car in their private parking garage and never drove the car again until the morning I left. It is 3 blocks off the beach access (maybe 5-6 block from the beach itself), and it is a bit over a half mile from the south entrance to Pebble Beach should you be going to an event there (so quite walkable instead of dealing with offsite parking and shuttles). They have other nice touches as well – coffee in the morning, brandy in the evening (I didn’t take advantage of either though). They provide bottled water on request as needed. They provide a $10 voucher for breakfast across the street at Il Fornio, but I didn’t use this because it didn’t open until 7:30am weekdays and 9am on weekends. Instead, I walked over to the Carmel Bakery only about 3 blocks away. My room I think is the smallest they have, but it was still plenty larger for 1 or 2 people. Two sitting chairs in addition to the bed, office style desk and chair next to the bed, large TV, small refrigerator, and a very nice bathroom. So very happy with the room overall. My only negative is there was no microwave in the room (even just a very small one...
Read moreMy wife and I completed a three-night stay this past weekend. We were here a year ago and had a very pleasant stay, so we decided to return. Unfortunately, this stay fell well below our expectations.|First, the positive: |Tally Ho is in an excellent location in downtown Carmel. It has covered, protected parking, which may be its best feature (especially if you have golf clubs in your car). The rooms are very spacious, and have decks with ocean views and comfortable seating.|Now, the rest of it: |We were essentially without internet for two of our three days. When I inquired of the individual behind the front desk whether anything was amiss, she replied : "I'm getting excellent internet here in the office." Not much help there. In fact, we never saw anyone but young seat-holders in the office.|Our room was indeed spacious, but the bathroom left MUCH to be desired. We couldn't get the old commode to properly flush, and the shower head badly needed to be replaced. (We are acutely aware of the issues with water shortages on the Monterey Peninsula, but there are shower heads that will compensate for this.|Maybe we just got the worst room in the place (109), which is street-side and really noisy, especially from the garbage trucks, which seem to come EVERY morning.|All of this for $555.00 per night, a price I would happily pay, but most definitely NOT for a room like...
Read moreWe stayed in Room 110, which is supposed to to be a deluxe King Studio for 3 nights in July of 2025. The cost per night was $566. We understand that the hotel is not updated but as you can see from the photos, this room was falling apart. Even the cocktail table was damaged. Obviously a dog ate all its legs and it was never repaired. As soon as we turned on the shower, the shower head fell to the floor each time. As you can see there was a disgusting yellow rim around the toilet. Walls had water damage all over, cabinet doors were barely hanging on. They should be embarrassed to give this room to anyone. As for the ocean view, I had to go outside move the outdoor furniture, open up the shutters completely and maybe I could see the ocean. The only thing going is its location and the underground parking. This is sold as a bed and breakfast but there was no breakfast. Since we booked with American Express, we were not entitled to any vouchers. |It was a complete disappointment and we could not wait to leave and continue our trip up the coast. After checkout, I received a text for us to rate our stay, of course I advised and sent photos, as of today no one has had the courtesy to respond. Very unprofessional. Beware and make sure your...
