If I could give 0 stars I would...*CROOKED
I am not sure why it took me 3 months to write this review, maybe because I still had hope this hotel would call back to resolve this after putting in the 60-90 day dispute with my bank. Well they didn’t so here is my experience that I feel the need to share with others. As working in the hospitality business, I’ve never been so poorly treated as a human before. Me and my boyfriend went on a week long trip up the coast of California. We spent two days in the beautiful town of Carmel before traveling to Big Sur. Our stay at this hotel started off as a great room overlooking the terrace pool area. The room was clean and spacey. Upon leaving the hotel/ the morning of I took about a 10-15minute shower and closed the glass doors. Not realizing until I exited the shower, there was water on the ground. From my observation, there was nothing wrong with how I closed the glass doors. So yes I called up for about 3 additional towels (which was enough to clean the floor). 2 days later I notice a charge on my credit card for $500 so I call the hotel and insist how it must be a mistake and to call me when it was fixed. The clerical told me she will bring it up to her manager and someone will call me back. Well, I get a call two days later from a woman yelling at me and saying this was my fault and how I flooded the whole electrical box and the room below. She YELLED at me how “I am going to pay for this” and “I broke her shower” and “this is all my fault.” Never been so rudely confronted ever before, I was dumbfounded and shocked. Not only was I harassed over the phone, I was treated so poorly. After the “manager” hung up on me, I immediately called back to find the desk girl tell me “the manager is unavailable and will leave a message.” First off, this is the most obscene situation I’ve ever dealt with. Second off, nobody from the hotel called me to “ask what happened” or investigate the situation and even tell me that I was going to be charged. Finally, how dare the hotel blame me for their shower structure malfunction. This is why these places have insurance for things like these! My one night stay and one 10-15 minute shower use was no way near responsible for their “so called damage.” I didn’t even have to clean up my floor mess but I did with the three extra towels I had! Absolutely CROOKED and took advantage of a young couple (early 30’s) road-trippers...
Read moreThe property was beautiful, well kept, and had lots of flowers in bloom when there in mid June. I went as a couple and we both enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and convenient short walking distance to coffee, great food, and the beach. The bed was extremely comfortable and soft, the room quaint and comfortable, and the bathroom spacious with a large shower. I would recommend even using the shower supplies provided as they smelled wonderful and seemed as though good quality to me. A few reasons for the four stars instead of five: 1) The wifi did not have a very strong signal and kept disconnecting during our stay. 2) The parking in the hotel courtyard was extremely limited and the spaces very compact. I highly recommend small vehicles only. Also, beware of the very deep street gutters if parking along Oceanside. (This hotel is worth the inconvenience with the parking, seriously.) 3) The historical builing here has more windows that can be opened in the individual rooms. We stayed in the 300 building and only one small bathroom window could open to cool the room down during the warm part of the day. It did not get too hot though, just a bit warm for our preference. I hope you give this hotel a chance. We had a...
Read moreI would like to express my disappointment following my recent stay at your Carmel facility. I was initially thrilled about the opportunity, but my expectations were, regrettably, not met. My room, numbered 111, was priced at a substantial $322.00, a cost that did not reflect the quality provided. The room had a persistent damp smell and was carpeted with a dirty, worn-out covering. The bathroom was cramped, and the towels supplied were old and worn. I was also disappointed with the breakfast; the quality was poor and having someone observing me throughout breakfast was quite off-putting. It was shocking to observe that the pricing for such an experience was excessively high. In my opinion, the cost of the room should have been around $150.00. An additional issue was the lack of adequate soundproofing in the ceilings, which allowed disturbances from the rooms above. The inadequate ventilation led to a stuffy room ambiance and the noisy air ventilation did little to help. While I appreciated the clean sheets, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. Based on my extensive travel history and experiences with numerous hotels worldwide, I'm afraid I cannot recommend...
