Carmel bakery is very famous and hence it was packed on a Saturday afternoon. Couple of my friends had been here before, and I wanted to check out what the hype was about. Although the queue was extremely long, it moved pretty fast, and we were able to reach the counter within 15 minutes. The place is tiny and there are couple of seats indoors, but your best bet is to take the pastries and eat it on the beach. There is a case on the window, showcasing the various pastries that they have, but the actual choice inside is much larger. I had coffee ice cream with chocolate chips, and it was divine. It was creamy and not too sweet, and the chocolate chips were massive. A 10/10 gelato in my book. I also had the lobster tail, which is an Italian desert. I have never tried before, so it’s difficult for me to compare it, but for what I had, it was very good. The shell was flaky and crispy, and the inside were filled with vanilla cream. I also had the small handheld pizza. I went with the pepperoni. It was cold and very average. If I were to repeat my order, I would only stick with the ice cream and the pastries and not go for the savoury items. This place would get a five from me, but I’m talking a point just because the pizza...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped by this place while exploring beautiful Carmel, because kids wanted some icecream. Lady that was about to help us did not like the way my friend was wearing her mask, she specifically told us that masks are supposed to cover our noses completely. As we mixed our masks, we got closer to the icecream freezer, my 9 year old daughter came up to choose the icecream and the lady just slammed the door of the freezer with a nasty attitude and walked off right in front of my 9 year old daughter!! For what reason we still don't know. Door of the freezer is on the side of the employee and not customers. So, why in the world she slammed the door in front of my daughter we will probably never find out and definitely never go there again. Such a beautiful town, but ruined our trip with ones nasty attitude. That person shouldn't be working in customer service, but perhaps washing dishes somewhere in the back since she doesn't know how to interact with people, especially little kids. My daughter was upset the entire day and did not know what she did wrong to be treated like that. Worst...
Read moreI had been waiting in line and when I got to the doorway, the busser was cleaning and seemed like he needed to pass in front of me so I stood in the doorway and said “Go ahead”. Instead of continuing on, he stopped and told me I needed to wait outside because I had a stroller and I was clogging the doorway. I was only there because I thought he needed to pass in front and there there was a large area of space inside I was trying to get to but I wanted to let him pass first. I’m not sure how I would have been able to order if I just waited outside, he made it seem like he didn’t want the stroller coming into the store at all. The busser was very rude so we very calmly let him know he lost our business forever and his response was "Whatever, that's fine". I'll never ever be back. NOT family friendly and on top of that, the baked goods have always been VERY average, like grocery store bakery quality is better. I think people want to believe they taste better than they do because it’s in Carmel. I won’t think twice about skipping this place when my friends and family come to visit. Don’t...
