Disappointing to say the least. My young sons and I have had a reservation here for several months to attend a state sporting event in support of another athlete. We were greeted by the smell of marijuana during check in, (which isn’t a problem if you’re into that kind of thing) and I wasn’t impressed having my children exposed to that in a “reputable” establishment. The hotel was far from booked as the parking lot was on the empty side, yet we were placed in a wing that was under construction. Nail strips exposed with no carpet covering them on the stairwell heading up to our floor and an overall lack of cleanliness. There isn’t cable on the undersized tv. You must turn the tv on by pushing the power button on the side of the tv and then wait to sign in to the aftermarket Roku platform on your personal accounts to whatever streaming services you are subscribed to from a separate remote that doesn’t control the volume or the power. If you would like to mute or change the volume, you will need to do that from the side of the tv. The room was mediocre at best. Crumbs in the fridge and fresh stains on the desk and tv stand that made it evident there hadn’t been much cleaning/ disinfecting done. The ventilation fan in the bathroom is inoperable and the showerhead and pipe that it’s attached to aren’t secured in the wall- there is silicone there (for show?) but it’s not holding anything. The supplied products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash) are watered down so bring your own if you care. The heater didn’t work but luckily it is spring so the 64 degrees that the room maintained at night didn’t prevent the boys from sleeping. The safety deadbolt has also been removed from the balcony door so if safety is a concern- bring your six shooter.
Edit: I reached out to Numan like he requested in a response to this post. The response he made was completely for show. He had no intention of making things right. A woman at the front desk took my call and put me on hold while she was transferring the call, then she came back on (it was completely evident by her tone and candor that she had spoken to him) and let me know that he wasn’t available. That was it. She didn’t ask for contact information, she didn’t ask if he could call me back, she didn’t ask if I would be willing to call back- nothing. No resolution to the +$130 room for three nights. “Thanks for your money! That is all that we here at Riverside are interested in. Not your satisfaction. Not your safety. Not your health. Not you.” Well… you’re welcome for the money. I wish you the best and hope your business venture pans out for you Numan. God bless...
Read moreThe hotel was under construction when we stayed, but.. the whole place needs updated... I showed up and waited at the front for 15 minutes before I had to call to get anyone to show up. When they did, the service was super kind funny and helpful. However, the pool needed painted and cleaned the bottom and did not feel heated by any means. We only had one towel in our room and had to get more for 3 people put on our itinerary and had to grab more towels at the office, and once more service was helpful and kind, however some of the towels were still damp and we had to do a smell check and make sure we were willing to use them and not air dry... Anyone over 6 feet tall may not fit theough hallways and knock foreheads on the shower stalls. Bathrooms were quite small for a 5-foot woman I was not able to move around. The door opened right to the toilet, an easy way to get bruises you find later and have to remind yourself how you got it. The carpets need cleaned quite badly in the rooms and under the beds were not checked or cleaned found some interesting items. The water machine did not work, and vending machines will steal your money. The shampoo and conditioner bottles were empty in the shower. Breakfast was good, and a clean area with a very kind lady to help with anything you need. The orange juice was watered down and quite nasty, however. The beds were decently comfy.. pillows and blankets were the worst I have experienced. Camping would have been better than the pillows and blanket I endured. The location was amazing. we came in the summer/spring, and the smell and right by the river were gorgeous and smelled wonderful to be outside. The painting on the trim was all over the place, and the wallpaper was peeling off and bubbling everywhere. To the eye, it looks like a fancy nice place, but the more you sit and look, the more it is not worth the money spent. Super 8 would have been the...
Read moreWouldn’t stay here again. Find a different place to stay. .. so many issues... We paid approx. $210 Canadian - way too much what we got. So many issues: - the first room we got smelled awful (like mold/musk). There was a car air freshener in the AC vent so clearly the hotel is aware and has a make shift solution. We were moved to a second room, as the only other alternative available. The toilet didn’t work in this room, there was no hot water. We had to go back and forth between the two rooms which were at opposite ends of the building. The towels were stained, furniture was stained and old, carpet disgusting.. stained beyond reasonable, both sinks dirty, and the shower head too low for even me to use comfortably (I’m 5’4”) . Walking through the hallways we saw cockroaches. The pillows were also way too soft for anyone to use as a single pillow. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff working the desk. It’s obvious they’re doing their best with what they have available.
The owner needs to do something to clean and upgrade the hotel. The owner refused to fully remedy the situation when we brought it to his attention even how fair and reasonable we were as guests. We were given partial compensation. We also offered to update the review with a hopefully positive conclusion once the issue was fully remedied, however, that has not happened. Respectfully we are walking away from this place and just want to share our experience
Overall one of the worst hotel experiences we have had during travels but we appreciated the kind staff.
UPDATE: After correspondence with Management, they addressed the issues we had with the rooms. They also assured us that steps are being taken to upgrade the hotel for future guest. The management team also compensated us satisfactorily. Also, to correct, the insects may not have been baby cockroaches but rather other insects found...
