First time here and first time to Charlevoix. No doubt will be back to Charlevoix but can't say the same about this place. Came for the race and my friends booked the hotel. Pics are not very valid. Don't normally review places, but for what I spent at this place, I want others to be aware. I was a quality inspector in a very upscale hotel, so I may know what to look for more than the average person. I wasn't able to do a full inspection upon arrival but what I did see didn't make me too pleased. Hairs (and not just from a head & yes there were many) on the toilet, in the shower and on the bathroom floor...GROSS!! There was also a soda in the fridge, sorry but they don't stock those for you. The tiles in the bathrooms look very sketchy and like they will fall on you (not just our room but the same tile look in my friends' rooms Then the next day, well they took the 1 hand towel that was used by the sink, left the pool towel in the bathroom (no I don't think they even went in the bathroom because they didn't replenish the missing hand towel), didn't empty out the garbage bin that was nearly full and I'm pretty certain all they did was just kinda remade the bed, grabbed the towel and left. I knew not to expect a sheet change but I didn't expect all this. Again, I didn't do even a quarter of my normal inspection and yet I kinda am glad I didn't because then I would be afraid of what else I could have found. By the way, a quality inspector goes in after a room attendant cleans the room and checks everything to make sure the room is clean and stocked to their standards and guess what...They have them there.... This was very unacceptable!! I'd rather pay more money at another place to ensure I'm sleeping on fresh clean sheets, using a thoroughly cleaned bathroom, and that the room has been thoroughly cleaned and fully checked. So if you are reading this and check in, I highly recommend taking a few mins to do what the inspector doesn't seem to be able to do, esp on a busy check-in, and that's check your room when you first...

When I entered the room, one of the drawers on the desk was broken and hanging off of the desk, proving that they definitely do not check their rooms. I am not picky and would have made due with the tiny rooms and overall shotty experience, if it hadn't been for the some type of bugs i was sharing my room with. I woke up after the first night in room 45 and was covered in bites. I slept on the pull out couch for the remainder of my stay. I called the office just to let them know. I was not seeking any type of compensation at the time. I was merely letting them know, so the next person did not have to spend their week in agony. After being nothing but polite, they all but called me a liar. They also put another guest into the room as soon as I left. This place was disgusting, and this is all aside from the fact that I was made ill from their "continental breakfast". Take my advice and stay anywhere else. This place was in no way, shape or form, worth it. After speaking with a manager the following day, they credited me $81.00, which I learned from an email, not even the common courtesy of a phone call to discuss the action that they would take because they know that is not an appropiate currency refund after what I have experienced. To put it in perspective for those who may be believe I am just some picky person, I served my time in the Marine Corps which ranged from cockroaches in my barracks to camel spiders in my tents in Afghanistan. This place was still...
Read moreFor some reason, this place keeps the rooms set at 85 degrees which is ridiculously high. Ants in room 33 by the front door, on the counter by the stove and in the bathroom. Yes, we told the front desk and were give a can of insect spray to take care of the problem ourselves. The stove didn't work which was a problem because we chose this room based on the fact that we could cook in it. The pots and pans were dirty and I washed them before I even realized the stove didn't work. The cheap dish soap was watered down and only had a teeny amount left in the bottle. The cupboard under the sink had dried, caked on soap all over the shelf too. A bar was broken in the fridge so we couldn't utilize the whole fridge which was also a problem on our 3 night stay. The horn for the drawbridge is loud, but we had to keep the windows open because the room would not cool down. Even after 8 hours with the windows and the door wall open, it was still 78 degrees so sleeping was minimal. Mind you, it was only 35 degrees outside so I couldn't imagine how bad it would have been on a warmer day. Cigarette butts all over our patio too. Will never stay again and would have left if I wasn't there for a wedding.
The only thing I actually enjoyed was the jetted tub after I cleaned it out myself. There were 2 dead flying ants and a spider that took...
