We stayed at the Bridge Street Inn in Charlevoix for four nights the week of July 4th. While the streets were filled with people and cars, the Inn was a place of peace and serenity. The Inn was built around 1895 and has been well cared for. There is parking in the driveway and on the street. Micky, the owner and chef, greeted us upon our arrival and showed us our room. We stayed in the Lake Breeze suite with a separate bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. The rooms were filled with antiques and furnishings one would expect from the period. The bathroom was small, but adequate. The shower was hot, the towels were soft, and the bedding was excellent. All windows are screened, so they can be opened for fresh air when the A/C is not in use. Mickey served wines, cheeses, and snacks every evening at 5 PM either on the large wrap around porch or in the dining room. But be prepared for spectacular breakfasts! He served breakfast everyday at 8:30 AM. Each day we started with a freshly baked pastry filled with seasonal fruit or something unique like a broiled orange half with cinnamon and amaretto. That was followed by an egg dish like Eggs Benedict or "Italian" stuffed French Toast. Every day had a different menu. Lots of great coffee. You could not have a finer breakfast at a five star restaurant! In addition, there was coffee or tea available throughout the day, as well as bottled water.|The Bridge Street Inn has a great location, walkable to the beaches, downtown, and to the marina. The owner/chef is wonderful and easy to work with, the building is clean and comfortable. We will...
Read moreMy wife and I had the privilege of being able to stay at this wonderful establishment. We stayed in the Bridal Suite. The beds were soft and comfortable, the house was very rustic and welcoming and the food…wow! The food was AMAZING!!! Chef Mickey DEFINITELY knows his stuff! He was extremely knowledgeable and cooked up some of the most amazing breakfasts we’ve ever had. The food was top notch gourmet style the likes of which you’d likely see being served to the upper class or in five star restaurants. Chef Mickey goes above and beyond to prepare excellent food, service and accommodations. And if you have any kind of food allergies and/or preferences he will accommodate. ||||There’s fresh coffee made in the morning along with a selection of great teas to brew up. The cheese and wine at 5pm is explicit. It’s not just your standard cheeses and wines. This is gourmet cheese and local wines we’re taking here. And to top off a great day there is freshly baked cookies available in the evenings. ||||We can’t find enough great things to say about our stay and we will definitely be back. Chef Mickey is a class act and is a great person. ||||Thank you so much for the...
Read moreThis was my first experience in a B&B in the U.S. - I wasn't sure what to expect. Bridge St. Inn is located at the top of the hill, within short walking distance to the hub of activity in Charlevoix. The Inn is decorated with antique furnishings but also features modern amenities. (There is an additional thermostat on the 3rd floor to keep it cool/comfortable in the warm summer months.)
In addition to the charm of the Inn's interior (and immense porch), Chef Mickey prepares delicious breakfasts for his guests. I was unable to eat with the other guests a couple of mornings due to other early engagements. Chef Mickey graciously prepared individual breakfasts for me those two mornings at an earlier time. (I joined everyone at the regular time on my third morning for breakfast outside.) In addition to breakfast - there are freshly made cookies & fruit to snack on during the day as well as wine and cheese at 5:00 on the porch.
Lodging at Bridge Street Inn felt like staying at someone's home, the other guests were like relatives and Chef Mickey looked after us like family members. I can see why the rooms get...
