They have both sweet and savory crêpes. Stick with the sweet! I absolutely LOVED the ‘sweet’ banana and Nutella crêpe! I’d give it 5 stars, but the ‘savory’ crepe that I ate first was not good. It was supposed to have caramelized onions, spinach, mushrooms and Swiss cheese, but all I could taste and feel as I bit down was a lot of spinach. I told the cashier (when I went back in to get a sweet crêpe) that it was like biting into turf. It really was. She said to ask for less spinach next time. How was I to know it would have a dense stack of spinach? I couldn’t even finish it. She listened to my feedback and was friendly, but she didn’t offer to do anything to make it right. I still ordered a sweet crêpe because I heard how good those were and I still wanted to try one. It would’ve been good Customer Service to do something to make it right, (I.e. apologize and refund the money for the savory crêpe or comp the sweet one) but she didn’t.

EDIT: I appreciate the owner’s comment and offer to make it right. If I can get back there before I leave the area I will.

2ND EDIT: I went back in and the owner was totally different than his response on here. He said I shouldn’t “expect a refund just because I ordered something I didn’t like” and chastised me for posting my review. (I did try to address it with the cashier when I went back in, and I still ordered a sweet crêpe even though she did nothing to address it). My review was very positive about the sweet crêpe and honest about the savory one so others may want to stick to the sweet (or ask for less spinach, like the cashier suggested for next time). Maybe I just got a bad one with tough spinach. I don’t know, but it was hard to bite into and I couldn’t finish eating it. I normally love spinach things, which is why I ordered it. He had a totally different tone in person than his response on here. He said he’d refund my money. I told him not to bother after how he was speaking to me in front of other customers and I just wanted to leave. I thought he was going to be as nice as his response on here and then I’d update my review my ratings. Quite the opposite happened when I went in there. I won’t be back after how he treated me. Too bad, I really liked the...

Food allergy customers be aware that the crepes are all served on top of each other in one box. I have been to this place many times each summer and may have been too comfortable with it as I didn't mention that I had a nut allergy on this last visit. I didn't remember from the last summer that they were served on top of each other and when I received the order I couldn't eat the lemon sugar crepe because it was on top of the Nutella crepe. I asked to have it remade because I didn't know they would all be in 1 box ( my mistake) and Emily, the owner scolded me like a child and proceeded to tell me I was in charge of my own health and it was my responsibility to let them know when I ordered. Yes, of course I knew that, I've been doing this for 30 years but unfortunately I didn't this time and she could have been nicer about it instead of scolding me. As a repeat consumer I will never go back, nor will I recommend her bakery. She could have handled it with kindness and made an extra lemon/sugar crepe, which probably cost her 30 cents to make. It's not the money it's the nasty tone she used. I'm sure she is perfect and has never made a...

Brian, one of the owners bought some beets from me at the Charlevoix Farmer's Market Thursday. I saw and SMELLED someone walking around the market later with one of their crepes and decided I had to stop by. I bought a mushroom/egg/spinach crepe, which was cooked up quick, and hands down the best crepe I've ever had. After talking to Brian some bit more, he let me try his key lime pie, peanut butter, horchata, and morel mushroom ice creams. He also told me that the beets he bought were for his newest project, beet ice cream. I stopped in two days later on Saturday while a friend was in town, and he had already finished the beet ice cream, which was delicious! I bought a whole pint. I can honestly say I'd never think I'd want mushrooms or vegetables in my ice cream, but I'm quite convinced That French Place could make anything taste great in an ice cream. Absolutely worth checking out for the specialty ice cream flavors, and...

Great place for crepes, croissants, and other treats from France. Great selection of crepes and fresh brewed coffees. I went there for breakfast and ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese crepe for myself. And a lemon and butter for my wife. Both were very good. You have to wait a few minutes while the crepes are being made but it's we'll worth it. I also ordered a cafe mocha, because I really don't like coffee, and I found the mocha was very, very good. I would definitely order food and coffee here again. Stopped by here on a winter trip and we ordered a hot chocolate and a chai flavored macaroon. The macaroon was so good, I wanted to buy more but we just bought the last one. The hot chocolate was voted the #1 best hot chocolate. I could not agree more, I'm not a big hot chocolate fan, but I am now. It was darn good.

They’ve traveled the world and know good food by making it! They make the best French crepes and macaroons along with so many other baked goods. I get the feta, spinach and egg for savory and Nutella for sweet crepe. The macaroons vary depending on the flavors for the holiday or season. All of them are great and much bigger and more flavorful than the Laduree. We’ve been to Paris and it’s definitely better than the city fare because of the freshness and quality that French Place brings. P.S. Don’t talk to that guy Brian about Detroit style pizza. He started talking about the humidity, cheese comparisons with Monterey vs. Wisconsin block cheese, and the specific metal content for the type of pan you need and totally lost me. Maybe he should do a pizza joint too!! Highly recommended That French Place.
