We received a gift of Harwood Gold products from friends in Michigan for Christmas. One of the items was not sealed properly and it leaked all over the contents of the package. Also we were unsure if it was safe to consume the unsealed product. We called 3 times and left messages twice. After no response, we sent a letter to the Parsons Road location with photos of the product. After a month with no response we sent a letter with photos to the Bridge Street location. Another month or so has passed and no response again. We would rate a NO STAR if that was an option. We would not recommend Harwood Gold and we will definitely not be a customer the next time we're in Charlevoix.
May 15, 2021 Following this review I did hear from the owner who apologized and asked for the order information. The owner indicated that she would "start the replacement process" That information was supplied on March 10 with a followup email to her on April 4. It's now May 15 and no response.
I really don't care about the damaged product, but i do resent the attitude and being simply "blown off" by this business owner.
Do not patronize this business....
Read moreThis place is great! I first came to Harwood Gold because I heard they have good coffee and the word around town was correct. Their coffee and the meat pie that I had was great. I thought it was a nice touch that they seem to use antique plates and cups for the pie and coffee. The pie was gooey and crispy at the same time, perfect for any pie. Really interesting flavor to it since lamb was the meat. The ambiance and style of the cafe was really nice, I liked how they decorated. It felt like I was going to eat in an old barn with friends on the farm. Very warm and welcoming. Too many places don't put enough effort into the atmosphere of their business and they did a great job. Their logos and labels are also pretty cool too which I overheard that they do all of the designing in house. The service was wonderful. The sister owners were very nice and I got to meet both of them. I read up a little on their story and I love how they are sharing their family recipes and history with other people that visit. I highly recommend this place to everyone...
Read moreWorst coffee experience ever. The employees are extremely rude and the owner just stairs daggers at you. My coffee simply tasted like hot milk. Burnt hot milk, that is. When I mentioned it, she said she couldn’t return it because it had already been made and she can’t resell it and can’t refund it. I have never heard of that excuse before. I would certainly hope they would not resell food or drink that has been partially eaten and returned. That’s part of the cost of doing business. If you sell disgusting food or drinks, you should expect some of them to get returned. Other people simply don’t care or are too embarrassed to return it. So you’re out $.50 for the cost of your cup, milk, and over roasted beans. Big deal. The owner was behind her just staring at me. Great job and great customer service, owner. Apparently you literally don’t care if you have repeat customers or one star google reviews. I should’ve read the reviews before I came in because all of the ones that reviews are spot on with your attitude and your coffee. Will...
