Awesome stay in room 5 !! Just check out today ! Unfortunately, we could only stay one night this time! If your in to late nostalgic theme of 1950' s & days long ago when traveling on America great roads was a adventure for all ! Places that offered one of kind road side attrration & one of kind lodging !! CHIMNEY ROCK INN IS A MUST STAY!!! Breath taking view of CHIMNEY ROCK STATE PARK FROM DECK OF HOTEL !!! Loved designed outiine of pool area & Inn location is very convenient to chimney Rock or lake lure with in seconds of each other .
Upon checking in Saturday I was greeted with already annoyed employee . Annoyed that I pushed the intercom & to inquiry if a room was avaible & rate of room & that I would be right back after with a answer I advise my ficance rate who paying for it. Even more annyoyed that we decide to rent adorable room . Rates are reasonable for accommodations for 2 people . The room was very clean !! However there NO mini fridge in room & NO micowave !! The microwave is located at beside the ice- room . A Fridge in rooms would be a nice added amenity along with more than 2 towels in a room & no real existing front desk office or in sight person! Only a intercom to press . If you really need something like extra towel , a/c stop working in room if your lucky may get a response after 9 time pushing intercon I gave up ! I guess the already annyoned employee must already annyoned enough ! Also if paying with cash A 35.00 despoit upon check-in REQUIRED & 35.00 despoit is issued after a staff member checks your room to ensure the guests did not voilate chimney Rock Inn poilcy listed on piece paper which signed when Checking in. It should be advertised on the door since it's one of Inn Policy when paying cash . Perfect loaction near the Walmart sign on door . As a consumer I like to be aware of bottom line price Felt that $35 deposit required when paying with cash had been spring me last minute after a price had been quoted of 122.00 with tax's added. The already annyoned employee seen I was paying with cash way before the process of a slow ,slow very slow check in EVER I had experience ALL MY many years of traveling to different hotels & motels . Understand why a despoit fee of $35 is charged with paying in cash . It seems like a hidden charge since I was not advise up front . In common standard operating system of small mom & pop hotel to larger chains of hotel do advertise all current fee !! The lady who checked us out this morning was very nice & happy to answer general question. About the Inn & went as far as Offering to contact the owner Chimney Rock Inn to see if a picture in1950's what the original inn look like . Small question like that & great customer service respone & even with a certain admites not in rooms & 1 annoyed employee , & certain despoit fee not advertise to customer . This place has certain earned my business for a second stay in the future. I can stay in a 5 star Fabulous Hotel and pay $300 tonight and get a nsaty attuide customer service rep , half clean room & definitely won't be back at that hotel. No naming any names ! Just saying it's near Chimney Rock In. great customer service and the overall nostalgic theme of the rooms and HOW clean EVER PART OF OUR ROOM & GERENAL GROUNDS OF INN. I will definitely suggest this place to family up and friends and even customer , and enmenys to that Chimney Rock Inn is place to stay !!! I have 20 yrs experience in hopstiality area & work for top travel company. I know...
Read moreI will not stay at the Chimney Rock Inn again. The good: on site staff were wonderful. The view was lovely. The meh: I was there on a work trip, cell data was intermittent, and Wifi only worked once in 12 days. Not having a data connection was inconvenient. Do not advertise an amenity that doesn’t work. The cottages are not bad (bed was comfy), but are starting to get dated and run down (the carpet, especially, was gross), and are definitely overpriced. There are many Airbnb or VRBO rentals in the area that are a much better value; I wish I’d done that instead. (There is no where to do laundry) Even if I hadn’t been there for work, the premium of staying the lake lure area resort town isn’t worth it, at least in this neighborhood. Its noisy on the weekends; the live cover bands at the Tiki Bar across the road all seem to try and make up for lack of talent with volume. The Bad: unclear or perhaps intentionally misleading refund policy. When I booked, I asked what the policy was in case I needed to change my reservation due to an uncertain job site schedule. I didn’t actually care if the policy was “no refunds,” I just wanted a straight answer so I could plan appropriately. I was told over the phone “I’m not sure, I have to ask the owner.” Uh huh, red flag number one. Then it was “you will probably be able to get some money back.” (yeah, ok) I booked anyway, because lodging is difficult to get on the weekends, and I had a crew of people to keep on the job site. When it came time to check out a few nights earlier than I had booked, I was told, "we can re-fund your money if we re-sell the rooms.” That obviously never happened. They kept over $1000 of un-used stay, after I had spent thousands on three cottages. I...
Read moreMy family and I checked in to our cabin on Saturday 4/9/16. We put our belongings in our cabin and looked around the house. After settling in for around 45 min we proceeded to go to Chimney Rock park to hike. After hiking and dining we returned to our cabin. While we were gone someone had entered our cabin. We found a BLUE SURGICAL GLOVE lying in the walkway of the bedroom downstairs. We immediately looked the cabin over and found no person in side the cabin. We called the front desk guy and he told us nobody was seen in our cabin because only he had the keys. We explained what had happened and he suggested it was the A/C man from the day before!! WE HAD LOOKED THE ENTIRE CABIN OVER BEFORE EE LEFT. IF HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH A KEY THEN HOW DID THE GLOVE GET THERE AFTER WE LEFT??!! He refused our money returned to us when we asked for it. We no longer felt safe there and explained this to the man. We asked for him to call the owner who supposedly told him no refunds. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.We drove for 3 hours to spend the night and day in the mountains. We left our room to return to it being invaded. My children and my wife felt uneasy and very uncomfortable so we decided to leave. There was no reason someone should have been in our room. We packed up and left with no money back, partial refund or solution to the problem of our feeling unsafe and our privacy being invaded. They don't care if a customer is satisfied. If while you were site seeing and you came back to a surgical glove being in your cabin that was not left there before, would you chance it and stay in such a shady place? We opted to leave and we will never return!Something strange is going on there and I would NOT recommend this...
